"Oh well DLC is always a good thing so I may check it out when it drops. After all it is a 360 exclusive!"

Stop acting sub-human.

Three words. Well, two words and a number. Full Throttle 3, in the GTA 4 engine.

I skipped GTAIV and went straight for Saints Row 2. It's got way-more-substantial content - character and car customization, sweeter guns and weapons [hello katana and sledgehammer]. That game keeps finding its way back into my PS3 every other day.

I'm still unlocking things even though I've completed the story mode [along w/that not-so secret Julius mission]. It'd be nice to have some DLC for that one *hint, hint*.

I find it weird that people call this game repetitive and saying how awesome San Andreas is.

I remember people saying the same thing about San Andreas, that is was repetitive and saying they like Vice City better, but there was even less to do in that game! What makes one game where you can drive bikes, fly airplanes, customize you car and put nitros in there, have missions where you jump out of a plane and parachute somewhere repetitive, while another game where all you can do is run around shoot not?

Sorry for the rant, but sometimes I just don't understand people.

Yea difference being that SA had much more varied environments and it was more fun to just use vehicles. I don't mind if something is repetative so long as its FUN.

Sure the mission structures are all the same but the earlier GTA's just had a more fun engine. No flying out of fucking car windows and bikes were still enjoyable and useful.
personally I was hoping that GTA IV would have upstate NY bits where we could hop on a freeway and have some SA style kicks.

its funny seeing all so many of you go "oh the dlc is too late" or whatever, but if it came out sooner everyone would just be "boo just put it in the fricken game"...it seems like its just really hard to win when it comes to dlc

I think most people respond negatively to GTA4 because it has no real sense of choice. For all the detail in the game, missions are essentially pathed, combat isn;t deep, and (aside from best friend level perks) the player doesn't get new ways to tackle the games challenges as they progress.

Take the bank heist for example. I think it would be more enjoyable if I could have planned my route, my team ('s specialties... say like a get away driver), maybe even having optional side missions to bribe guards or set diversions to distract the police during the heist.

I don't blame R* for having the direct scripted path (that means anyone can casually play through the mission without getting lost), but I would have liked 'advanced options' too

As someone who hasn't traded in his copy of GTA IV, loved GTA 3, VC, SA, and GTA IV, I'm psyched. I've been waiting for an excuse to put GTA IV back in the 360.

As for those saying GTA IV was too repetitive - ever play the other GTA games? It was perhaps less goofy but had all of the standard side missions and things to explore. I don't see any significant difference between it and the others, though I would agree that SA, overall, had the most cool gameplay mechanics (turf wars, businesses, dual-wield weapons, etc....and the best soundtrack).

I'm looking for zombie survival based DLC for GTA IV... how cool would that be with an entire city as your playground?

So I guess now haiting GTAIV when months ago everyone was having fun with it, is the cool thing to do.

Sigh. Well I'll definitely be popping in my disc when this DLC comes in.

Sorry, pal, I was having fun with it months ago and ended up somewhat disappointed. Has nothing to do with it 'being cool' now. The side missions were a complete bore, and the game, while good, just lacked some of the heart and soul that made the previous iterations fun and enjoyable for me. The mission structure was horribly repetitive. Did you ever play Simpsons Hit and Run? I loved that game, yet GTAIV was essentially the same thing with pretty graphics.

That said, I'll definitely be throwing in the game again to play the DLC. Unfortunately, as is the case with the ME DLC, I really really really wish it would've been released closer to the initial game's release. Would've made playing through it much more enjoyable...

This is a whole 'nother topic entirely, but there is no way in hell the game deserved the reviews it got, in my opinion.

I actually just finished the game last week. I bought it when it came out, played about 20 hours, too a break and just put in another 15 hours (yes, I missed the 30 hour achievement). The game was both highly entertaining (at times) and highly frustrating (at times). The game was definitely not a 10 out of 10. Over-rated for sure. I'd give it a 9, which is still a good score.

Where did it suffer. It was too long for starters. I'm guessing most people here didn't finish it. Also, I HATED having to do missions over. Sometimes having to drive to a location for the umpteenth time was just stupid. Just start me where the action is. Don't make me drive across town AGAIN!

Combat was decent, story was good (although it could have been shorter). The world as a whole though was impressive. It was quite a feat what they did in creating Liberty City. Do I want to go back and do this expansion back. No.

You meet the guy, Johnny in the game, but you never really care about him. I don't feel like caring about him. It was a feat just to finish the main game. I am done. If it was more on Nico and his story, maybe. But not some random biker dude.

the issue with this game is tht the reviews were way too high for a game which looked pritty yet removed almost all of the good new features of the previous game :/

Great, the 4 people in the world who "truely hate" GTA4 have, posted here. I am honored to see such greatness typed in the form of "blah blah blah".

Worthless cynics, that couldn't set the time on a new microwave always have the most to say.

Although I did expect the DLC to have been released by now, I'm still excited about the new episodes. I also prefer the concept of a new character to play through.

Overall, I think R* succeeded with GTA IV--given the kind of game they were trying to make. Many of you have commented to voice your disappointment with the game, and the majority of what I'm reading boils down to GTA IV not being what San Andreas was.

I agree that IV is not San Andreas, but I don't think the comparison is fair to either IV or SA. Yes, they're both GTA titles, but I think that's as far as the comparison goes. From reading the early IV previews and interviews with the Housers, it was no surprise to me that IV would be going in a new direction. Being a reasonable person, I took that information and adjusted my expectations accordingly. Did many of you expect IV to be like SA even though the Housers said from the beginning that it would not?

It's understandable that fans of SA type of GTA would be largely disappointed with IV, but I personally appreciated the change. I guess it did limit the scope of the story missions to try to adhere to a more realistic storyline, but I think R* largely accomplished with IV what they set out to do. I didn't always get sucked into the story, but when Roman died and Niko was left alone in the city save for Brucie and others, I felt pretty damn bad. I even caught myself missing Roman's incessant phone calls...for a little while at least. :-) I call that success.

I love the new physics engine, especially the feel of driving. I'm also a detail freak, and IV has given me lots of things to explore. I find hidden jokes and surprises within the city all the time. Have many of you searched out the hilarious websites on the game?

You know, I'd be really interested to know if there's a meaningful pattern in the ages of those who hated the game as opposed to those who enjoyed it...
