THQ and Activision settle box art suit

It looks like there won't be a long, drawn-out lawsuit over box art between THQ and Activision, regarding the two publisher's respective off-road Baja games. According to Patent Arcade, Activision has just gone ahead and changed the cover art for its title, SCORE International Baja 1000: The Official Game. We've posted the new look after the break.

Considering the game released a couple of weeks ago, we're not exactly sure how this affects copies already on shelves. Regardless, it appears THQ is appeased and has dismissed its lawsuit.

It looks like an extreme close-up of the first picture. Way to be creative, Activision.

A) It's not just a simple crop-job, although I'm sure it was just thrown together from other unused art assets.

B) Racing games like these (ie off-road racers like ATV Off Road Fury, MX vs. ATV, Motorstorm, etc.) DO sell, especially to the pseudo-casual Wal-mart crowd (stereotype +10!). No, you won't be catching them near the top of any NPD chart, but they obviously sell consistently well enough that they keep being made.

I don't think Konami is as bitchy as to sue for the fact that they both have grayish body suits and a vest. I mean, no one with a brain would confuse the two games because of it (unlike this)

How does this even happen without anyone noticing? I mean, the guy ripping off the other cover art can't honestly be thinking no one's going to find out. Both games are eventually going to be sold side by side and I'm sure someone will notice.

All of you pleople, that was a marketing stunt pulled by publishing companies working together, to bring publicity and attention to this otherwise unkown game. Because of this stunt a lot of people are aware of the existance of this game and some of them might even buy it.
