....and that's why the PC will always be a better place for modders.

At least the modders actually own the content they create, for the most part.

I am SICK, and TIRED of people typing Little Big Planet instead of LittleBigPlanet, the way it's meant to be. OMFG

wow the lbp community is so creative. i can't stop playing that gradius remake level. i made a level called planet of the ancient sackboys so if you could try that out, that would be cool. people seem to have liked it so i'm making a part 2. also, how do you save levels to your hard drive? i seem to remember that being an option for levels.

Let me pose this to the community and see if anyone has any more insight into the answer than me.

If I use Internet Explorer as part of an effort to hack a website, I am the one legally responsible - not MS. MS may have made the tool I used, but I used it inappropriately.

Why, then, doesn't the same logic apply to, let's say, LittleBigPlanet? Sony / MM provided me a tool. If I use that tool to make a level that infringes on someone else's copyright, why then are Sony and MM (mostly Sony as it turns out) concerned about moderating my level? Seems to me it's like blaming a bullet manufacturer for a shooting victim's death.

Also, I stand by my previous assertions that LBP would (at least in the US) count as parody, and as such be covered under fair use. You couldn't make an exact copy of the "expression" that is a level from another game. Sony isn't directly profiting from user generated levels (not yet at least) soooooo why damage the community so badly by deleting levels like Azure Palace for (seemingly) no good reason?

Just my two cents.

azure palace didn't get deleted. i was playing it today. but you're pretty much right. that amazing god of war level pretty much only had the god of war symbol (which is a freakin' greek letter!) and the name of the game in its title so it got deleted even though its owned by sony! i guess if they let some things slide, they would have to explain every single little violation. it makes sense if you look at it like that.

It is a matter of their network and their servers being used to distribute the potentially infringing material.

I agree that you have a strong argument on the sense of parody in some instances of these user-generated levels etc.
