New Avatar fashions planned every two weeks for six months
An Avatar ad on the NXE states that new fashions will be added every two weeks and will be noted by a gold star. Xbox Live Product Unit Manager Jerry Johnson confirms that new accessories will be added for at least the next half a year.
According to Johnson, the new fashions will be implemented in packs. We've already noticed that some clothing options have been taken away, like the "wife-beater" (no, it wasn't called that on the NXE). No word yet if these packs will cost anything, but we do know that Microsoft is considering it. What, you don't think the virtual Louis Vuitton bag or Marc Jacobs outfit (not the game designer) will be free, do you?

More than new outfits I'd rather have the option to change the colour pallet of the existing clothing pieces. That and a goatee + sideburns option (hey, if my avatar is supposed to be me, he better have sideburns with the chin scruff).
YouStayClassy @ Nov 19th 2008 2:23PM
HELL YES to being able to change clothing colours. Also, can we gets some Catholic schoolgirl outfits, Wicked Weasel bikinis, cheerleader outfits, and Victoria Secret lingerie please Microsoft?
Youthinized @ Nov 19th 2008 3:56PM
here here on color changing!
Tiptup300 @ Nov 19th 2008 4:27PM
Why can't I modify the color of clothes? I wouldn't want the "TSHIRT PACK! that includes your favorites: Red, Green, Blue, Orange, Perri winkle, & Plum (Purple)"
SpydaKat 17 @ Nov 19th 2008 9:17PM
I know, the dress shirt with the tie would be better if it were black.
Alex @ Nov 19th 2008 2:11PM
Oh delicious anne hathaway.
xFenixKnightx @ Nov 19th 2008 2:21PM
Obligatory,
I'd hit it!
She has some "tired eyes" most of the time but when she doesn't she is flawlessly beautiful.
[playwhutyalike {C.E.P}] @ Nov 19th 2008 2:47PM
I'd hit em both!
Alex, you get the camera, and xFenixKnightX can handle the audio.
Obie @ Nov 19th 2008 3:13PM
Eiffel tower!!!
Jakka ( The Order of Haters of Balance) @ Nov 19th 2008 3:20PM
I'd hit playwhutyalike hitting them two!

You are all so abusive... :(
Superstar90 @ Nov 19th 2008 2:12PM
If they just add the option to change colours and patterns, it would exponentially increase the variety. Add in even one of those colour mixer tools and patterns like plaid, polka dot, stripes etc.
Also, some shirt sleeves that fit plz!!!

whhy anyone would want to spend money on a avatar is beyond me i try to only by the tangible things in life.
Shagittarius @ Nov 19th 2008 2:50PM
I'd consider spending a little more on your next avatar. ;)
Farseer (GDI) @ Nov 19th 2008 5:10PM
tangible things like... oh, I don't know... drugs and alcohol?
why not the LS2LS7? @ Nov 19th 2008 2:21PM
Ridiculous. I already don't like the NXE (because the in-game UI is now as slow as PS3 among other things) and this only makes me less excited about it.
Marty @ Nov 19th 2008 5:28PM
It's faster than the blades, so I'm not sure what the hell you're talking about.
Cole @ Nov 19th 2008 2:23PM
I would be very interested in new clothing options as long as they are free. I've already changed my avatar 3 times since i got NXE on monday. Its fun to do, but now that everyone is going to have avatars, mine wont be as original. New clothes would help that alot, even custom colors. Just as long as they are free.
SlimPickinz96 @ Nov 19th 2008 2:25PM
Hey Blizz, i guess you'll be getting your "black baseball cap" after all. OR, every other color and style besides black. ;)
Big yellow Sombrero's, Olive green Army helmet's, Grey Fedora's, Purple Pimp hat's.
Glee!

I tried my damndest to keep from typing this but the fact that you did it 4 times in one sentence forced my hand.

color options, and more eye (better) and nose options. I hate how the white area of the eye is skin colored. It's obvious that the avatar system is geared toward making white people. I think the placement system for Miis is way better at making people more closely matching themselves. The NXE has the extreme benefit of being able to update constantly unlike the Mii's this is all you get system, but at least with Mii's given the restraints you can be a lot more creative with it. I know I wouldn't be able to make admiral Akbar with the NXE, the piece options leave a LOT to be desired. I'm not talking a bethesda ugly person creator, but they've simplified this too much.
SlimPickinz96 @ Nov 19th 2008 2:29PM
Most likely MS is going to charge for the new gear, but i dont think that would be a wise choice. IMO its acceptable if its 1$ worth of MS points, IF they must charge. Otherwise, games over avatar tinkering any day.
waves @ Nov 19th 2008 2:35PM
Obviously they're going to charge for these, but I think it would be a good idea to adopt what LBP is doing, and make sure to release a free outfit or item along with every set of 'premium' clothes. It gets people more into the DLC, and might convince them to spend $$ somewhere down the line. Plus they wouldn't generate as much ill will among those of us who don't pay for digital clothes.
Alien Lord @ Nov 19th 2008 2:39PM
I found the avatar editor a lot better then the Mii editor, I was forced to make my Mii look human instead of a Trow (Dark Elf for those who don't know.
zuburi @ Nov 19th 2008 3:05PM
NERRRRRRRRRRRDS!!!!!
Snowblind @ Nov 19th 2008 2:40PM
The ad itself does say some of these packs will be free. I welcome the idea of new clothing options, and again, it's not really any different from having to buy LBP costumes.
MC Double Def DP @ Nov 19th 2008 2:42PM
Definately need to keep the new style of clothes free. However, offering NFL licensed clothes or band t-shirts for $$$ would be acceptable and I think would be sell pretty decently.
F1shBone @ Nov 20th 2008 10:23AM
Thats a fantastic Idea! My avatar would totally be rock'n a Mars Volta T or a Caron Butler jersey. Those are things that would make a statement about myself.
Kizzle @ Nov 19th 2008 2:47PM
Know what really blows? About a week ago there were a lot more clothing options available. Most notably, there were 6 or 7 suits you could choose from...it is now whittled down to 2. They stripped out a bunch of avatar stuff for the public launch.
baby sea tuna @ Nov 19th 2008 3:10PM
Why give the milk for free, when they can force you to buy the cow one-bit-at-a-time?
Odog4ever @ Nov 19th 2008 4:23PM
Actually it makes perfect sense that they stripped out a lot of the clothing options. Instead of having to scroll through pages and pages of clothes that don't fit my personal tastes I can just download the pack that make sense in my "digital closet".
I remember seeing an avatar picture of a guy in a pink bunny outfit. I would never put that shit on my avatar so why have it take up space on the screen and on my hard drive? I know personally I would like more hats to chose from but don't care about the shoes that much. There are plenty of people out there that are the opposite. We shouldn't be forced to scroll through 100 pieces we don't like just to get to the one we love.
R @ Nov 19th 2008 2:49PM
I have a poor mans HD setup. I have a hannspree monitor with both VGA and HDMI ports. up till now its worked great with my 360, but after applying this update I have no audio no matter what I do. audio works on my pos TV, but not with my monitors build in speakers or external speakers.
Wtf do I do?
[.sm0ke.] @ Nov 19th 2008 3:51PM
Check your cables. I have the same type of setup, and I'm getting sound just fine.
R @ Nov 19th 2008 3:53PM
not my cables and its not just me. Im hearing reports on different places that its a bug that is effecting multiple people with hdmi. theres a work around, but it didnt work for me.

It's ANITA! AN-EE-TA DAAAHLING!
That is from 101 Dalmations, right?
drsashamd @ Nov 19th 2008 10:57PM
No, its The Devil Wears Prada.
Which, in all honesty, isn't that bad of a chick flick....
Mainly because of hot hot Anne Hathaway.
carg0 @ Nov 19th 2008 3:09PM
are you kidding?
M$ has been nickel-&-diming live subscribers since day one. of course they're going to charge us.
the only issue they're discussing is how much they think they can get for each "pack".
Morning Toast @ Nov 19th 2008 3:19PM
If they charge for XBMii accessories then that's a friggin' joke. It's one thing if we could use the XBMii's in games or something but if they just serve as happy "party chat" people then I can't imagine anyone buying crap for that.
Of course, there are a lot of stupid people with money to burn out there. So who knows.
Weezer @ Nov 19th 2008 3:37PM
Yesh, the shirt selection sucks. It looks like JC Penney and AE had a one night stand baby. I see JC Penny as the single struggling mom. AE is the no good dad who won't pay child support.
[.sm0ke.] @ Nov 19th 2008 3:50PM
I created a girl just out of curiosity, and I'd like to know who at Microsoft thought one page of shoes - ONE PAGE - would be enough.
My dude is just fine though.
Tiptup300 @ Nov 19th 2008 4:28PM
Got a thing for shoes? Wanna talk about it?
[.sm0ke.] @ Nov 19th 2008 4:49PM
Not what I meant... Girls creating avatars are gonna be like WHAT ONLY EIGHT PAIRS OF SHOES? BUT I HAVE 30 IRL!
Meanwhile, I have my Chucks and my non-slip shoes for work.
MKA @ Nov 19th 2008 3:58PM
The whole avatar thing doesnt do much for me... and this doesnt really make it any more appealing.
Karen @ Nov 19th 2008 4:20PM
Oddly enough a lot of the clothing option in the NXE I also had in my real world closet. So getting my avatar dressed was really easy. But it did bring up a question do I have bad taste in cloths or good because NXE had them also?
P.S. I loved that movie.
Bennyishere @ Nov 19th 2008 4:34PM
They updated the store a week ago or so. Suddenly there were loads of stuff with gold stars attached.
WookieePants @ Nov 19th 2008 7:29PM

I am blown away there is no Hoodie.
Hoodies are a staple of gamers everywhere.
Premature ejaculation man @ Nov 19th 2008 7:46PM
They need to add top hats.
AtomicPhread @ Nov 19th 2008 9:13PM
I don't really care about "fashions" for the avatars. What I want to see is game character costumes, either complete or in pieces that we can use.
For some reason I want to see my avatar w/ Isaac's helmet from Dead Space...to go with the tropical shirt...
