In preparation for the NXE launch this Wednesday, Xbox.com and the Xbox forums will go offline for about four hours starting at 12:01AM Pacific today, Nov. 18.
According to Major Nelson, this will "NOT" affect Xbox Live and service should remain (relatively) reliable. If things do go wrong with the Live service, be sure to leave little love letters to Microsoft in the comments below.

I had a few disconnects last week when the small problems were recognized by Major Nelson. Nothing major but it was kind of annoying that my entire team and myself were disconnected from our Horde match at around wave 18 & 21. Not the end of the world but it was a very small annoyance. I was actually relieved to hear it was issues with Live and not my connection per se.

E must be having a huge amount of fun.
All these blockbuster games coming out. Then the record breaking Live Gears of War 2...
And then the NXE launch which they have been soft launching for weeks now, finishing up with the full launch on the 19th.
E and his guys must have had a real fun past month.
I think we should all send E a thank you letter for keeping Live up and running with no major issues. I'll take a few disconnects over not being able to get on in the first place thank you very much.

At about 10:50pm the update blade popped up on my screen after I got disconnected from Live! and said there was a console update.
Turns out it was NXE. Why did I get the update early? I didn't sign up for the thing on Major Nelsons site.
I think that because today (18th) is my birthday Microsoft gave me a present! YAY!
Well, that's what I like to think.
And it's awesome. Took a little getting used to but it's all good now.

Has it been anounced exactly when NXE is supposed to launch this Wednesday? I'm running the NXE beta and cannot access Live until the official launch.

I really couldn't care less about what you think about installing the update early. I was asking if anyone knows when it launches officially.

Wow, you're just severely retarded aren't you? What's so fucking hard to understand? I'm not interested in your opinion on anything. I was asking if someone knows what time the NXE is officially launched. My god you're retarded.

I signed up for the early download and got into the "no wait but not VIP" group AKA everyone else.
The 360 runs so quietly now that I installed games onto my 120 GB HDD. :3

Last night whilst playing Gears 2 Co-Op I was booted off xboxlive (mid chainsaw no less) to be greeted with the NXE. I dont know why I got early access but I did and its pretty cool. The menu's move a lot faster and things like themes and gamer pics load a hella of a lot faster.
Played some Gears without the disc spinning and it is strangely quiet and its nice to feel like my xbox isnt going to explode every time I play a game.
