Far Cry 2 'Fortune's Pack' adds new vehicles, weapons, maps

Also added to both the single- and multiplayer components are three new weapons: the sawed-off shotgun; the silenced shotgun; and the crossbow. Be sure to use those on Fortune's four additional multiplayer maps, dubbed Cheap Labor, Last Resort, Lake Smear and Fort Fury.
The pack will be available on Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Store for $10 -- or two of the diamonds you found in a suspicious briefcase in the middle of nowhere.

Maybe instead of unloading downloadable content, they could make sure the game runs well as-is. My save file screwed up after 26 hours of play. 68 percent through, all diamond suitcases collected. All lost. Thanks a lot ubisoft.

I agree. They also need to fix up multiplayer. There are no dedicated servers, so after every match you get sent back to the title screen. It's ridiculous. Also, no one can join the game during a match so if a bunch of people drop out, you are stuck playing 2 v 3 or something like that.

Silenced shotgun has got to be some kinda oxymoron. I ask for shotguns to do 2 things: Be excessively loud and explode zombie heads.

I am loving Far Cry 2, so this sounds awesome. Hopefully it'll be integrated well into the singleplayer. I agree with NaeemTHM's mention of Silenced Shotgun being an oxymoron, it certainly sounds interesting!

DLC? Yeah I think more than enough FC2 owners are still pissed we have crappy weapon damage issues along with saves being dropped and online being a pain... So much to go on about this game that it's a pretty looking embarrassment to UbiSoft as a game developer.
I WANT MY UPDATE FIX!!!!! I can deal without a lot but one thing I can't stand is shooting a 25% of my clip into these tank top or nude computer A.I.s!!!! Don't get me started on the insanely retarded unrealistic re-spawning check points!

If it is still going to take 30 rounds to kill somebody, then I will definitely pass on this. When they update the game, so you can kill somebody with a couple of rounds to the chest then I will think about it.

These DLC 'add-ons' are getting old. Seriously, just develop a good game. Don't remove items and then act like you're doing us a favor by selling them back to us.
And don't say that these items weren't developed at the same time the game was - heck, has it even been 30 days since launch?

How can you be sure they were removed? Did you play it and see a quad-shaped cutout in the world? I'm not saying companies don't do that, but I think you're being unfairly cynical. I haven't seen anyone complain about Far Cry 2 lacking any of the things they're adding.

noone says you have to buy it, and if you feel it those exact items (maps, guns) should have been in the game in the first place, why did you buy the game? they had all the games' content (except story) listed on their website.

@Ludwig – You could be correct, maybe it wasn't intentionally pulled out of the completed original. But, maybe it just wasn't added so that they could charge for it 30 days later. The latter isn't much better than the former in my opinion.
Remember when a game was developed and released to be all that it could be? I get the feeling that we are entering a new era in which a game is sold with 80% of the possible content and we’re re-sold the remaining 20% (which was developed at the same time as the game). Does this sit well with you?
This content isn't an addition to the game, extending replay value 8 months down the road. This is content right after launch! I don't like it and I don't like what it says about where the game industry is going.
@ganrob - The 'you didn't have to buy it' argument is terrible. We are arguing whether it is good or bad that this content launched now, whether it was pulled from the game, etc - not whether someone should have bought it and therefore has no right to complain...

Maybe instead of making DLC, they could, ooooh I dunno... FIX THE GAME. I was luckier than most, I at least made it past the mystical 68% complete barrier on the xbox, but I'm plagued by corrupt save files just like everyone else.
Far Cry 2 is broken. DLC for a game that's broken is a waste of time and money.

did no one else care to make backups of your gamesaves? instead of complaining about "broken" games and how wrong it is for the developers to make a bit more money; how about you all go and get a memory card, flash drive etc. and back your saves up. then this problem wont happen, and when it does you can say wow it was really smart of me to go get a memory card now i don't have to sit on a news page and complaining about my save being corrupted.
To all of you that are complaining about having to buy this extra content. No one is making you do it, if you don't want to spend the extra $10 or so for new stuff then don't. It is really sorry to see people complaining about the Devs trying to make some extra cash; if you were in their position you would to the same. I think they picked the perfect time, as far as in game development and in console and PC generations to do this. I do agree with the fast that they released this a little too soon but who know maybe there is a lot more stuff yet to be added; at least that's what i am hoping for. A helicopter would be nice, or maybe a in game camera u can get to take screenshots that save to your hard drive. that would be pretty sweet. or maybe they should go a bit farther with the game and make it so you can buy performance parts for the vehicles, and new types of ammo. mmmmm explosive and armor piercing rounds sound like fun.
anyways that is my two cents on the subject. So stop complaining about corrupted saves, the developers know about it trust me and they are working to fix the problem. Get a memory card and make multiple saves as often as possible and dont over write the previous save make new ones as often as possible to if you miss out on something you can go back and get it. and as far as the fact that the developers charing for extra content; get over it be happy that they are even making extra content and that most people buy without complaining like this. I don't like having to pay for the extra content any more than you do but if me buying content keeps a game supported and keeps the updates and new stuff comming i am all for it. its only $10

That's quite a rant there. bit tl;dr.
The game is still broken, and your solution is to ... go spend more money. Ok. That sounds like a good idea. I'll just go drop some money on an xbox memory card to backup save files that shouldn't be corrupted in the first place. Saving multiple times is fine, that works even if it is a bit inconvenient. But the save files are corrupted almost immediately. There is no opportunity to back them up. I have saved and then immediately loaded that save file to find it corrupted. How does backing up corrupt save files help at all.
And I never said I had to buy the content, or that UbiSoft was making anyone buy the content.
Sure, UbiSoft is fixing the problem. Doesn't mean we can't complain that they shipped a broken game. That doesn't mean we can't tell them we're upset.

@Professor Lario, Far Cry 2 is a massive game, and bets are that they might have taken them out from the original game due to a lack or disc space, remember they're working with alot less space than something like the PS3, so they release the rest as DLC, but they have to charge you because microsoft is charging them for having DLC

Well Ive got it on PS3, never had a corrupt file even though Ive completed the game once and am now working on getting all the diamonds. Whoever complains about the game getting stuck at 27% and 68% thats just because you havent completed the criteria to carry on in the game.

I know I sound like a dumbass and I'm fairly new to this but I have fc2 on ps3 and although multiplayer is great fun, I can't play on it for very long before it boots me off and I start again! At around 4 and I'm starting to get into it.
