Now I am entranced by the idea of slowly collecting an enitre Big Daddy outfit for my avatar as I play through Bioshock.

I would also like to be able to carry over my current character outfit from games like Fallout 3 and Fable 2 over to my avatar. Powered armor and powdered wig ftw!

This was the idea originally cast with Home. Achievements would unlock stuff for your avatar to wear or for you to put in your apartment. Don't know if they are still doing that or not...

Man, I just want to be able to wear Jnco's and my silk Dungeons and Dragons shirt. If only the virtual world were as cool as me in reality.

Wow, do they still make Jnco Jeans??? I haven't heard of that brand since I was in high school in the late 90's, lol. Ugly as sin those things were, I never understood why people wore them.

Nothing like a pair of pants where the bottom part is bigger than the waist. They were like wearing two jean skirts with a crotch in the middle.

This is a good idea. If you can't find SOMETHING to "wear" in 12 updates, you're probably too trendy to be making online avatars.

And if you're that trendy, you can be among the fools paying for the popped-collar and 80's logo shirts.

The only thing on this Earth I want is a top hat. I wear a top hat in reality, and I am startled by the fact there's a monocle yet no top hat. It breaks my heart.

I wonder if they will give us more Face options? Right now, I see several Avatars who look very much alike, where on the Wii, this wasn't as big a problem (due to positioning of the features).

One of the new premium themes, the Ninja Blade one, apparantly comes with some new clothing options, but it's only available in Japan.

But it's nice to see some of the clothing will be free. I have no problem with having to pay for new clothes (I probably won't bother buying much, if anything anyway) but the options we have right now are just a little too limited.

Am I the only one who doesn't give a rats ass about avatars and won't waste a second trying to customize it?

Well, at least you're the only one who gives a rats ass about avatars, won't spend a second trying to customize it, yet seem to care enough to state that in a thread about customizing your avatar.

Well, at the very least you're the only one who doesn't want to waste any time customizing an avatar but doesn't mind wasting time posting about how you don't want to waste any time customizing an avatar.

@Miguel
It's people like me and you who are gonna bring these trendy people down onto their knees. Bring back normal Gamercards- I'm afraid of change.
Last time I changed my jeans in reality I got a massive tear down the side of it. Realistic clothes ripping FTW!!!

Although partially irrelevant, I'm really mourning the loss of my old Dashboard. Never before had I felt as technologically inept as when I had to fumble around for ten minutes in order to get to My Xbox. Uck. Makes me feel like I cheated my way to my GamerScore.

And by god, why is it that the male avatars have two and a half pages worth of shoes to pick from, while the female ones get six pairs of shoes in total? Do the people working on this new Xbox crap realize how paradoxical that is? And none of the flats match my avatar’s incredibly sexy vest and camo pants combo, so it has to wear those crappy cork wedges which I’d never way in reality and don’t look good on an already tall girl, especially a lanky and ridiculously pale one (being that cork wedges tend to look better with more tropical things)! *pouts* I second the notion of sandals and/or bare feet being available, because most people I know game in their pajamas, anyway. And if you fellas want bigger boobs, then I require that male avatars have an assortment of codpieces to choose from.

That is all.

Of course they will be monetizing this, I beleive that was the point. Probably gamer pics were not making enough money, so they were thinking... How else can we monetize the dashboard? I can see it now that they will have game characters as avatars etc...

Still think MS missed an opportunity with Avatars. There should have been game related Avatars which automatically update your Avatar as you're playing a game. So, when you look at your friends line up and one of them is playing Gears for example, the Avatar is dressed like Marcus, rather than just having them dressed in the regular clothes and a boring game box image at their feet. A much more interactive and visually interesting friends line up.

Of course they could easily add a check box if you wanted to opt out of your Avatar changing based on the game you're playing.
