New games this week: Left 4 Dead edition
Yikes, we thought we were past the worst of it, but this week could be, in quantity terms, the most crushing one this year. We've got Left 4 Dead, Need For Speed Undercover, the new Animal Crossing, the well-reviewed Last Remnant, and, of course, LIPS.
Is there more to see? You bet your sweet bippy there is. Just keep repeating to yourself: "I'll miss these weeks in April. I'll miss these weeks in April."

Argh. I haven't even had a chance to try the demo. At this rate it'll be February before I find the time...
Mark C @ Nov 17th 2008 10:32AM
Well, the demo ends tonight...so I hope you find some time before that =P
Dr. @ Nov 17th 2008 10:43AM
Yeah, and that's a little ridiculous. I'm sure I'll get a chance to try the game out at a friends at some point.
Obie @ Nov 17th 2008 12:14PM
I played the demo non-stop since it came out.
The game is harder with 3 teammates, but amazing fun.
When playing alone your AI buddies are almost TOO good.
Still, cannot wait for this one!
Oh you guys can download the 360 instruction manual here:

Spallit @ Nov 17th 2008 12:16PM
What? What the heck is the point of a PC demo if you can't try it after the release of the game?
If you didn't try it before you have to buy it outright?
Dr. @ Nov 17th 2008 1:03PM
Here's hoping they do a free weekend every few months, like they do for TF2.
John Z @ Nov 17th 2008 8:39AM
Yeah, we're not gonna be "past the worst of it" until, at the earliest, February... 2014.
Anyway, I'm too busy to get much of anything this week. I've got a preorder in on Luminous Arc 2, and I'm looking forward to it, but I realistically won't even get to it until after Christmas. Too many good games.
Yoshi @ Nov 17th 2008 8:39AM
You put NFS Undercover twice on the PC game list.
Hopefully it's going to be good, but not so much that I'd buy it twice!
copa @ Nov 17th 2008 10:32AM
That's nothing. This is the THIRD week they've listed Rock Revolution as a release on the XBox 360.
This week, plus here:

plus here:

Forget it, Joystiq. Rock Revolution sold fewer than 3,000 copies:

Repeated promos are not going to boost your favorite rhythm gaming franchise, or improve your chances with your disgraced pretend girlfriend Lauren Faccidomo:

4/10 on IGN says not even once...
Mr Khan @ Nov 17th 2008 8:40AM
A solid week for all, then. A lot of stealth titles, too. I figured You're in the Movies was still a ways off, and i had assumed Castlevania Judgment had been delayed to December
flameofdoom666 @ Nov 17th 2008 8:49AM
It was until January 15th.

Khan,
Just to let you know that I went against my better judgement and bought animal crossing city folk over left 4 dead, last remnant & tomb raider. Traded in some older 360 games and thought what the hell I'll try it out. Never played animal crossing before but I wanted to balance out all the recent killing and violence with something casual and light hearted. Also got an additional 20% trade because it was a power trade game. Didn't get the wii speak bundle though as I have no need to chat on the wii. Essentially traded 6 games for one - such a ripoff!
I'll let you know if it's good or not. Even if I don't like it I can give it to the kids for Christmas. Thrifty.
Plus I want to get some use out of my Wii. I have enough violent games to last until this time next year. Anyway. Good to have a change of pace sometimes.

Hyams @ Nov 17th 2008 8:42AM
Left 4 Dead is awesome. I'd buy it for PC, but my Uni internet is so crappy I'd never be able to play online. =(
Einhanderkiller @ Nov 17th 2008 10:39AM
I found Left 4 Dead to be pretty playable with a "red" ping. There was around a .5 second delay to every shot, but it wasn't *that* bad. Certainly not as bad as playing a typical first-person shooter as you're fighting AI, not other humans. (Except if you're playing Versus or being a douchebag).
Hyams @ Nov 17th 2008 11:36AM
Yeah, but sometimes it's so slow I can't even load up the Google homepage.
On most goods days, simply browsing the internet is nigh on impossible, as it takes a good 5 minutes to load up each webpage, and half the time it doesn't even load the entire page, it just gives up half way through.
That's how crappy my internet is. Forget red ping, you need a whole new colour to describe just how slow my internet can be.
baby sea tuna @ Nov 17th 2008 8:46AM
Ugh. Not again! I genuinely thought I was going to finish Fallout this weekend to prep for L4D, but got detoured by The Colour and the Shape, Horde Mode, as well as an unexpected visit to The Republic of Dave.
I'll get it when I get it, I suppose...

What do we pay you for?! :-p

Petz Crazy Monkeyz
And the "Z" craziness continues! LMAO!!! I've also noticed there can't be a week where the Wii doesnt get a game without "Party" in it. Z and party, Im lloking out for ya. :P
Left 4 Dead!!!! Ive dl teh demo but havent had a chance to play because of Gears 2 and COD:WaW!
deABREU @ Nov 17th 2008 11:12AM
these L4D covers are the old ones, the actual release covers have the hand flipped, so it's a complete pun
wiinterfang @ Nov 17th 2008 9:05AM
I hope Sonic Unleashed is good :D.

I think you guys are using the older box version since they did change the hands on the cover. Oh well, thought I would point it out.
Sp1der X @ Nov 17th 2008 6:14PM
what he said, you used the old cover guys. come on!
samfish @ Nov 17th 2008 9:16AM
I'll be picking up Sonic Unleashed this week, methinks. The Wii version, since DIMPS made it and I don't really trust Sonic Team to deliver a non-buggy game.
Wiinterfang @ Nov 17th 2008 9:38AM
Ironically people are attacking Dimps beacause the wii version might be a speedfest but for me still looks fun.
I think both versions are different enough to warrant a rent. ( btw 8.0 from nintendo power)
Nigeria @ Nov 17th 2008 9:42AM
I'll probably buy the Xbox version for the reason Wiinterfang stated. If I buy it, that is.
samfish @ Nov 17th 2008 10:02AM
Hmm...apparently a new Catz game is out. Since there's something very, very wrong with me and I actually really enjoyed the first Catz game, I'm really interested in trying this new one!
Mr Khan @ Nov 17th 2008 11:02AM
Legend has it that the PS360 version is plagued with framerate drops
umm....hello??? @ Nov 17th 2008 9:20AM
I put the Last Remnant on my christmas list since it's only single player....Left4Dead this week though!
WiNG [Life in a Game] @ Nov 17th 2008 9:21AM
lol @ mentioning LIPS before Sonice or TR Underworld
baby sea tuna @ Nov 17th 2008 9:26AM
LOL @ Microsoft for wasting 1st party development resources on making ANOTHER karaoke game, when they've got a K-rev, RB, and GHWT on their system already. do they really need to compete with SingStar that badly?
Wiinterfang @ Nov 17th 2008 9:39AM
Microsoft don't want people to even think of Sony.
J @ Nov 17th 2008 9:23AM
I'm hoping Tomb Raider finds it's way back into the spotlight. The first one was the first game I actually beat on playstation, so it always has a place in my heart.
Terrence Newton @ Nov 17th 2008 11:00AM
word up man. crystal dynamics has been doing a good job w/ the series so far, and this one will prob. be their best effort yet. i'm looking fwd to it.
