PETA intends on creating more games to raise awareness about practices within the meat industry. The organization states that its recent Cooking Mama game wasn't an attack on publisher Majesco, but a way of getting its "Meet your Meat" video -- an unsettling "undercover video" of a corporate turkey farm -- in front of fresh eyes.
Speaking with GI.biz, a PETA spokesperson said the organization uses games to raise awareness in people who "may be turned off by more direct appeals." It originally turned to games to attract young males, but has since learned the demographics are much wider. The group believes Majesco took the parody in the way it was intended, which seems like a reasonable assumption considering the publisher's lighthearted response. Despite all the joking, PETA does hope that Majesco makes a Cooking Mama: Vegetarian Kitchen "one day."

Where peta fails is that for me- and I imagine a significant portion of the public that loves to eat delicious and succulent meats- there is an extreme disconnect between the delicious food on my plate and the cute mooing or obnoxious clucking critters that it once was. I like it that way. While turkey farms and chicken mills are no doubt oftentimes the avian equivalent of the Holocaust, life's a bitch. Even though I encourage niceties to all creatures great and small and being inhumane isn't cool, when I sit down to my steak I still feel as much guilt as the lion does as it rips the entrails out of a living, breathing wildebeast as its children look on in horror. Mmmm... steak.

That's great.
While I'm waiting, I'll prepare my Thanksgiving turkey.

I totally have the look of a homicidal maniac on my face every time I'm slicing up some chicken for the grill. This game looks pretty realistic.
You know, because everyone who eats meet looks like Chucky while they are cooking.

Meat should stop tasting so nice. Especially you, (real*) bacon.

Is the message PETA is trying to send "We have no fucking idea how to make games"? Cause they got that message across in their last game, thank you very much

What a bunch of whining 'anti-sissies' here in this comment thread... Just as annoying as the PETA stuff you're bitching about.

Am I the only one who doesn't care how animals are treated if they're going to wind up as food anyway? That just adds to the cost of upkeep to farmers and thins their profits, which are already pretty damn low. If the animals had the abilities, they would kill us without flinching.

To quote The Simpsons -
"Oh don't be fooled, Jimmy. If a cow ever got the chance, he'd eat you, and everyone you ever cared about."

Is it the message of properly draining the blood of anything you're going to eat?
