Xbox 360 Fanboy presents stupid Avatar tricks
You've had the New Xbox Experience for less than a week now, but we know how you operate. We know that most of you are like sharks who must constantly move towards the next tech stimulation to avoid dying. Luckily, Xbox 360 Fanboy has your back, providing fun tricks you and your avatar can do together.
So, if you want to teach the miniature version of yourself to spin wildly, you're only one click away. If you need to learn how to spin wildly yourself, you're probably reading the wrong blog.

The avatars have started to grow on me.
Kingdom of Keflings, that uses avatars, is the best $10 game I have bought. Highly addictive.
Dr. @ Nov 24th 2008 11:35AM
Really? I couldn't stand the demo for that game.
Titanium_Orchid @ Nov 24th 2008 2:49PM
whats that game about?
Vol @ Nov 24th 2008 2:53PM
It is basically city building and directing your minglings (a.k.a. Keflings) to gather the required resources to do it.
Try it out.
If anyone wants to play along, I am sure my friend and I will be playing tonight at 11 p.m. CST.

Yeah I was surprised that I ended up liking that game. I downloaded the trial to see if my daughter would like it and then I got addicted! Its such a NOTHING game but I can't stop playing it.
reign-♥-of-♥-love @ Nov 24th 2008 11:17AM
wow i got to try that enthusiastic spin with the thumb stick! but dont want to turn on the box... too far away from my comfy bed
Burritoclock @ Nov 24th 2008 11:26AM
Yeah, everyday I hate the stupid avatars less and less. Damn you Microsoft, damn you!
xGeneral DEATHx (Mr ESC Welcome Back Party Ultimate Mega Action Force) @ Nov 24th 2008 12:05PM
Indeed...mine looks pretty close to me in real life, and was just put together as a joke...now I get a kick out of scrolling through friends' profiles and judging whether or not they look like their real-world counterparts.
xFenixKnightx @ Nov 24th 2008 12:57PM
Same here, stupid bastards are cute. >:( Suprisingly, they can really capture your look. Just need more color and clothes options.
Obie @ Nov 24th 2008 11:31AM
One trick I wanna know is how to get rid of that spammy "Spotlight" channel, friggin' obnoxious.
Odog4ever @ Nov 24th 2008 11:52AM
I always hit the guide button immediately after my xbox boots, and navigate from there, so the spotlight channel is not that big a deal for me.
xGeneral DEATHx (Mr ESC Welcome Back Party Ultimate Mega Action Force) @ Nov 24th 2008 12:10PM
Isn't there an option to the far right of the Spotlight portion that lets you remove it? Or am I just crazy?
343 Guilty Fart @ Nov 24th 2008 12:26PM
I think that option is only for the Welcome channel (are we calling them 'channels' now?) I really find the Spotlight/Events/and Inside Xbox channels redundant, couldn't they just put all that info into one channel?
Haon @ Nov 24th 2008 12:47PM
I just press up once I boot to go to the games section. I have to agree that is very annoying.
Obie @ Nov 24th 2008 2:33PM
And don't get me started about scrolling past the marketplace tabs to get to my friends list.
Awesomo:Lame, weak, not cool!
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread - XBL: SoCoolCurt) @ Nov 29th 2008 12:28AM
the Spotlight, Events, and Inside Xbox Channels are the MOST annoying part of the NXE. overall i love the features of it but the redundancy and annoyance of those 3 ad channels almost negate all the good stuff. i just wish i could turn them off!
Myth84 @ Nov 24th 2008 11:37AM
Let me pick the colors of my shirt and pants!
RARGGHHH!
reign-♥-of-♥-love @ Nov 24th 2008 11:42AM
agree
HappyFunBall @ Nov 24th 2008 11:58AM
Just don't wear pants. It's much more comfortable, and you don't have to worry whether or not they match.
Kye - Capcom DF @ Nov 24th 2008 11:58AM
they will
when you pay for it.

Clothing packs are free.

What button code do I punch in to make my avatar stop standing like a woman.
Obie @ Nov 24th 2008 2:34PM
lol I know right? That weird model hip stance, can't my dude stand up straight and cross his arms?
Cubfan786 @ Nov 24th 2008 12:16PM
Son this the new Facebook??
NXEbook or something like that?
ToRo @ Nov 24th 2008 1:33PM
I wish there was a way to stop the 360 from asking me if I want to make one when I clearly don't want to.
xFenixKnightx @ Nov 24th 2008 1:37PM
It is...inevitable!
xGeneral DEATHx (Mr ESC Welcome Back Party Ultimate Mega Action Force) @ Nov 24th 2008 1:43PM

You already know the answer, so no need to wish.
Your thinking stfu arent you. I know...
I know...
Sam Zebian @ Nov 24th 2008 2:46PM
Idk why, but when the NXE came out last week, a lot of my friends that I know are white had black avatars. Either they want to be black, or they're just racist. or weird.
Markez @ Nov 25th 2008 9:21PM
"Either they want to be black, or they're just racist. or weird."
I don't think it's either, I think it's just a stupid ass conclusion to come to. They're just avatars, don't read too much into it.
Ihar `Philips` Filipau @ Nov 24th 2008 3:27PM
Is it possible to make avatar character to stand straight? (Dunno proper Engrish) Or change the pose?
Because the pose (with one leg to side) which is taken by something like 100% of avatars becomes quite annoying and irritating to my eyes.
Even Miis can stand straight. I can't believe that MSFT overlooked that.
P.S. Any bets when the hype over the avatars would go down?
OWENR22 @ Nov 24th 2008 3:30PM
I still hate my Avatar and the whole of the NXE. I want the old dashboard back. Stupid Microsoft.
Sean @ Nov 24th 2008 4:00PM
It's ok.. your avatar hates you too.
Snowblind @ Nov 24th 2008 6:35PM
I can understand not caring about the avatars.. but what do you have against a faster, cleaner and all round better dashboard?
