New games this week: Chrono Trigger edition

Yeah, we know, it's a totally retro headline that could just as easily have been written a decade or so ago, but Chrono Trigger on the DS really is the most exciting release this week. And you know what that means, right? You did it! You made it through the worst of the torrential releases of Holiday '08! We're so damn proud of you we could burst.

What's left to fear? Prince of Persia next week? Heck, you could do a Prince of Persia week in your sleep by this point. No, you did it, you made it through. We like to think you may have even learned a couple of things about yourself along the way.

So they saved the best for last??

Chrono Trigger and Prince of Persia.... oooooh yessss.

Being from the UK I, sadly, missed out on the 90's sensation that was Chrono Trigger. I played it for the first time 2 years ago at the tender age of 24 and it's been an obsession ever since.

Partway through my second playthrough of the rom via emulation I was made aware of the PSone port and promptly imported myself a copy. Only to find it marred by lengthy load times and some rather jerky battle animations. After ripping it to a firmware enhanced psp I was sure I'd found the ultimate way to play the game; All the joys of the Toriyama animation, with none of the joyless thumb twiddling.

If this turns out to be yet another evolution for the title I'll pick it up without hesitation.

so many games to play...and family is coming over for turkey day and will use the tv more than they already do :(...i really need to get hired somewhere to get one for myself lol :(
