GamesRadar Avatarizes your favorite celebs
Not content with the real celebrities we featured last week, GamesRadar has taken it upon themselves to turn some of your favorite TV, music and movie celebrities into Avatars without their consent. Honestly, there ought to be a law.
Though their Niko Bellic is great and their Sarah Palin is spot-on, we have to admit to having a soft spot in our heart for sad, broken-down Mario. You think that's how he looked when they pitched him on Mario Super Curling?

SomethingAwful did it too: http://www.somethingawful.com/d/comedy-goldmine/new-xbox-avatar.php
Shagittarius @ Nov 26th 2008 11:40AM
Not even close.
Mike @ Nov 26th 2008 11:47AM
Looks nothing like Stephen Colbert. Fail.
xFenixKnightx @ Nov 26th 2008 12:17PM
I know, WTF is wrong with these people trying things out? What for? Its pointless! Nobody should ever try to this again, EVAR!
&rew @ Nov 26th 2008 11:50AM
It would look more like Stephen if he was angry.
Killjebus @ Nov 26th 2008 11:54AM
MS and their wiiTARS...and coming soon, they will CHARGE YOU for them, I mean...just look and be in awe of the quality and DETAIL.
Snowblind @ Nov 26th 2008 12:57PM
The clothing packs - at least most of them, are going to be free. And frankly, I wouldn't mind paying a little, if it meant more options for the Mii's.
But seriously, Nintendo did not invent avatars. The 360 used gamerpics before any of the other console, which is likely why Nintendo came up with the idea to use a 3D version of that, which Microsoft and Yahoo have been doing for Messenger programs and Face Book for years.
Nintendo was actually sued over the Mii's because they were so similar to the "WeeMee's" you can use on messenger programs.
Danny F. @ Nov 26th 2008 12:08PM
Out of all them Nico looks the closest to its avatar lookalike. The rest.. eehhh... kinda, the clothes options kills it though, especially on Kratos.
Superstar90 @ Nov 26th 2008 12:15PM
Too effeminate. Not enough MEGAMERICAN!
BrokenBycicle @ Nov 26th 2008 12:32PM
Mario The Plumber is my favourite in a sad puppy kind of way. I bet he's thinking something along the lines of 'The Princess, she's in another castle, isn't a-she?' while someone in the background is shouting 'C'mon! Those toilets ain't gonna unblock themselves and I need to use them!'
343 Guilty Fart @ Nov 26th 2008 12:36PM
I think they got ol' Georgie spot on. I want to go make that my avatar now.
Dante G @ Nov 26th 2008 12:52PM
I don't get people's fascination with Stephen Colbert. What's so great about him?
Abuzar Baloach @ Nov 26th 2008 1:03PM
Uhhh, because he is amazing.
xFenixKnightx @ Nov 26th 2008 1:17PM
"What's so great about him?"
NOTHING! They should have used my Avatar as the pic for the story like my good friends at X3F.com
-Chuck Norris
http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/11/26/real-celebrities-get-avatared/
Fun Fact: Chuck Norris is currently suing NBC, claiming Law and Order are trademarked names for his left and right legs.
Seriously though, Dante. I dont get it either.
Bass Masterson @ Nov 26th 2008 1:28PM
What's so great about him? Why, he cynically mocks conservatives! It's not like you see that in any form of media. He's breaking new ground!
Superstar90 @ Nov 26th 2008 2:08PM
Did he hurt your feelings Bass?
Dante G @ Nov 26th 2008 2:24PM
I think Bass was being sarcastic.
@Fenix
Chuck Norris over Anyone ;)
unfriendly_cat @ Nov 26th 2008 3:14PM
Colbert is good entertainment. The catch is that in order to get the most out of it one has to, on some level, buy into the idea that Stephen Colbert is very awesome. Which is fine with me, but also explains why some people dislike him or don't get the phenomenon.
offday @ Nov 26th 2008 5:08PM
He isn't funny at all.
Superstar90 @ Nov 26th 2008 7:35PM
I doubt Bass was being sarcastic, have you seen his posting history, especially when the election was going on?
House @ Nov 26th 2008 1:00PM
I'm sorry, but that is pathetic compared to the Wii. Why no ability to move around and scale facial features?
Alien Lord @ Nov 26th 2008 1:26PM
Steven Colbert is a great celebrity to avatarize
shMerker @ Nov 26th 2008 1:32PM
I like how, now that Microsoft has implemented avatars we get to have the exact same headlines we had two years ago about Miis.
DrunkRaba @ Nov 26th 2008 7:25PM
And we will get them again once Home is released and you can make avatars that ACTUALLY look basically identical. Not this sort of close crap.
Nick the Hero of Canton @ Nov 26th 2008 2:28PM
I've been using a Conan o Brien avatar:

xFenixKnightx @ Nov 26th 2008 2:41PM
Looks good, just change into the suit.
BigD145 @ Nov 26th 2008 4:06PM
Does Mario also owe back taxes?
TwEE @ Nov 26th 2008 4:29PM
Microsoft is doing great at showing people how good miis are. That is to say, you don't realize how good Miis are until you use microsoft's avatars.
Man, blatantly ripping of the miis like this seems like such a desperate move. You'd think they'd try to do something distinctly Microsoft or play to their strengths or something. Instead they shit out a bland vanilla version of what Nintendo's doing.
xFenixKnightx @ Nov 26th 2008 5:15PM
Yeah they definately look like a Miis, oh wait, NO...they don't, at all.
TwEE @ Nov 26th 2008 7:00PM
Um xFenixKnightx these Avatars dont just look like Miis they ARE Miis.
Snowblind @ Nov 26th 2008 7:01PM
I refer you to my previous post, and I'll also add that in the past two weeks, I've had more use out of my avatar than I've had with my Mii in the past two years.
DrunkRaba @ Nov 26th 2008 7:34PM
When has Microsoft ever innovated to bring people to their products? That's not what they have EVER done in their history. They just mimic what people like about other products and slap their name on it.
TwEE @ Nov 26th 2008 7:42PM
Nobody is claiming Nintendo or Microsoft invented the idea of avatars (how old is the word avatar?) but you cant possibly think if it wasn't for Nintendo and the way they integrated Miis into their console and games that Microsoft would ever in a million years think of doing it.
Or what DrunkRaba said..
Snowblind @ Nov 26th 2008 7:51PM
Micrsoft came up with the idea of using avatars (gamerpics) on the consoles, which is most probably were the idea for the Mii's came from. A 3D, customisable version of an avatar is an obvious extension of that.
mliving @ Nov 26th 2008 8:39PM
Ha ha ha LOL...
Hey wait the Wii did stupid shit like this two years ago and MS calls it an upgrade.
Snowblind @ Nov 27th 2008 6:33AM
Just like when the PS3 brought in the trophies, and everyone was really excited about it, even though they were a direct rip of achievements?
j.howlett @ Nov 26th 2008 11:58PM
maybe on of my cousins could let me experiment making an avatar on their 360. i want to fool around with my home avatar some more. my mii looks more like me and i don't like the way the nxe ones stand
twilightlynk.com @ Nov 27th 2008 1:15AM
What about Zoidberg? Everybody forgets Zoidberg! BRRRRRWARRARWAR!
