Some guy put a Nintendo 64 in his Wii
18
Why? NOBODY KNOWS. Maybe he desperately misses the days of blowing in slots. Whatever reasons he had, this is now up on eBay, with bidding starting at $49.99. The auction notes that the mod is "100% working!" (uh ... good?) and that the Wii's blue lights still illuminate when it's switched on, which we have to admit is kind of neat. Also, the seller calls it a "Wii64." Hmm. See more of this peculiar beast past the break, and more illustrious Wii mods here.

I'd probably get more use out of this than I do my actual Wii right now.

Sadly, I didn't mean it as a troll. The last time I started up my Wii was to run Homebrew channel for a few episodes of House I downloaded and my friends wanted to watch. There's just nothing I really want to play that's come out recently. I wouldn't mind a copy of the new Guitar Hero, but the cost is a bit prohibitive and I keep hearing about early instrument failures.
Over at my friend's dorm, they do keep a N64 set up and get a lot more use out of it than I do my Wii with Mario Kart and GoldenEye.

Sure. And my left nut hurts. But why should anyone else care? (Hint: they don't. Keep it to yourself next time.)

I don't care about 99% of the comments left on blogs, that doesn't mean he has to keep it to himself. Let him talk. I understand his point, we just don't have to agree. It sucks that he threw $250+ away if he's not going to use it. Poor choice on his part.
Anyway, cool mod. I'm going to do some research and see if I can figure out how he managed to fit it all in the Wii housing. That was probably pretty tough.

maybe it's just cause i'm a bit anal, but it looks like the little door that slides open for the Game Cube controller slots (and now N64 controllers apparently) doesn't close properly, maybe that's just an issue with the slot on his Wii to begin with, but i'm thinking that the N64 controller slots don't fit properly. Is it just me??

Is it just me or did the Wii just get a graphics upgrade???

I'm dissapointed in this. Why does it come with an expansion slot for the N64DD when they could have just included that one too using the Wii's existing disk slot?

Also, not to mention, just because the guy is putting inferior hardware into the case, doesn't mean the hardware is smaller. He's not making new chips, he's putting the old gear into the Wii case. That means it would be damn near impossible to put a 64 and a DD into that small little case.
Also, DD's are expensive, and very rare. Not only would it drive the cost up on the unit by several hundreds of dollars, but I think there would be a line of angry collectors outside his door ready to stab him with pitchforks for destroying a Nintendo system that had such a small production.

The cart blocks any disks that would go in using the "wii" slot in the front. That and the 50 buck starting bid suggests that its a n64 in a wii shell.
I wouldn't call that a wii mod, even if your title does.
why is the quality of blogging going downhill? Vett or at least think before making claims. Don't worry though its not like journalists are doing any better lately.

Pretty sure you're right. An N64 board is pretty big. I'm also pretty sure the Wii hardware is already packed inside the tiny case. It's just a cosmetic update.
Boo.

From the auction (a truncated version, but you get the picture):
"It is a Wii case that has been modified to fit a n64 inside, and function perfectly well! There is a power on switch that was a xbox 360 left trigger, that was modified to be a switch! there is no reset button, but that is not even needed anyways. the wii case is in great condition itself, and has many holes made for wither a port, game slot, or ports! the power adapter goes directly into the back where there has been a port installed specially for it. then the TV cables go a an angle on the side shown in the picture."
Sounds like it's been MODIFIED a fair bit to me. Hence, I'm sticking with mod.

Huh... I can't believe it! Just yesterday I had the thought:
"My my, electronics have gotten so much smaller. I don't think I could even fit my N64 inside the Wii case and still have a working console..."
Shows what I know.
