They should launch a week or two before other services if it is a SONY pic imo.

The new stuff is almost never in HD. I'll be amazed if most/any of these are in HD. Don't want to bother if they're not in HD anymore, myself.

I haven't seen a single show available to purchase in HD (only rentals). Until that changes, the service is dead to me.

I think the prices are too high for the tv shows, especially considering once you download them you can't delete them or you'll lose them for good. DVDs are cheaper, more versatile, lend-able, and resellable. I think the video store is cool but the prices need to come down for me to take it seriously. $30+ for Aqua Teen Hunger Force season 1?? Kiss my ass!

Prices are too damn high. $2 for a tv show? An 11 minute episode of ATHF is $2? Piss off. But thank you Sony for updating the flash player so I can watch a lot of the overpriced crap for free.

I agree, TV shows should have a rental option just like movies. I want to watch these things and be done with them, not let them sit on my HDD taking up space. Also, a 30 minute show and a 15 minute show should be two different prices.

you won't find new movies in HD because it would hurt blu-ray sales

Absolutely right: how can it be so hard for Sony to organise licensing in the EU as well?

Also, in case Sony reads this: although I live in Spain, I want the option to buy/rent in English (not just the crappy dubbed versions I feel sure you'll try to foist on me when you do get around to offering this service in Europe).

The studio's initial greed has come back to bite them in the ass.... Maybe if they hadn't sold all the licensing rights they could be selling more movies in other places besides the USA. And they wonder why people download from torrent sites !!!

$6 for a hi-def movie? Hi-def from DirecTV is $5 and has the newest releases; or if I go through NetFlix it's only $6 for 2 blu-ray movies per month. The PSN just isn't a good value for movie rentals.

I'll trade the psn video store for Play TV anyday. Well maybe.....that a fair deal EU users?

Play TV only works in Euro because of the digital broadcast type we use. The US has had a bigger uptake of cable and sattellite (*sp) so there has been little / no use of the type of broadcast we use.

I wish you guys could use Play TV, it is pretty handy. But does anyone else in the UK get skippy / choppy reception on play TV?2 channels I used to watch on my £20 Freeveiw box don't work at all on PlayTV... (Dave and E4+1) say's "No Signal"...

Also, I watched something last night and recorded it too for my housemate, watching it was fine, but the recording was all choppy/skippy/jerky - looked like poor signal, but the direct feed was fine????

Wierd....

But yeah, it would be awesome if we could have access to the Video service in the UK. Sort it out SCEE.

Even the rental prices are too high. I can go across the street to Hollywood video or the Redbox at McDonald's and rent a DVD (even on blu-ray) for 99 cents per movie. I can have the movie and be back at the house watching it in 5 minutes. The video store is way overpriced. I have been loyal to Sony since the original Playstation, but I will never use the video service unless prices drop drastically. Sorry Sony!

two questions/comments:

1) Is this rental AND retail?

2) more of a comment, but with the SD version of movies I have rented from the PSN, the PS3 does one hell of a job upconverting to 1080i and on my 1080p TV the SD movies look as good as true HD content.
