The Agency 'canceled' according to GameFly notice [update]

We've contacted both GameFly and SOE for clarification. GameFly only carries console games, so, if it holds up, the cancellation may only affect the PS3 version. We'll update as soon as we hear anything.
Update 2: SOE's official quote to Joystiq: "Sony Online Entertainment's game, The Agency, is still in development for release on both the PlayStation 3 and PC platforms. The game sku has been reinstated to GameFly's website. Feel free to add The Agency to your GameQ!"
Update: SOE has confirmed with PS3 Fanboy that The Agency is not canceled.

GameFly notice:
"Dear ****,
"We have removed The Agency (cancelled) for PlayStation 3 from your GameQ. There are two possible reasons for this removal:
"(1) For released titles, we no longer carry the game and do not know if or when we will acquire new copies.
"(2) For unreleased titles, the game has been cancelled by its publisher.
"We apologize for any disappointment this may cause. If you have any questions, please contact us."

You can buy heels in a shop.
Mitsuo @ Nov 18th 2008 11:13PM
can't, mah feetz are too big. I highly doubt they sell size 14W in retail stores.
NaeemTHM @ Nov 18th 2008 10:46AM
Yet some how 50 Cent's game continues to get made...truly there is no justice.
samfish @ Nov 18th 2008 10:47AM

The Rumorang always comes back to hit you in the face.
Haggard @ Nov 18th 2008 11:20AM
Why would Gamefly, a console game rental company, stock an MMO anyway?
Dog the Body Hunter @ Nov 18th 2008 10:56AM
Well, that would have been a shame

Interestingly, I've seen these GameFly notices on a couple other forums for games that are indeed still coming out, saying they were "canceled."
They should seriously reword their form letter. Saying so definitively that a game was "canceled by its publisher" is quite drastic when it's clear that have no clue what they're talking about.

Pretty ingenious way to increase traffic for your service's site...

i'm still pissed Sony canceled Eight Days - that had by far the best implantation of a cover-system i've seen in a game. good that The Agency hasn't followed a similar route, and hopefully it won't.
Stranger @ Nov 18th 2008 1:40PM
You actually played Eight Days?
atrimus @ Nov 18th 2008 1:54PM
there have been gameplay videos circulating for months, which specifically show Eight Days animation and its cover system. doesn't always take playing a game to see what it's about.
PN04 @ Nov 18th 2008 12:21PM
They canceled it because they dont know when it's coming out and frankly how do you rent out an MMO anyway? Assuming they still intent to go without a monthly fee, okay fine it's just another shooter but with it not out yet and there being a possibility that it could change at some point it seems silly to even have on their roster.
PN04 @ Nov 18th 2008 12:23PM
By "canceled it" I'm refering to game fly pulling it from their list, Not sony. They've comited resources to online gaming which is the excuse they gave for canceling Eight Days, so it'd be stupid for them to actually cancel an online game. It's still coming out.
Sackolantern PSN ID: johnnynumber5 @ Nov 18th 2008 1:20PM
Glad to hear this one is not actually being cancelled. I have some high hopes for this game.
Stranger @ Nov 18th 2008 1:39PM
Or perhaps they're planning a PSN only release for the game? Being that it's an 'mmo', and that one would need to be online to play the game, this scenario sorta makes sense...

+1. That's a very good point.
