Desert Bus for Hope 2 rolls on for Child's Play
As a reminder to those of you who like either helping sick kids or bearing witness to the most boring things in existence, the crew from LoadingReadyRun has just launched the second annual "Desert Bus for Hope" campaign. You can watch as they raise money for the Child's Play charity by playing the astonishingly boring "Desert Bus" mini-game from the unreleased Penn and Teller's Smoke and Mirrors. How long they'll play is entirely up to you.
They're already guaranteed a 71 hour run, but by giving cash you can force them to go even longer. If there's a better way to spend your money than helping charity while simultaneously making a group of grown men die a little bit inside, we haven't heard of it.

If I can scrounge up the cash to donate, I'll wait to the end to be sadistic.

Just watched some gameplay video. Its mind numbing.
Best of luck to those guys!
Markez @ Nov 28th 2008 11:28PM
As did I... So you just drive?
Also, congratulations on reinviting yourself. Bear, now with more attitude?

And while you're at it, you really should check out Loading Ready Run's videos on their site. They've got 5 years of stuff on it and it's all worth a looksee.

Best of luck to them they're doing a great thing! (or not so great)
Mr Khan @ Nov 28th 2008 10:39PM
In terms of karma, would this count as a good thing or a bad thing? I mean you're making people suffer, but making them do so for a good cause
I suppose the good outweighs the ill, but still, none of us have ever been subjected to Desert Bus
LaughingTarget @ Nov 29th 2008 12:12PM
I'd call it busma.
Wiinterfang @ Nov 28th 2008 10:55PM
Is Desert Bus a mix between game and Screensaver? if that's the case then we need a Wii version.
Blank-Mage @ Nov 28th 2008 11:13PM
That's the greatest charity EVER. Do we get a commentary from them? I'd pay even more to hear it.
spottednigel @ Nov 28th 2008 11:39PM
Watched a LOT of their webcast last year. Really quite fun, especially later into the night. The guys (and gal) were really fun to listen to, and even whored themselves out (sing for me monkey!)
And Blank-Mage, they had two feeds, one directly from the game, another showing them and the room with sound (and a chat window!)
Moggeh @ Nov 29th 2008 4:34AM
Oh man, watching this last year was so great. Hopefully this round will be ever better!
I'm pretty sure the best part of the cam was... what was it, "Dear Dr. Morgan"? That part of the chat room was so fantastic. So many silly questions.
Zak Canard @ Nov 29th 2008 4:54AM
Their donations/power level reached OVER NINE THOUSAND a few hours ago, guaranteeing at least a 95 hour run. Well played to them, now go for the 100 hour mark and beyond.

Is anyone familiar with P&T's last game on like nintendo or Snes. It was impossible to beat and had a driving section that went on a ridiculously long time. When you beat it you get like a you win word art on the screen.
Do they make these games just so charity folks can play? because its somehow more forgivable to intentionally rob ppl of valuable time in their lives if its in the name of charity. Ass holes.
And am I making all that up about their first game, seems like i read an article long ago that had all the afformentioned info in it.
jynxycat @ Nov 29th 2008 12:08PM
Sounds like the game that the guys in the article are playing. It's one game out of a few that you can play, and it's for Sega CD.
Once you get to the destination, you get a point, and are offered a chance to drive back where you came from, for another point.
Deone @ Nov 29th 2008 1:58PM
Oh I see. I feel dumb now. The term in the article "Unreleased," led me to believe that it was yet to be released. Which I guess is sort of saying the same thing, but you know what I mean...
kriscolumbus @ Nov 29th 2008 10:17AM
Mmm... deserts.
James @ Nov 29th 2008 12:35PM
I loved torturing them last year. Making them drive upside down! CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS YEAR!!!!!! YESS!!!! Now I actually get a few days notice to come up with more irritating stunts...NICE
Bob @ Nov 29th 2008 4:05PM
Penn & Teller are insufferable cretins.
refinedsugar @ Nov 29th 2008 7:19PM
OMG, DJ Cuddlebunnies!! His beats are so hot he has to spin them under a pseudonym.
