Video tour of Batman: Arkham Asylum's ... Arkham Asylum

This new video of Eidos and Rocksteady Studios' Batman: Arkham Asylum is heavy on the Arkham Asylum and, well, totally bat-free. Rather than some intense combat between the Caped Crusader and his rogues gallery, the game's publisher decided it would be more interesting to show off the game's environments. We'll give Eidos credit: it does look rather nice (and creepy).

If you're the sort that's into actual gameplay, you can always take a gander at our gallery of in-game shots below. And no, we didn't mistakenly link to screens of The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher's Bay, so you can delete the draft of that correction email you were working on.

I dislike fanboys. lol now seriously,show me gameplay. We have had way too many BAD games based on Batman. When the last good game was "Batman: The Animated Series" in the SNES,then you know you cannot trust just screenshots nor environment trailers.

Your logic fails, no gameplay doesnt mean it fails, it means we are incabable of judging the gameplay element at this point.

Graphically it looks pretty sweet, and it also looks like its taking Batman in a gritty direction that could really make it work.

In time we'll judge gameplay. Then you can give your pass/fail judgment with some validity.

I like the overall horror theme the graphic have, but how exactly can you make the game scary when you're playing "THE" Batman?

It's not really supposed to be scary. You're supposed to instill fear in the thugs you're fighting though, since that's part of Batman's tactics.

I am so psyched for this game, and I am hoping beyond hope it's good.

Seriously, read some of Frank Millers batman comics like the Dark Knight Returns, or Alan Moores, The Kiling Joke and you'll see a whole new side to Batman that at the moment you are completly overlooking.

From the sounds of things you still have the Adam West version stuck in your head.

Arkham asylum is one of the shoddiest outfits in all of Gotham. Seriously, how many convicts have the let escape over and over again?

Jeremiah Arkham must be masturbating and smoking crack all day because a monkey with a tazer could do a better job of keeping those inmates in line.

I can't help but wish Eidos would just sign over the rights to Ubisoft for this, this is a perfect game for them to develop and even though these screens look alright i cant help but feel they are going to screw it up somehow...

On another note though, is anyone else seriously disapointed they Heath Ledger's voice cant be in the game...all further iterations of the joker will be sorely lacking without him.

As much as I loved Heath Ledger's performance (and it's one of my favorite in any movie), Mark Hamill is more than capable of doing the Joker, as he's proven time and time again. The good thing about the character of the Joker is that there are lots of directions you can take it.

um looking pretty swell...at least something looks fairly decent in relation to batman... yes i said it... Dark Knight was possibly the worst.... actually im not gonna even go there.... point is... looking pretty swell... all you guys complaining quit your whining you know it looks good!!!
