Xbox 360-exclusive DLC? Lara Croft fans aren't so easily swayed, it seems. According to GamesIndustry.biz, the gallivanting grave-robber has found herself exploring the interior of the PlayStation 3, more than any other system, with the release of Tomb Raider: Underworld. The report notes that 51 percent of the game's initial UK sales (before Monday?) were on Sony's monolithic platform, with the Xbox 360 accounting for 34 percent. The rest is made up of Underworld's PC, Wii and DS versions.
While the news is somewhat surprising -- the Xbox 360 tends to enjoy a larger share of multiplatform sales -- it should be noted that PlayStation 3 owners missed out on the last two, post-reboot Tomb Raider adventures. We'll see whether that reflects in the US sales once the month is over.

SO what you're saying is that PS3 gamers just have really bad taste in games? Or they want virtual boobies more than 360 gamers?
Kidding, kidding, guys. This is a bit odd though, I gotta say.

ugh, you suck. I too have the gimped Wii version. and by far this is the worst TR game I've ever played. its not even half the game Anniversary was on the wii and not even a quarter as good as Legend on the GameCube.
I tell everyone I see not to buy it. Don't even rent it.

AND, PS3 owners cannot play Gears of War II or Left 4 Dead.....that MIGHT have a little something to do with it.

sorry guys, just referring to the fact that a couple triple-A title just came out for the xbox and that is why sales are low for tomb raider on it. No need to get all testes......

I think the more interesting thing about this is, the 360 had a demo, the PS3 did not. That could be a factor putting some 360 owners off. Tomb Raider has a history of being on the PS platforms but honestly, i doubt thats a real factor as TR Anniversary was on 360 and sold quite well.
As for DLC.. i think exclusive DLC only matters when the game is high profile. I don't see a game like Tomb Raider even getting close to the sales a game like Fallout 3 will.
These are UK figures obviously and despite Xbox 360 having more sold in the UK, its foolish to think the PS3 (and Playstation brand) are doing badly here, which just isn't the case. The PS3 is selling well, even at the ridiculous price point.

You may have a point. I was...not exactly interested, but mildly nostalgic. Then I played the demo, and I lost all interest.

Sales couldn't possibly have anything to do with the glut of 360 exclusives over the past three months. In just the past three months we've had Too Human, Infinite Undiscovery, Fable II, Gears of War 2, the Last Remnant & Left 4 Dead. Then you toss in cross platform titles like Rock Band 2, GH:WT, Fallout 3, Force Unleashed & Mirror's Edge. Something's gotta give. 360 owners have not been hurting for quality entertainment. It's been a constant barrage on the wallet. Kinda makes me worry for Prince of Persia.

Why don't multiplatforms count? Point remains, if your only console is 360 then you have a dozen [perceived] hit titles to choose from over the past few months. It's hard to make the 9th game, of what's perceived as a tired franchise, stand out in that crowd. Plus you factor in with Legend and Anniversary, the TR has almost become an annual franchise on the 360. People can get their Lara fix for far less than $60 on the 360.
Of course with almost a 2:1 install base difference in the US, I imagine things will be different when those numbers hit next month.
