Final Fantasy XI invades Dissidia

Who would have thought that Dissidia news could appear in a place like Final Fantasy XI's "Vana Fes 2008 in Korakuen" from this past Saturday? Well, not us, that's for sure. We were pretty content with the fact that only the first ten titles would have representatives, though this entry seems to have broken that rule. Shantotto, a Tarutaru black mage and NPC, is -- thus far -- the only character from the MMO-RPG to make an appearance.

Currently, it's unknown whether Shantotto will be playable or just making a cameo in some non-fighting parts of the game. Could this also mean that FFXII and FFXIII could also still secretly make its way into the game? It's a rather exciting thought, is it not?

would be cool to get the main characters from versus 13 and ff13

don't care about ff12, but yeah, ff13 would be crazy cool! also would promote the following game, but i highly doubt they'll include any of them.

I've been under the impression that FFXI was a bastard child to be ignored by the rest of Square Enix.

As it looks Shantotto will be a playable character.

we'll wait and hope for more secrets characters.

I see FFXII as a possibility, but not XIII. One of the big ideas behind Dissidia is to give some more development and history to the already established Final Fantasy character roster, but XIII isn't even out yet. I don't think Square-Enix would expose their latest heroine like that before her game even comes out. As far as promoting it is concerned, it already has a steep following, and I'd wager, more people know about XIII than Dissidia.

Well i know it haven't come out yet but square-enix knows that we already love those character even we only have seen just a few cut scenes of them,it havent come out and it dosent needs promotion bcause ppl knows more about XIII more than dissidia.but hey look at Soul Calibur IV there was The apprentice and im pretty sure star wars unleashed havent come out and didnt needed a promotion either!

I want Lighting in it bcause shes a girl:dissidia needs girls,well Normal girls like Terra.and i want Noctis in it bcause hes really awesome.

FFXII might be a possibility but XIII nope, but probably a secret trailer, after you beaten the game.

Maybe shes going to be like a summon

As a former FFXI player, I'm glad they didn't forsake that game, it IS a numbered FF despite how many people didn't want it to be. I wish they had someone more interesting like Lion but Shantotto is cool enough. I wonder if they're going to bring in a villain as well?

I wonder who else is going to show up as well. They're suppose to be 1hero and 1villain from the numbered games PLUS secrets. Maybe Aya?

Probably something lame like The Shadow Lord. Shantotto's an interesting choice, though, I must admit.

Damn... if they're gonna put some secret characters in... gimme Tifa, gimme gunslinger Yuna, gimme Chocobo!! That weird little thing doesn't cut it for me (Yeah, I didn't play FFXI)

This means that we MIGHT see characters like Zack, Yuna and Locke making an appearance too...ooh, and Shadow, he was kewl...

As a current FFXI player, ( {Tarutaru} {power}) I am very excited to see that Shantotto is going to be in Dissidia. Hopefully, there will be a relevant villain, too.

i think shantotto is really small
and it was a big mmistake of squenix to make an online game a numbered version of the final fantasy series.

I don't u just love it when ppl state their personal opinions as if they were universally accepted fact? Especially when they have never even played the game,
6 years after release, FFXI still has a very strong community (myself among them) & it does feel like a FF# game. look forward to seeing Shantotto in action in Dissidia and the upcoming FFXI expansion, Shantotto Ascension. All Hail Empress Shantotto

I think shantotto opposing villlain is Eald'narche. I dont think is shadow lord because shadow lord is bigger.
