GTA's 'The Lost and Damned' sold as $20 'token card' by Gamestop
A retail chain selling downloadable content? What madness does the world find itself plummeting into now? According to a listing on Gamestop's online store, the forthcoming Grand Theft Auto IV add-on episode, The Lost and Damned, can be purchased as an Xbox Live Marketplace token card. The product page indicates that no disc is included in the packaging -- it contains only the download code (nonrefundable!) and a two-sided poster.
The chance to revisit the two-faced posers of Liberty City will seemingly cost you $19.99 when it releases on February 17th, 2009. The Lost and Damned's price has yet to be confirmed by Rockstar.

This better be something good if they want my $20 for it when I have no interest in GTA 4 whatsoever right now
Premature ejaculation man @ Nov 28th 2008 3:26PM
Likewise.
Soulcrux42 @ Nov 28th 2008 3:27PM
If you dont want to,then don't buy it
Last time I checked they weren't FORCING you to buy their product.
SoulBlade @ Nov 28th 2008 3:32PM
soulcrux - but it's easier to bitch and moan about it
Premature ejaculation man @ Nov 28th 2008 3:39PM
When was that suggested? We were (at least I was) only saying that we hope its something worthwhile to pique our interests else we won't get it. Obviously, there was a hidden message in the source suggesting we are being forced to buy it regardless of whether its good. And that if sure does give off a hint of being forced
;p
BananaBoat @ Nov 28th 2008 3:46PM
It better be an entire freaking expansion pack for 20 bucks. 20 bucks is beyond the realm of DLC, and directly into expansion pack territory. It better add to the game mechanics (more weapons, the ability to parachute off of buildings, etc) and not just to the length (which is all a few additional missions would do).
Give me a flamethrower, and leave the "go to point A, whack some dudes, run from police back to point B" missions at the door.
tuaamin13 @ Nov 28th 2008 6:36PM
I want the return of the RAMPAGE system!
Geist @ Nov 28th 2008 7:29PM
Oh god someone help me. Rockstar is holding a gun to my head and forcing me to buy it. Oh god oh god they won't just take my money they want me to buy the game. Someone please help me oh shit I think I hear them coming bac
tmacairjordan87 @ Nov 29th 2008 10:54AM
What a retarded argument that is. So no one can ever complain about anything because no one's forcing them to buy it? Horrible logic. It's called feedback, something that rockstar can collect so they stop putting out shit like GTA 4 and return to what made the gta games fun to begin with.
SpydaKat 17 @ Nov 29th 2008 12:39PM
They need to bring back the pedal bikes, riding around and shooting people on a bike was EPIC
Codman24 @ Nov 28th 2008 3:24PM
It could be cheaper to get it from GS than from the XBLM
Demaar @ Nov 29th 2008 3:10AM
Definitely, retail stores have sales more frequently and have the ability to cut prices to shift physical product. The XBM and PSS don't have this problem so prices remain relatively constant.
007craft @ Nov 28th 2008 3:38PM
FUCK. I cant even reply to a comment, only start a new one, because of fucking Ozzy. Hes almost as bad as that hummingbird.
Listen joystiq, we know you need money, but shoving the SAME ad at us every 10 seconds is not going to help. Furthermore, if your gonna do that, at least make it work, not cripple your site. now your just sustituting functionality for advertisments. For shame.
Kevlar @ Nov 28th 2008 4:14PM
What advertisments?
I don't see any ... oh. Right.
Nevermind then.
(*cough https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865 *)
Ihavepants @ Nov 28th 2008 4:43PM
Yeh Kevlar, blocking ads that shouldn't be there is not a solution.
BananaBoat @ Nov 28th 2008 5:08PM
Yeah, screw Joystiq and their ad-driven revenue stream that keeps the site open and viable.
/end sarcasm
Ordeith @ Nov 29th 2008 3:20AM
And in irony.
I got Ozzy when I voted you up. Click on +1, get lame ad.
Thanks to Joystiq I no longer buy HP computers, Samsung phones or shop at Best Buy.
Any other companies wanna ues an annoying ad to drive away my busines?
Haggard @ Nov 29th 2008 6:20AM
There's a difference between advertisements which are necessary to keep the site viewable, and advertisements which MAKE the site unviewable.
baby sea tuna @ Nov 28th 2008 3:53PM
20 bucks is not exactly chump change. This DLC better be pretty fucking amazing!
Markez @ Nov 28th 2008 5:59PM
I'm a chump, I'll buy it. And c'mon, it's essentially gonna be more of the same, you know it, and I know it.
craig64 @ Nov 28th 2008 3:54PM
I guess this is about the same as just having to go out to Gamestop and buy some points card, isn't it? You just wont get any of those dastardly extra points that never go away!
I'm waiting for reviews anyways.
Sam @ Nov 28th 2008 3:54PM
but DLC is meant to kill off GameStop! this is so confusing...
*head-asplode in 3...2...1...*
Jacksons @ Nov 28th 2008 4:31PM
No way, $20 DLC? I can't believe that until I see it. That can buy a platinum/greatest hits game.
Lee @ Nov 28th 2008 4:35PM
God fucking hell how is this going to translate to Yurpeon money.
Hopefully that $20 includes some item or book or something and that it will be cheaper direct from the Live shop place.
Curtis @ Nov 28th 2008 4:37PM
It really better not be 20$ online to download it. That would just be awful.
Travis @ Nov 28th 2008 4:43PM
20 bucks is fine...as long as it's good!
Aaron @ Nov 28th 2008 4:48PM
For $20.00, there better be at least as much new content as 1/3 of the original game.
Jakka ( The Order of Haters of Balance) @ Nov 28th 2008 5:11PM
$20...more than TF2...more than Portal...more than Orange Box after some Ebay hunting...more than Audiosurf...
meh...
Viridium @ Nov 28th 2008 5:47PM
Orange Box is actually selling for $19.99 up here in Canada (or $18.93 if you find it at Walmart).
sonic the plumber @ Nov 28th 2008 5:32PM
Considering it will be 10 months since launch when this drops in February, I wouldn't expect this to be a bare bones DLC. If they did that, then they're a bunch of cheap charlatans. I can't see that being the case. Too much face to lose of they did that.
shamon @ Nov 28th 2008 5:57PM
thats cool i well buy this from the store .
Snowblind @ Nov 28th 2008 6:35PM
$20 is totally reasonable for an expansion, it's adding new vehicles, weapons and missions. Assuming it's up to the same quality as GTA IV was, it'll be well worth the money.
And I've been fairly anti-GTA IV since it was released..
Talleh @ Nov 28th 2008 7:28PM
Oh yea, I'm looking forward to forgoing everything that DLC offers versus retail like the comfort of not leaving my home, the easy of purchase, no need to deal with a snarky clerk, and FOR POSTERS?!?!?!
I'll take five.
Jayslacks @ Nov 28th 2008 9:37PM
Does anyone give a FUCK about this game still?
Lee @ Nov 29th 2008 7:23AM
Lez me guezz, you have the gimped PS3 version?
tmacairjordan87 @ Nov 29th 2008 10:59AM
It depends. If they're adding all the awesome fun stuff they left out from SA then I'll actually go out and rebuy 4 and buy the dlc. But if they don't, then I'll be more than happy to forget about GTA 4 forever.
Extinction @ Nov 29th 2008 6:22PM
Um, the PS3 version was superior. Better framerate, draw distance, anti-aliasing, shadows, more on screen pedestrians/vehicles, better controller, free online multiplayer, and a system that can survive extended play times without worry
ChiTownRuler23 @ Nov 28th 2008 10:21PM
20 fuckin bucks? is that how much it will cost on XBLMP? thats steep for DLC dont you think? but ill probaly pay w/e the price is since i got the CE but i use the lock box and the bag every day
Ghostbuddy @ Nov 28th 2008 11:43PM
20$ for this DLC, and let me guess, 20$ for the next batch of DLC? 40$ for the entire thing?
There PR department better be holding some serious punches. And they better deliver a lot more then I expected.
They better add a lot more in the way of weapons, vehicles, multiplayer gametypes and activities then I expected.
Seriously 40$ is a LOT for DLC for a year old game. This is going to be a tough sell. Rockstar better go all out, or this is going to be a bust.
Would be nice if they added Staten Island, and the rest of Jersey city as well.
ishaan55 @ Nov 29th 2008 3:39AM
gta 4 is gonna launch in India for US$10
For info:
Ishaan211991@gmail.com
tmacairjordan87 @ Nov 29th 2008 10:57AM
For $20 I better be getting everything they took out of san andreas. I'm going to be really pissed off if they're charging $20 just for more story/cutscenes/chase missions. No one should give a shit about a story in a GTA game, specially if it's at the cost of FUN.
ToRo @ Nov 29th 2008 12:26PM
@Kevlar
I have adblock plus on firefox and instead of seeing ozzy fill up the screen I a big black nothing fill up the screen. It's really annoying and it's been going on for almost 2 weeks now. I had to use IE tab to write this comment.
Brazell @ Nov 29th 2008 5:51PM
I'll be getting this, though I was disapointed by GTAIV.
