I have my Megadrive and SF2 Turbo. Ill just stick to that. And for the record the Megadrive has the best d-pad of all time. And if you live in the US I mean Genesis.

How can you compare to that pixelated 90's game to a HD remake. And you can play against friends.

Classic Mode FTW! I probably wouldn't even consider buying this if all it had was "Remix Mode". People have been playing this game for over a decade, no need to rebalance this imo.

I will buy it on the PS3. Better controller for the game and I won't have to have some strange number of MS points for the purchase. The PSN uses actually currency so I can pay for just the game with nothing left over.

Oddly enough that's why I'm getting the 360 one. Cause I still have a ton of points left over from when I got a 4000pt ($50) card for $40. One of the best parts about an arbitrary points system. Retailers don't pat attention and will somewhat frequently discount or give them away. 360 folks could have gotten SFHD for free if they got Gears Of War 2 from Circuit City.

It looks like I'll have to get it on 360, as we don't yet have those PSN cards in Canada. I would have preferred the better dpad as well.

We don't use our credit card on PSN. Wifey no likey.

Some online retailers will sell you PSN cards from different regions. Then all you have to do is make a US PSN account, and you are all set.

I can see now that playing online you'll come up against someone who will constantly use Ryu and his infamous "HADOKEN" fireball as its the only move they know. I think you should be able to report this to Capcom and they'll send an employee round to their house. He'll be wearing a sack on his head and will cut them into pieces with a chainsaw. I would go for something less extreme but move repition and button bashing are two things I can't stand. Rant over.

Don't be a scrub. If you can't deal with Hadouken spam, then you have no business playing SF2. Spamming Hadouken isn't as easy as it sounds; the slightest error will lead to serious punishment. All it takes is one jump-in to confirm a loss; jump-in combo is guaranteed dizzy and the followup is guaranteed death. SF2 is known for having some wildly inescapable traps; Hadouken traps are moderately easier to do then many of the tickthrows and frametraps, but it's all still part of the game.

Plus, any trap in SF2 is escapable, even if it is only a one frame chance.

I love the Playstation d-pad. I actually use it for SF2 on the PC. I don't have a PS3 however so obviously I'll get it for 360.

I'm not making excuses for the 360 d-pad but it takes time to "break it in". It's an acquired taste. It still won't make you block accurately like the PS3 d-pad. But a lot of people manage to do great things with it.

Is there like a 3rd party 360 controller with a d-pad that isn't the shittiest thing in the world?
Because between this and Battle Fantasia, I would be quite interested in having a controller that doesn't work against me.

You could go with the Hori fighting stick. It's a little awkward because the joystick sits in a square track (and clicks like crazy), but it eliminates the D-pad problem for fighting games.

I'm going to pick this and SF4 up, but I haven't played too often since the arcade days and fully expect to get beaten over and over online then get frustrated and move on to something else that doesn't leave me screaming at the TV scaring my dog.

I'm not so sure about "Remix Mode", but I'll definitely be playing this for the Classic Mode. Online HSF2 for Xbox1 is awful, mostly because you can't find matches, and I don't know many people in real life that play ST. For all I know, Remix Mode is great, but I really don't think ST needed rebalancing. It's a matchup heavy game, but it's one of the more balanced games out there.

At jimiisama. I never said I could'nt get around it. I'd just much rather have a decent opponent than a twat. Surely you can't disagree with that. Thats why I will stick to my Megadriive as I can choose who I play against. As weird as that sounds in this day and age I don't feel beat-em ups were made to be played online.

Winning is winning, and abusing projectiles is part of SF2. I can understand your frustrations in dealing with projectile spammers; early on in the game, it's hard to get around, but overtime you learn to punish projectile spammers (the bad ones at least). Keepaway/zoning is just part of the game; many top SF2ST players like Justin Wong and Alex Valle pretty much play by spamming projectiles, and I wouldn't say these players suck. Projectiles can be somewhat of a nuisance, but without perfect spacing, projectile spammers are easily punished. Realize that a good portion of the roster has projectiles (Ryu, Ken, O.Sagat, Guile, Deejay) and those characters gameplay centers around using those projectiles to their highest potential. IMO if you take away projectile spam, then you take away a large part of ST away.

Also keep in mind there are plenty of things in the game just as annoying as projectile spam: tick throw loops (many with 1 frame of escape opportunity), T.Hawk frame traps, Vega vs Blanka/Honda sitting matches, Zangeif's retarded grab range, jump-in combo meaning certain death, etc. Every character in this game has some brokenness to them; it's not just the projectiles.

I also agree that fighting games online isn't the best, but nowadays if you want online competition you need friends that play competitive or go to tournaments. Sadly, fighting game tournaments are held once a month at best in most communities. Not very many arcades have Super Turbo. Here in Orlando we have one mildly active arcade (plus one on UCF campus that's alright), but Tekken, Marvel, and KoF11 are pretty much your choices for fighters at that arcade.

True but variation is a sign of skill in beat-em ups. Otherwise they become predictable and then IMO quite frustrating. Maybe it's because since the arcade days i've enjoyed playing with my friends by my side who are interested in learning a characters whole move set. There is a big difference between being skilled and using a move over and over again. That gets tedious very quickly. I also happen to think that the pixelated graphics and having your friend by your side made Street Fighter so great. For its time it was mindblowing. Maybe I'm old and bitter but they were good times.
