Sonic Unleashed staggers release dates
Oh, semantics. Although it may have been believed that Sonic Unleashed was hitting retail tomorrow for all consoles, apparently those dates weren't "official." Sega has rectified that by announcing official launch dates today (via IGN) stating that the Wii and PS2 versions will be available tomorrow, while the Xbox 360 gets its werehog on next week. As for the PS3's Sonic Unleashed, it has been relegated to an indeterminate December date.
Yes, we know, dear Xbox 360 and PS3 owners, whatever else shall you play while waiting for Sonic Unleashed?!

The farther away I can stay away from this game the better!
anonim1979 @ Nov 18th 2008 12:11AM
Considering that last Sonic The Hedgehog for X360 and PS3 was such horrible mess gameplay wise and
with PS3 version - being multiplatform game and port - such a incredible s*** from technical point of view that it's hard to believe:

I too don't put much fait in new Sonic.
At all.
And the best Sonic game of 2008?
http://www.2pstart.com/2008/10/15/little-big-zone/
LBP ;)
Malascythe @ Nov 18th 2008 5:35PM
What you actually think this game will be good? C'mon the last Sonic game that was decent was on Dreamcast. After that it was downhill. But I dunno...It may surprise.
Mr French @ Nov 17th 2008 10:41PM
NXE is OUT. just got the update, woot!
Premature ejaculation man @ Nov 17th 2008 11:06PM
Even though it isn't the 19th for about 10 more hours, I had to check anyway.
You liar :(
Sora @ Nov 17th 2008 11:10PM
10 more hours? 25 here in the States.
tmacairjordan87 @ Nov 17th 2008 11:10PM
He's not lying per se, as I just got it too. Maybe they're doing a gradual release to try and offset the inevitable server crash?
DemonGSides @ Nov 18th 2008 12:13AM
If you read Major Nelson, he said that anyone who applied to get into the Beta, automatically gets in a day early.
Thats that.
Puli @ Nov 17th 2008 10:53PM
"whatever else shall you play while waiting for Sonic Unleashed?!"
The same things I'll be playing after Sonic come out. :P
Ranus Studios @ Nov 17th 2008 10:57PM
They'll be playing... the last Sonic game that came out for the 360 and PS3?
Premature ejaculation man @ Nov 17th 2008 11:01PM
By the time the game is loaded, Sonic Unleashed will be out.
tmontana213 @ Nov 17th 2008 10:58PM
"whatever else shall you play while waiting for Sonic Unleashed?!"
All the games that don't suck...
Ironhammer @ Nov 17th 2008 10:59PM
Put a leash on the Sonic posts already!
chulipin @ Nov 17th 2008 11:02PM
Even better, put a leash on terrible Sonic 3D games with flurry companions.
The Fatass of Kickassness @ Nov 17th 2008 11:05PM
Hey, at least this time around the new shitty friend doesn't seem quite as shitty as previous ones.
Jacksons @ Nov 17th 2008 11:49PM
@TFoK
There's a box quote if I ever saw one.
Chase @ Nov 17th 2008 11:02PM
Tell me something, my friend. You ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?
Cj @ Nov 17th 2008 11:06PM
SEGA- "So shall we make Shenmue 3 and make MILLIONS?, or another sonic game....with a twist!?"
Mr Khan @ Nov 18th 2008 8:52AM
You realize that the original Shenmue is responsible for the death of the Dreamcast, right?
Wiinterfang @ Nov 18th 2008 11:36AM
Should we make another Shenmue and Lose millions? or should we make another sonic game that will Sell regardless of it's quality?
Shattercross @ Nov 18th 2008 11:58AM
Not as much as the failures of the Sega CD, 32X, and Sega Saturn all in succession did.
Sora @ Nov 17th 2008 11:09PM
For a second, I read "semantics" as "semitics". That definitely made for an awkward article...
chulipin @ Nov 17th 2008 11:15PM
First the Force and now Sonic...if Zelda's next game is "The Legend of Zelda: The Triforce Unleashed" it will be the only Zelda game I wont buy >:(
Cena @ Nov 18th 2008 12:13AM
Interestingly, I would buy a game called "The Legend of Zelda: The Triforce Unleashed," just because the lead character would be a guest character in Soulcalibur V. *wink wink*
Alien Lord @ Nov 17th 2008 11:30PM
"whatever else shall you play while waiting for Sonic Unleashed?!"
Something worth playing!
-Vexx- @ Nov 17th 2008 11:51PM
Also in IGN the 360 and PS3 has frame rate issues.
Covarr @ Nov 17th 2008 11:59PM
If I understand correctly, the Wii version is made by DIMPS rather than Sega, and will have different level design etc. I might just buy the Wii version now and the PS3 version in a month.
Snowblind @ Nov 18th 2008 7:51AM
Dimps are doing the 360/PS3 versions. The Wii version is only different because it's MISSING levels, and doesn't have any of the alternate paths you can take in the other versions.
Mr Khan @ Nov 18th 2008 8:55AM
If i've read it correctly, what the Wii version is missing is the overworld, which, given my experience with Adventure's overworld, is a good thing
I didn't know about the alternate path thing, that kinda sucks
samfish @ Nov 18th 2008 10:16AM
Snowblind is completely incorrect. DIMPS is only working on the Wii and PS2 versions. Sonic Team is working on the PS360 versions.
It's also not missing levels. It just doesn't have an overworld hub, and absolutely has alternate paths. The daytime stage design is different in general from the PS360 version, though.
Wiinterfang @ Nov 18th 2008 11:37AM
Actually the wii version doesn't have neither Africa or America stages.
Simstim @ Nov 18th 2008 12:28AM
Maybe the PS3 version is delayed so they can remove the weredog, crappy sidekicks and rework the level design.
Or maybe not.
Zertoss @ Nov 18th 2008 12:36AM
I'm sure there's a joke somewhere in Dimps getting their Sonic game out before Sonic Team.
While waiting for the 360 release, I'll be playing Fable 2, BK: Nuts & Bolts and Mirror's Edge. On my PC, I'll be continuing my epic misadventures in Fallout 3.
JoeArc @ Nov 18th 2008 12:52AM
At least give the game a chance before you diss it.
Oh right, no demo. Thanks Sega!
JoeArc @ Nov 18th 2008 12:55AM
Why does everyone hate the werehog when it's potentially a fun part of the game?
ryan @ Nov 18th 2008 2:11AM
Because it's time taken away from the parts that actually are fun and are actually true to what the Sonic franchise stands for.
Imagine vehicle segments filling up half the time you spend in a Metal Gear Solid game. Yeah, we don't want to fuck with a good thing.
SonicTHP @ Nov 18th 2008 1:19AM
My kingdom for a game journalist that likes the Sonic series. Oh wait...there is one...over at HardcoreGamer.com.
God bless Racewing.
Abalistar @ Nov 18th 2008 1:29AM
Am I the only person kinda excited about this game?
Holy crap, besides the last PS3/360 one, the Sonic games haven't been that freaking bad in 3D. Mediocre maybe, but he's due for a truly excellent one, damn it!
Chase @ Nov 18th 2008 5:30AM
According to Casamassina and other IGN editors, the non-werewolf parts are fun but the werewolf parts are terrible.
Way to go, Sega. It sounds like you had a good game. Somewhere. Underneath the fur.
Sam @ Nov 18th 2008 6:30AM
I wish they could make a decent Sonic game again. I miss the little blue burr, he was one of the best things about the 16bit era. Maybe Media Molecule should have a go at it.

brent @ Nov 18th 2008 8:44AM
why is it so hard for sega to understand that gamers want a sonic game to be a speed based platformer without the crappy cutscenes or sucky friend characters. thats it, thats all...seems simple enough but now look! he's a were...hog or some crap. they've put him on a hoverboard they've given him a gun (yes i know technically it wasn't him, fanboys)...all we want is sonic....running very fast...collecting rings and fighting bosses! simple!!
DCBlack @ Nov 18th 2008 12:40PM
I'm still buying this game because I haven't learned my lesson yet, but maybe Sega should just spend their time making Sonic the Hedgehog II Turbo HD Remix with Orchestra Score.
