Criterion teases next Burnout Paradise DLC pack
That's right, the next one. As in the one after the flying cars, the toy cars and the not-actually-cars. Criterion just keeps on stuffing more content into its open-world racer, with the latest vehicular addition taking the form of the Carson Extreme Hotrod, a "stripped down, ultra low, overpowered straight line monster." You'll find it, along with another impossibly fast hunk of metal, in 2009's "Paradise Boost Specials Pack."
According to the developers, both vrooooooms are designed to "re-imagine Burnout Boost." And we doubt they're imagining it any slower. Here we come, walls!

I wish more developers would support their games like Criterion supports Burnout Paradise.
Lars @ Nov 21st 2008 1:44PM
Where's the planes patch?! They brought us bikes which I'm grateful for but not nearly as excited about as the planes they promised!
Tez @ Nov 21st 2008 1:48PM
They never promised planes. They were thinking about doing it and toyed around with it, but decided not to do it.
Brian @ Nov 21st 2008 1:50PM
Do you really think they would make a planes dlc?
Come on now, Use common sense.
Wiinterfang @ Nov 21st 2008 2:02PM
SCREW common sense!! I want some motherfucking planes in my motherfucking game.
Lars @ Nov 22nd 2008 3:18PM
I am using common sense. They said they would be bringing planes to Burnout after bikes, and both would be free. So, why is it not common sense to wonder what happened there? Maybe they never explicitly said "we PROMISE to bring planes..." but they did say it was coming.

I wish companies would release this much dlc for games i actually care about.
RC @ Nov 21st 2008 1:51PM
What a great game. Really this is one of the best games this generation and it keeps getting better with all the updates.
343 Guilty Fart @ Nov 21st 2008 1:52PM
Still waiting on the SmartCars DLC.
Biff_McFresh @ Nov 21st 2008 1:52PM
I want car armor
Chad @ Nov 21st 2008 1:53PM
Price for all this stuff?
offday @ Nov 21st 2008 1:58PM
Why couldn't they had released all this DLC for one of the good burnout games, like Takedown. Paradise is the worst of them all.
Tiptup300 @ Nov 21st 2008 2:31PM
Yeah, I also didn't really like the direction they chose. I'm not saying I think it's a bad game, I just don't like how they changed the series.
John Z @ Nov 21st 2008 2:05PM
My first thought on seeing that pic was: "Holy crap, they managed to top the DeLorean: THEY GOT THE ELIMINATOR!" Then I realized it wasn't... but still.
Criterion. Eliminator. Make it happen.
Rhamsey @ Nov 21st 2008 2:18PM
this and mario kart 64 are the only "racing" games i like. and if it wasnt for their awesome support of this game, i dont think i would have enjoyed it as much. well done criterion, well done.
Brandon @ Nov 21st 2008 2:35PM
I would pay upwards of $20 for a traditional crash party mode ala Burnout 3.
lucanos @ Nov 21st 2008 3:40PM
Seriously!? Is criterion ever going to release a crash mode for this game? I really cant believe they took that mode out. It was my favorite thing about the past installations.
Jack @ Nov 21st 2008 4:23PM
I loved the Burnout series up until Takedown. I had been looking forward to Paradise but demo kinda rubbed the wrong way. I was so much into the open world.
But now I feel SO bad. Criterion has put the best philosophy forward regarding DLC. Its got class and quality. I want to so badly buy their game just for the sake of giving them money.
*sigh* I don't know what to do. Maybe I'll just make a donation...
Jack @ Nov 21st 2008 4:24PM
*wasn't* so much into the open world.
lucanos @ Nov 21st 2008 4:32PM
I agree. Something that I did a lot in the past games was start my race over and over mid race until I got it right. Now if I mess up or wreck I have to drive all the way back to the beginning of the race. Its a major KillJoy!!!!
ToRo @ Nov 22nd 2008 12:47AM
When are they adding the retry option? I heard on giantbomb that they were gonna add it to attract for people. Anyone now when?
Deone @ Feb 6th 2009 11:22PM
Granted, I haven't played any of the other Burnout games nearly as much as I've played this one, and in fact, this is the first one I've ever actually owned. I wish they would have the old crash mode myself, and can't believe they haven't yet, but my guess is that they will eventually.
As far as the retry option goes, WTF happened? They even said they were going to add it on the "Criterion Games News" that pops up when you boot up the game. I had to try the UberScholl Burning Route somewhere around 422,168 times before I made it to the damn ranch. Of course I can't drive, but still driving back to the city every time sucked.
