Using their time belts, our friends at PS3 Fanboy traveled into the future yesterday, all the way to Nov. 26 in the year 2008. Yeah, they traveled into today basically. So, what did they see on their journey? Well, we don't want any sort of Biff-gets-the-Sports-Almanac-style space-time fluxes, so let's just say that Obama names someone to some position, something happens on the the stock market, and PS3 Firmware 2.53 is released and it does something.
That last one isn't us being coy, we really don't know what it does, save for full screen support for Adobe Flash content hinted at in a listing that has since disappeared. Here's hoping there's a little more to it than that when it (probably) releases today.

I'm wondering if X360 updates are just chunks of data on the hard drive, whereas the PS3 reflashes a chip each time.

I don't think I ever got the last one, which had some sort of significant improvements or something. I suppose I should update at some point.
Is there a way to set them to automatically update?

I dunno, watching Blu-Rays doesn't force me to connect to the 'net, do they?

I want them to make one that turns my PS3 into a Roomba. Better yet, my Wii...after all, it's already so good at collecting dust.

Full screen for flash combined with better Hulu and Youtube support would be epic. If they can get sites like Hulu working, the PS3 would basically become a web connected DVR that you don't even need to set to remember to record your shows.
Let's hope that the update really does have better flash support.

Not all web video is low quality...sites like Hulu offer Hi-Def and 480p versions of TV shows and movies. The quality really is good for the HD stream, and it isn't that bad for the 480p stream (especially for TV. It's like watching a show on a non-HD channel, which I will agree, sounds like torture in this HD age, but whatever).
I think there are more people out there than you think that would love to be able to fire up their PS3, go to Hulu, and watch an episode of a TV show that they missed and forgot to tape. Not everyone has a DVR, and even those that do have to remember to tell their DVR to record a show (unless they have it set to record every instance of a show, which not all DVRs have the capacity to do). Then again, most people have no idea that their PS3 has a web browser period, so it may all be a moot point.

Well do you know what this damn update does? I hate that these firmware updates take 10 minutes to download and then another 5 to install and I don't have a clue what it did to my machine. It's annoying. Especially when my xbox gets a complete overhaul and the whole thing took 3 minutes.
You can definitely tell where the respective companies strengths lies.
XBox = Great software support, crap hardware.
PS3 = Great hardware, crap software support.

I'd really like full iPod support. I use my PS3 now for everything media related, but when I want to play something off the pod (which is pretty much my entire music collection) I have to fire up the 360. Heck, I'd be willing to get a Zune if it worked with the PS3 but I hear they've got even less functionality with the PS3.

whats wrong the with the zune?
and zune pass?
ipod = DRM music, hassle transfer.
ipod = works better on apple computers.
ipod = expensive
ipod = expensive download service at $ 1 per track.
zune pass is $ 15 per month unlimited music service.
the zune works great with windows and windows media player.
the zune has fm radio built in.

I never said anything about the iPod. I own one, but only because I got it for free. Apparently nobody knows that it works with Winamp, and I haven't spent a dime on music (I listen to music that usually isn't available on CDs).
But seriously, there are better MP3 players on the market besides the iPods and Zune. The only reason I haven't bought one is because I'm cheap as all hell.

I love how Obama can do no wrong. He wins and the announcement sends the DOW down 17%. But that's not his fault! The market goes up around the time he makes an announcement (and key earnings data comes out) - that's our Obama!

have you ever thought that your post caused the DOW to drop 17%? no no, i find both you and obama's announcement to be completely unrelated from the subject at hand

You sound like a jealous Bush lover. Four things made us complain about the last presidency- Oil, Katrina, Iraq, and Secrets (where is Donald Rumsfeld?). Im sure a nice PS3 update will solve all of your worries. I also want a ps3 remote connectivity app for my ipod touch so I can watch all the divx movies I downloaded and so I can install updates before I arrive home. By the way, wouldn’t it be nice to get “Home” during the holidays so we can show it off to family and friends? Obama is the man. He earned it and he did it without speaking about war 90 percent of the time. For Christ sakes he beat Hillary and Bill Clinton… along with McCain.

You sound like an Obamatard. Obama didn't "earn" anything, he was handed the election by a completely complicit media that refused to investigate any issues surrounding him, a populace who was more concerned with ridiculing the greater qualifications of Sarah Palin than bothering to notice Obama never accomplished anything, and a bunch of people beholden to a public image.
You libs crack me up. All you rant and rave about "intelligent decisions" and so forth and you vote for the most popular and photogenic guy.
Or perhaps you don't know about the Zogby poll that shows the vast majority of people who voted for Obama didn't have a clue what he was pretending to believe?
And as for your list:
- Oil is still a problem, it was a problem in the Carter administration
- Katrina was a natural occurrence. You might be interested to learn that the hurricane never hit New Orleans. Rising floodwaters collapsed the levees. The city knew for years that this would happen and did nothing.
- The Iraq war was voted for and strongly supported by the party you claim will now deliver us from their mistakes.
- 'Secrets'? Are you 9?
Keep living the dream. The delusional, self-absorbed dream.

It took about an 8th of the time for me to download and install the "New Xbox Experience" than it did for me to download the last PS3 update. I have no idea what the last PS3 update did. I don't use my ps3 all that often, and when I do, half the time there's another mandatory update for me to download. This usually prompts me to shut off my ps3 and boot up my 360. For me, it's a seriously problem with the ps3, along with mandatory installs of games.
