Epic wins North Carolina tech award
Mark Rein and company will have another memento to share during the office barbeque as Epic has been recognized as the "Top Industry Driven Technology Company of the Year," at least on the Atlantic Seaboard. The accolade was given by the North Carolina Technology Association, or NCTA, as part of the organization's annual NCTA 21 awards ceremony, which applauds technology go-getters in the Tar Heel State.
Other finalists for the award included Parata Systems, PeopleClick and Railinc, companies we imagine lost out due to their flagrant disregard for rag doll physics and courtroom shenanigans.

While it does have its problems, the UE3 has been the engine that drives some very very good looking games.
I'm sure they've made a killing too.

Cheers for Unreal Engine, for delivering good looking games without completely murdering my hardware.

It really is an awesome thing. Epic definitely deserves it, hopefully this will bring some political recognition to the industry in these parts so we can get some of those game industry tax breaks Huston has been enjoying. I'm also glad Parata was a finalist since I've been working with that company doing contract work since they moved into Durham. (they make pill counting/bottling machines.... whoo)

this is going to be great. But I really think it's pretty lame that they have to bring things down to update it. It needs to be much more seamless than that.
