Fable 2 is a lot of fun, at least up until the point where you realize your 20-30 hour investment in a character is lost as a result of one of many, many game-ending bugs. Some (like the Abbot bug, or my particular bugbear Nightmare Hollow) you can plan for and work around; some just crop up seemingly at random and flush your hero down the toilet.

I have no desire to start another character now; there's too much that can go wrong. Worse, Lionhead's silence on this is deafening. There's some vague talk of a December patch but to date I haven't seen anything concrete on the official forums - or anything to suggest that anyone at the company feels a scintilla of embarrassment over what is the most seriously glitched console game I have EVER bought.

I've played complex RPGs like Oblivion exhaustively on next-gen consoles - hell, I've even had time to finish Fallout 3 since my Fable guy got stuck forever in Nightmare Hollow. They wig out occasionally; Fallout froze up ten minutes into my first playthrough. But at least with Fallout or Oblivion or any of those sorts of games, I can revert to a previous save and attempt a workaround. That's impossible with Fable, and it transforms a slightly unfinished rush-job of a game into something downright unplayable.

I have two reasons for replying to this comment. Firstly because my game-ending bug was happily fixed with a replacement of the disc, thus showing that not all the issues are with the shoddy programming, some are caused by the shoddy manufacturing too!

Secondly because I want to hum Torgo's theme tune. Da-do-do-do, Da-do-do-do, Da-do-do-do, Da-do-do-do...

torgo-
u can always revert back to a previous point in the game.

whenever you enter a new quest or area,
you can always pause the game, goto the regions map, pick a place to travel, and then you will be prompted with the message:
" to return to this area, you will be reverted back to a previous save point in the game and all current progress will be erased"

heck my game froze 1 time and all i did was restart the system and guess what i was only about 10 minutes of gameplay behind where i froze due to the game auto saving from time to time.

that is how you revert back to a previous save.
you have to leave the region from the regions map.
it erases current progress.
PROBLEM SOLVED.
cry baby.

Except you can't do that in Nightmare Hollow, because it's a dream sequence. The map menu item is greyed out. The only way to progress is to kill a bunch of hobbes, one of which has got stuck in an inaccessible blue hell and is impervious to any attack.

So, thanks for your concern; but I'm not an idiot.

torgo- lol.
you wouldnt guess how many people dont know that and have said they were stuck in the game.

sound like you hit a dead end.
i dunno.
happens. gta4 some people could not play, but millions could.
luck of the draw i guess.

Yeah, I was unlucky. As a Grim Warning to Others: it's very reproducible and not that unlikely. Start chucking Lvl.5 spells around in Nightmare Hollow and you stand a good chance of being shafted.

On the topic of themes, weren't they supposed to rotate? Like phase from picture to picture? As it is now that doesn't seem to be happening and only when I go into specific sections like system settings or my videos does it change, and I cant find a way to fix it
