Lips commercial: You will never sleep again

We're ~~a little~~ very confused as to what Microsoft is attempting to achieve through this TV spot for its karaoke title, Lips, which releases this week. Is it trying to sell the game – or cure any suffering narcoleptics who happen to see it of their inability to stay awake?

If the latter's the case, we salute Microsoft on trying to make life better for sufferers of the condition. If not, and it's just a video game ad, we're not sure people will even want to leave their houses to buy the game, for fear of running into this ... thing. Or even ordering Lips online ... only to have a bipedal mouth appear at their door, the package clutched in its teeth.

that was actually kind of funny, but having it made out of CG just made it look creepy, should have been animated (cartoon)

Better yet, it should have been hand-drawn like the video for the song.

They've been playing this ad in Australia for quite a few weeks now...

Not that it means anything

I kinda liked it, looking at the pic above the video I thought it was gonna be really weird... but the ending really wrapped it all up.

...and so the nightmares begin. Again.

I actually think that this is some good advertising. It got my attention and kept it. Plus, the song was pure genius.

Pretty decent ad IMO. The still photo in the article made it seem much worse than it really was.

Sony got revenge on Microsoft by giving them their ad agency apparently.

Those big lips have some pretty fat legs...

the only big error I can see is the lack of gameplay video and it doesnt show whats different about this game compared to the competition (tapping the microphones and moving it up for the "star-power-thing")

at least it says lips and then xbox 360, maybe some parents will figure it out and not come home with WiiMusic as a gift to a Wii-less kid...

Game play footage would be a good idea for a game for hardcore gamers but this is for casual gamers and they don't care as much about the exact details of game play.
