MMOFPS Huxley not launching in US this year
Acronym-heavy MMOFPS (as in, "Massively Multiplayer Online First-Person Shooter") Huxley will not be making its planned 2008 launch, according to NHN USA (via Big Download). The US publisher had announced in June that it would bring the game (currently in beta in Korea) here late this year, but said more time was needed for localization.
There is no new release date, but given the flood of great titles at the end of the year (not to mention that other MMO Wrath of the Lich King), we're not too bummed about the delay.

This used to be such a hyped-up game. Now it just looks like crap.

Aww...hell, back to TF2. Or L4D rather.
Jakka ( The Order of Haters of Balance) @ Nov 17th 2008 5:40PM
Speaking of which, that game sure gets a lot of attention. Even my mates who don't game pre-ordered it right after we played the demo together. I'm even surprised to find people who are barely connected to gaming talking about it.
Kinda sad in a way, considering how few people knows about CSS or TF2 in comparison. Guess it's the "Everything is more awesome with zombies" syndrome.
The_Punisher @ Nov 17th 2008 5:46PM
I didn't find L4D very special....fairly average actually. Guess i'm spoiled by Holiday 2008 >.
M @ Nov 17th 2008 6:09PM
Reloading!
tawmtawm @ Nov 17th 2008 6:19PM
I also found Left 4 Dead mediocore.
It's a shame that all my friends are too busy playing Halo 3, Call of duty and gears to realise how good TF2 on the pc is. They still think pc gaming is "gay".
lawlersauce @ Nov 17th 2008 6:35PM
CSS sucks dude...seriously, there is a reason people don't talk about it.
1.6 is the true Counter-Strike, with better hitboxes and hit-reg. Counter-Strike: Source makes me feel like I'm running around with a giant head with a target on it.
Besides, the recoil on it is awful.
The only thing that game has over CS1.6 is graphics.
Zeus.:God @ Nov 17th 2008 7:05PM
Lawlersauce, are you kidding? CS:S is the most played multiplayer FPS in the world- it even tops Halo 2 and 3. As a matter of fact, if I'm not mistaken, the only game that tops it at all is World of Warcraft.
Also, I'm not going to lie, CS:S is worlds better than 1.6, and I was an avid player. CS:S is just, all around, a better game, and if you feel the way you say you do, then you haven't played it in a long, long, LONG time.
brickwalker0 @ Nov 17th 2008 8:01PM
weird, i had some non-gamers talk to me about L4D as well.
im stoked about it myself. i still need to get TF2 though... :P
Churchy @ Nov 17th 2008 5:38PM
I thought this was vaporware...
run n gun 26 @ Nov 17th 2008 10:45PM
Me too. I remember reading a preview of it in an EGM in 2006, thinking of how awesome it would be. Two and a half years later, nothing.
umm....hello??? @ Nov 17th 2008 5:49PM
I was excited for this until I found it required a monthly subscription fee in addition to the $50 XBL fee. pass. plenty of online FPS's that I can play WITHOUT a subscription.
Levi @ Nov 17th 2008 5:58PM
They aren't massive. This is supposed to be as massive as any MMORPG, with quests, XP, leveling, looting, PVP, PVE, etc. If that's not your thing, that's cool, but there's not 1 game out there like it. Not Halo, not GoW, not even Planetside.
Dirk Dorkelson @ Nov 17th 2008 6:05PM
I don't think it's "in addition to" the XBL fee. I'm pretty sure the 360 version is "on hold" until the PC version is done. My guess is this title will end up as PC-only.
umm....hello??? @ Nov 17th 2008 6:27PM
whoops...didn't see that this was for the PC...well, that about counts me out then since I don't have a strong enough PC to do the graphics justice...
Omega2k3 @ Nov 18th 2008 11:48PM
Well, guy, it's in addition to a FREE Silver Account, or just on the PC. You don't need two subs to run the game, just like FFXI.
Also, the game looks damn good, and dev time at 2-3 years is a good amount of time to really polish a game instead of rape it by putting unrealistic deadlines or pushing it out the door and losing quality. 2-3 is like a shining glorious period of time where a game could be absolutely goddamn outstanding.
Levi @ Nov 17th 2008 6:00PM
I'm pretty disappointed about this. I'm part of the crowd that has been eagerly awaiting this game since it was announced in 2005. The whole time I played Wow (for the few months till I turned level 40 and sol my account ftw), all I could think of was how awesome a game would be if it was structured like WoW but a bonafide FPS. This is that game...
...just please finish it...
Misfit Toy @ Nov 17th 2008 6:58PM
Better than it being MIA as some had called it. I'd rather wait then it drop off the radar. I got plenty of games to play till then anyways. Thank you holiday onslaught.
Zeus.:God @ Nov 17th 2008 7:07PM
I don't care if they delay it as long as the final product is done right.
mr bean @ Nov 17th 2008 7:21PM
Good. Get back to a bricks-and-mortar game [incl.single player] like GoW2. You aint gonna take on the likes of WoW and win-you'll lose your trousers. No soup for you, kids!
EasterSmoot @ Nov 17th 2008 8:18PM
If this is anything like Planetside was before SoE Star Wars Galaxy'd the game over, then they have my money.

At this point who gives a shit? The development on this game has been far to long with what very little than has been shown being awful. Tabula Rasa was an epic fail and MMO's just don't work as FPS. This game has been off my radar and will remain there unless they completely blow me away. Not likely. Figured it was vaporware like Alan Wake has become.
Amoveo @ Nov 18th 2008 12:38AM
Doesn't surprise me at all. This game could really be something special, but it's starting to smell like vaporware. Still holding out hope though.
t_m @ Nov 18th 2008 5:37AM
How is MMOFPS worse than MMORPG? 1..2..3..4..5..6!
On the one hand, it'd be nice if the MMO field was wider than simply CRPGs.
On the other hand, i don't really want to play an MMO in any form...
Chase @ Nov 18th 2008 5:38AM
Not released this year? No shit.
IanH @ Nov 18th 2008 7:23AM
I knew IJJI was going to phail on me once again. They can't handle a game like Huxley. That's why I moved to playing Outspark games. They could.
mismajor99 @ Nov 18th 2008 8:47AM
Well, we did kinda suspect this, when the boards went dark about it, but back in May/June they were still saying this was coming in the US, probably trying to keep interest.
Sign me up, in the meantime, it's a smart thing, with all the releases coming out. This will make a perfect 2009 game.
