I do like LittleBigPlanet and I think is a good game.
But its not 95 good IMO, 85 or 90 would be a better score.

This is just my opinion guys, chill out.

Hala: I wasn't disagreeing with you, per se. You may well have found it dull once you'd completed the main story. That's a perfectly valid opinion.

I was disagreeing with TPL who was trying to pass off your opinion as a fact.

I don't even own a ps3 and I want littlebigplanet. I have no problem with it getting a game of the year nod.
Just thought I'd add some sanity to this discussion.

The most interesting reviews are Left4Dead (8.8) and Resistance 2 (8.7). Because what these together imply is:, if Insomniac has built Resistance 2 with the same level of graphics as Resistance 1 (or even worse), barely any single player, simpler multiplayer and a diluted version of its class based 8-player coop, it should have scored higher by 0.1 points. Someone should let them know where they went wrong.

This seems like an invitation to start a flame war, but i'll bite.

Resistance = Generic FPS with some admittedly nice graphics revisions such as co-op and multiplayer

L4D = Original team based gameplay that's more innovative, enthralling, and above all, fun.

I've never found a game that could rope you in and have you as emotionally invested (for a non rpg) as L4D. That and killing zombies > killing aliens, and the characters actually have personality

L4D does have its flaws (short single player, etc.), but its an original, well made, incredibly fun game to play. Resistance is a pretty good FPS, at a time when pretty good FPS's just don't stand out anymore

Also:

Left 4 Dead's commercial is 100% better than Resistance's commercial.

Out of those that I've owned off this list, the most enjoyable and fun games to me, in this order, are:

Fable II
GoW2
Boom Blox
Professor Layton
FFIV
Super Smash Bros
Braid
GTAIV

This is pretty rough around the edges, though. Boom Blox absolutely rules. Smash would be higher but I moved out of state and don't have local friends to play with anymore. Fable II might be so high because I just recently finished it :P

Forgot to say something about this so here goes. My number 1 is RB2 which if you own RB1 is 140 dollars off of 100 songs and a menu patch. Not a bad deal considering. My number two is L4D, the only non Civ IV game to pull me away from RB.

It's pretty sickining to know that the gaming media has its head so far up its own ass that a little game like "World Of Goo" or "Peggle" will still be given high reviews scores but, will never have a shot at winning game of the year awards bacause they dont have "TEH EPIC CUTSENCE"S AND STORYLINES" or not made by a huge company like konami, square, activision or nintendo(just to name a few) even though they are far more fun and inovative games.

I apparently missed the world of goo train when I played a few levels of the pc version. What the hell did I miss? I thought it was pretty damn boring and I certainly didn't see anything I thought was innovative.

Yeah, because Portal had one of the most epic storylines of all time and Peggle was full of brilliant cutscenes. That's why they didn't even end up in last years GOTY thread on Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com/2008/01/01/joystiqs-top-10-games-of-2007/ ).

Hype and Buzz surrounding games seems to be just as important as the actual game itself when choosing Game of the Year awards. Bigger, huge budget game, are usually the ones that have most buzz and hype. So that is why they usually win. Small puzzle games that had no prerelease buzz, such as World of Goo have no chance of winning awards no matter how good they are, far or not. But sometimes, lower budget games slip in.

Watch. Little Big Planet is going to win a bunch of GOTY awards. I've never played the game, and I don't really have much desire to, although I am curious about it. But I could have told you a week before any reviews were even written about it that is going to a ton of GOTY awards, just based on the buzz alone. It only wouldn't win awards if it turned out less than good, it doesn't even have to be great, it will still win awards.

I'm glad to see three of my favourite games of the year - Rez, Professor Layton, and TWEWY - made the meta-meta cut. Though, I don't know why I'm glad.

The inclusion of Chrono Trigger does irk me a little. A dirty port? Or maybe I'm a little disappointed it's not on the VC - that's probably it.

And there should have been a special achievement slot for Harvey Birdman. I don't know how you'd fit it in, but Birdman should have been mentioned.

Basically, they need to bring back Harvey Birdman.

Super lolz at the names of these games. It makes you wonder how stupid a game like Metroid would sound if it wasn't a AAA game.

Surprising how many WiiWare titles are up there. Service is better than expected, i think, given the amount of crap on the platform in general and the fact that it still isn't a year old yet

NO F^CKIN WAY GTAIV is GOTY........... That games was hype and a half. AS well as SSMB.

MGS4 haters are a special breed. You dont have to like it but give credit where its due. That game was all kinds of innovative. From textures, to the story line, From the meticulous detail to weapons to the spot on voice over work.

Iam not gonna force MGS4 down your throat but that games does deserve to be highly ranked.

GTA4 was a good game - it's just that through all the hype, a lot of you forgot what GTA games are, and got angry when - lo and behold - GTA4 turned out to be a lot like other GTA games. You should be angry at yourself for buying into the hype, not at developers for following a tried-and-true formula.

At the beginning of the year, I read so many people proclaim 2008 to be "the year of the PS3." MGS4 came and went. LBP was a sleeper. I don't even know anyone who talks about Resistance 2.

Compare that to Gears 2, Fable 2, other smaller exclusive games like Braid, and the host of multi-platform titles, and I really don't think you can say that the PS3 was "hands down" better in any way, for this year or any other.

Personally, I don't understand why you can't just enjoy your console, even if it doesn't have all the triple A titles this time around. Ten years ago, the N64 got the shaft as far as many major game releases went, but that sure as hell didn't stop me from enjoying it.
