A black guy is the president elect of the USA, EA have become a respectable company churning out high quality and innovative games, and super-casual Wii games and FIFA have been beaten to the top of the UK games charts by decent AAA titles for over a month now.

I'm pretty sure hell already has frozen over.

I actually prefer to RPG on my DS. Gives me more freedom to game as i will for games that can be rather monotonous if you're sitting down the whole time

The only RPGs I've ever liked were the Mario ones. I played FFVII and hated it. Due to my distaste for the fantasy genre, I can't even enjoy any of the non cel-shaded Zelda games.

Do I still *need* to play this game?

Yes, and FF7 is more sci-fi than fantasy compared to the other games in the series. God, lurk more or something.

Finish this statement:

If you don't like RPGs, and Chrono Trigger is an RPG, then ________________.

I have a feeling that most that will play this have already played the SNES original (probably years ago though) and most will not be playing this game for the first time, such as the younger gamer generation.

I really hope to also see a remake or port of Illusion of Gaia...

That game is one of my favorites games ever.

A port of Chrono Cross on any handheld and I'll buy the game 9 times and the platform if I don't already own it.

I have the PS1 version, but haven't yet played it. Is it really as bad as they say?

PS1 version is total garbage. Load times kill this game. Get original, ds version, or emulate it. Just stay away from the ps1 version.

It's weird. When you bring up your menu outside of battle (like to check your stats, equip weapons, etc) it takes like 10 seconds for that screen to load. It doesn't seem like a big issue, but in an RPG you're constantly in those screens tweaking your charcters' stats, so it becomes a major issue very quickly. If you can live with it, its a perfectly capable port - but it was enough to make me give up in the middle.

I'm interested in reading what a person who has never played Chrono Trigger thinks of the game. Anybody know of a review like this?

no. but the first time i played it was only a couple of years ago. On an emulator with slightly broken graphics in places. So i don't think my view is too clouded by nostalgia.

One of the best games of all time.

$40? The story was written, the art was done, the only thing left was the port. $20 maybe.

$40 fucking dollars, huh. Only Square and Nintendo can get away with this kind of thing. I can't believe people would pay this.

Actually, Nintendo only charges $35 for their games.

Square's $40 dollar games are what we call The Square-Enix Tax.

Let's hope it means the same success in Europe. They've been waiting over a decade for this game. Neither previous version was ever officially released there.

Maybe if we buy enough copies, they'll make a real sequel.

So this is why Square sued its loyal fans who tried to make a drastically enhanced 3D version of the game with a cease and desist letter? So they could sell the same game for 40 bucks 13 years after its release? This might be the greatest or 2nd greatest rpg of all time, but that's just a pathetic amount of price gouging...

There's the link for the project I mentioned for any interested
