First screens of GTA IV: The Lost and Damned DLC
Following yesterday's news in USA Today, Rockstar has officially announced the first of two DLC episodes for the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV, titled "The Lost and Damned." The first high-res screens of the episode are out, along with a bare minimum of new details.
In addition to what yesterday's report contained – that players will control a new lead character, Johnny Klebitz, a biker with Liberty City motorcycle club The Lost – today's announcement confirms that the episode will contain "new missions that offer an entirely fresh way to explore Liberty City," along with new vehicles, weapons, multiplayer modes, and music.
The episode arrives via Xbox Live Marketplace on Feb. 17, and (obviously) requires the original GTA IV to play. We've been wondering if a Gold account will be required as well, but Rockstar's announcement merely mentions an Xbox Live account as a prerequisite for download. So ... let's hear your theories on the plot.

You're not seeing the font shift?
Titanium_Orchid @ Nov 21st 2008 10:19PM
oh, I thought that was to indicate a quote from some PR jigger.
I agree though, it could have been implemented better.

The font what now?
Ghen @ Nov 22nd 2008 7:06AM
No clue bananaboat.

sorry, yall' came to late and missed the free cake and stripper giveaway
Jomolungma @ Nov 21st 2008 10:13PM
So I guess you ride motorcycles alot? Upgrades to bike-to-bike combat? Drag races? It would be interesting if they went really hard-core biker culture, like the Mongols or Hell's Angels. I'd say my interest is piqued.
Markez @ Nov 21st 2008 10:16PM
If they could somehow find a way to get Roman into skitchin' I'd really be on board, a la the old classic Genesis game.
Ghen @ Nov 21st 2008 11:52PM
zombie bikers from hell wielding guitars as weapons with a monkey growing out of their shoulder throwing feces.
My guess.
offday @ Nov 22nd 2008 1:53AM
Remember that mission where you had to kill that girl's biker boyfriend, and his friends show up and try to kill you in the park? I wonder if they are connected to them.
Markez @ Nov 21st 2008 10:13PM
New character named Johnny Klebitz? Uhm, ok, I guess. I don't quite follow how this could provide a whole new "fresh" way to explore the city, as they put it.
Here's hoping the new vehicles are more than just re-skinned versions of existing ones...
Temple @ Nov 21st 2008 10:47PM
I thought the rumor said the DLC was going to have an entirely new city to explore (or at least a new area) instead of the same Liberty City with bikers.
I agree, its going to be the same damn thing again. Drag races, fetch quests, kill x, do y, and more mundane things we already did in GTA.
anonim1979 @ Nov 21st 2008 10:14PM
This DLC...
Too late.
And probably too short.
Chris Are @ Nov 22nd 2008 12:48AM
I don't know, I'm a little bummed it's only available on 360. (I believe I heard the DLC is only for 360...)
offday @ Nov 22nd 2008 1:55AM
I agree with the too late statement. I went from totally pumped about this DLC to not giving a crap and trading in my copy of GTAIV. I had beaten it awhile ago, and it was just collecting dust. The multiplayer was crap IMO. GTA shouldn't have it at all.
Haggard @ Nov 22nd 2008 10:52AM
It'd make more sense for them to release it on the PC version which is out later this month as well.
I mean, how are you going to sell the PC version to people on one hand while simultaneously offering bonus content only to 360 players..
FSK405K @ Nov 21st 2008 10:14PM
A new perspective...you mean other than from walking, or in a car, or on a bike, or on a helicoptor, or through your crosshairs? This will be....from the sewers?
Markez @ Nov 21st 2008 10:17PM
So I gathered them up, in an old coffee can

tmacairjordan87 @ Nov 21st 2008 10:20PM
I'll hold off until I get news on something fun being in the DLC. I'm not gonna pay to hear more story and see more cutscenes in a sandbox game, then get tossed into chase missions with a bike.
Kspraydad @ Nov 21st 2008 10:22PM
Still yellow I see.
SavageGrampa @ Nov 21st 2008 10:37PM
Could be interesting...

2-8 player co-op throughout DLC story missions
ducttapeBigSexy @ Nov 21st 2008 11:25PM
IMO, GTA IV removed all the fun side activities from San Andreas in favor of making the game more realistic. So, here's some side activities Rockstar should include in the DLC to make it even more realistic - and therefore fun!
- Waiting in the dentist office
- Getting your oil changed
- Driving your grandma to the hair salon
- Sitting in a cubical for 8 hours every day
... okay, I'm done complaining :P...
James @ Nov 22nd 2008 1:04AM
100% agree, GTA IV was the final thing that pushed me over the edge in finally buying a next gen console (got the PS3) and man I can't believe how much I hated it.
I loved 3, VC, and SA. Although I never got into the story of them much (how could you) I didn't care because the game was so damn fun and wonky at times.
Part of the problem I think with IV was just it was far too wannabe gritty, all the missions were really cookie cutter crap. Really repetitive.. go here kill this guy, face a gang/escape cops, rinse repeat.
Not to mention horrid ones like the one where you help that Italian take out the Russians. You start out at this warehouse or whatever, drive to the truck, drive the slow ass truck all around town, then get there and the AI is absolutely retarded for him and he goes and gets himself killed 3-4 times before I finally manage to do it before he goes rambo.
Plus they removed all the depth features like planes, car customizing, robbing stores/houses in SA, buying safe houses.. etc. I've always felt the depth and extras that the game pushes out after is what separated itself from all the clones.. and they ruined all that in the name of realism and grityness.
Also I hated driving around in GTA IV, not only were the car controls awful but it sucked going around such a highly populated shithole all the time, it made it impossible to really just speed by alot.
ducttapeBigSexy @ Nov 22nd 2008 10:56AM
@James
You sound exactly like me - GTA IV was the reason I picked up a PS3 too (I have a nice gaming rig, but I didn't want to wait for the PC port). I forced myself to beat GTA IV, but I haven't even put it back in to get the trophy patch...
The one thing I've taken away from GTA IV though - game reviewers don't have a clue what they're talking about. On Game Rankings, right now SA for PS3 is at a 95.2% - GTA IV for PS3 is at 97.4%. Subtract about 15% from GTA IV's and it'll be about right.
Chin-Poh @ Nov 21st 2008 11:30PM
Took 10 months for this damn DLC to finally come out and I assume most have beaten the game and have moved onto the many other SHITLOAD of games that have and will come out before this DLC hits, I know I have. I'm still on Fallout 3, plan to play Far Cry 2, Project Origin, Mirrors Edge, Dead Space, etc. First gotta get over this damn semester. : )
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread - XBL: SoCoolCurt) @ Nov 22nd 2008 12:51AM
im feeling the same way. GTA IV is an after thought for me at the moment. its been month's since i played it. i have a stack of games that im currently playing and then a shelf for games im done with, and GTA IV found it's place on the shelf month's ago.
honestly looking back at it, it just didnt have the same appeal as previous iterations. i applauded it for being so realistic at first, but now i see that that sucked alot of the fun out of it because it was less over the top.
i have it on PS3 but i was gonna buy the 360 version if the DLC seemed worth it but they would have to do something more than skin more story and cars for me to buy in at this point.

Killa Korn Bread -
Says you haven't logged into the PSN in 2 months. What's up?
aristokrat @ Nov 21st 2008 11:55PM
Squad-based combat?
Gavin @ Nov 22nd 2008 1:05PM
that would be my guess.
Or at least getting followed by a gang / growing a gang of followers. (you are a biker after all)
Also, because you are part of a group, I'd imagine turf / hood control will also return from GTA:SA
Noxat @ Nov 22nd 2008 12:03AM
Well it sounds pretty good, although I hope it makes some changes to the game that are felt beyond just some new missions. New activities, or maybe something for Niko to spend all that money made during the main game, like properties or something.
FSK405K @ Nov 22nd 2008 6:41AM
Didn't you hear? Now you can buy any building in the city and marry anyone you want, of either gender. There might be a dog.
aaronx_x @ Nov 22nd 2008 12:13AM
no new city ei..
The Dark Wayne @ Nov 22nd 2008 12:44AM
too bad bikes fraking suck in GTA IV
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread - XBL: SoCoolCurt) @ Nov 22nd 2008 12:52AM
agreed. bikes used to my vehicle of choice (i miss the old PCJ...) but they were not fun or practical in this one. they just didnt handle as well.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Nov 22nd 2008 2:47AM
I miss the PCJ and the NRG. Maybe GTA IV was trying to be too real or something, but the bikes were nowhere near as fun.
I used to ride the PCJ everywhere. On the streets, sidewalks, through the parks, on the train tracks, up and down steps. It was almost never necessary to get off it (since your character couldn't climb ladders anyway). It made it much quicker to get around. That's all gone.
As someone above mentioned, you can't get any speed up on this game. The world is too dense. Part of it is a change in the world, and part of it is playing Burnout:Paradise, where the streets are 3x wider and the blocks 3x longer. After that, GTA feels cramped, IV incredibly so.
FSK405K @ Nov 22nd 2008 6:43AM
Liberty City is cramped because NYC is cramped. I doubt I could get over 60mph on the city streets there with any regularity.
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Nov 22nd 2008 1:18AM
Man, so many people complaining about GTAIV being a disappointment: I'm expecting it on the PC but now you guys are making me doubt!
Chin-Poh @ Nov 22nd 2008 1:29AM
I'm sorry to say it was a disappointment for me, I was extremely hyped for this game but it just didn't live up to my expectations, its still a good game don't get me wrong. This is what made me buy a PS3 for it and after the fucking game broke the PS3, I got a 360 and the 360 copy of it.
Just not as good as San Andreas, they put some nice things in but also took things out and the story was disappointing. For instance the "morality" parts of the game really make little to no impact.
On the PC, I hope it gets the exclusive DLC since its a Games for Windows LIVE title by Microsoft and even if not, there'll be a TON of mods for it, loads of extras character skins and vehicles for starters like the PC versions of the other GTA games.
Markez @ Nov 22nd 2008 3:28AM
Nah, I'd still say go out and grab it. It is a good game, but I think you'll know how we feel after you rip through it. I think it's moreso a matter of realizing the game it 'could' have been.
Personally, for all the people that hate Cliffy B for whatever reason, I think Dennis Houser from Rockstar is 10 times the douchebag. Yes, that's quite a tangent.
tmacairjordan87 @ Nov 22nd 2008 10:19AM
It is a good game but if you're a fan of all the cool shit that was in san andreas you're going to be disappointed with GTA 4 as well.
Lee @ Nov 22nd 2008 12:20PM
GTA IV is rubbish yes. I'm sorry to say. Thankfully I have the collection on Steam and the Stories games on PSP. IMO IV marked the decline, what with this lacklustre sounding DLC, terrible original game and what looks to be a rubbish DS game too (btw the DS is my handheld of choice, just sayin), and that with 4 out now we probably won't see a SA stories.
SyChO @ Nov 22nd 2008 1:34AM
Vice City and S.A were the bomb!
This was good, but like most people have said... repetitive! Dahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Plus the multiplayer was horribleeeeeeeeeee!!!
mr bean @ Nov 22nd 2008 1:41AM
Sounds neat, but needs a few improvements. First off have a mission that includes a gang banger group of toothless old hairy-legged bag ladies that finally curb stomp Brucie for talkin' everybody's frikken ears off. Next have zombie bikers take on the tree huggers and the boat people in Central Park. Finally, get rid of that same boring old bridge ya gotta cross everytime you go anywhere-ride barges-anything!
ThePhoenixLament @ Nov 22nd 2008 1:58AM
It's just simply amazing how you guys are NOW all "dissappointed" and shit.
Fuck I was telling you guys that this game was overhyped and not going to be that great months ago. Not to mention the review scores were completely ridiculous. Especially the one from IGN.
I'm not saying the game is complete fail but it really isn't all that groundbreaking and it did not deserve a perfect 10.
Oh well DLC is always a good thing so I may check it out when it drops.
After all it is a 360 exclusive!
