Not long ago, we spent a little time talking about the games you were looking forward to next year. Today, we want to do the opposite. What upcoming hyped game just doesn't do it for you? Are you so over The Conduit? Could you possible care any less about anything to do with Punch-Out!!? If you're ho-hum over anything, we want to know about it.

I don't know, have Ubisoft released their 2009 schedule yet?

As much as I'm looking forward to the new Punch-Out, I'm ever so slightly cynical of it. Nintendo may have received big kudos from the fans for reviving a classic, beloved Nintendo franchise. But I think it's no coincidence that it's one that they can easily link to Wii Sports and market to the Wii Sports crowd.
I'm certainly pumped for The Conduit and hope it's really good, but I can't help but feel that we may be in for a big disappointment and were this game on any other console it would be no big deal whatsoever.
I also think Wii Sports Resort is pushing it a bit. Going from the likes of Tennis, Golf, Bowling, etc. to such popular and well-known sports and Disc Dog (?!) and Beach Sword Fighting (?!?!) suggests that they wanted to make some money with a Wii Sports sequel, but didn't actually have any sports left to put in it.

Judging from this and past remarks it looks like Hamster doesn't understand how to have fun. Your Wii Sports apathy is long past tedious. Shadow has already broken down the virtues of the game, a game which will be one of the greatest of 2009 for sure. So stop acting in such a state of constant disappointment.

Beach sword fighting is all the rage now...
...like a few days ago at the beach, I saw an old man beating down a kid with a wooden sword...
...and people chopping giant pencils with katanas...
Yep... SO the rage.
...other than that, the activities in WSR is kinda' odd (to say the least), but it's gonna' be awesome to do some GOOD Wii sword fighting (that's motion-controlled) after waiting for how long. X_X
:D That's really all I'm looking forward to.

Sin and Punishment 2. I kept hearing that Sin and Punishment was such a great game, but when I finally gave it a go, I got about 30 minutes into it before putting it down out of boredom.

Heh, I didn't think S&P was boring, but it wasn't "TEH BERST GAME EVAR". Just...Hm, that was pretty cool. I beat it on Easy once and stopped there, so no S&P2 for me.

Hmm... I don't like shooters, so no Conduit or Sin & Punishment 2... I never really found Punch-Out!! exciting, so that's out... and Madworld only has half my interest, looks more like a gorefest than anything else to me, though I'm giving that one a chance...
Yeah, almost all the hyped games for next year just don't do it for me. Praytell Pikmin 4 comes out at least? I mean, I'm doubting the new Mario or Zelda will be ready...

madworld is definately underwhelming. there's a reason they're not showing us much real gameplay

I hate standing up for a Wii Sports sequel, but Resort is meant as a series of beach games and, well, it was hard for them to think up many good beach sports (I assume it will probably have volleyball). I'm sure there is plenty of sports they COULD do, but most of the minigames are meant to show off the capabilities of WiiMotionPlus, which most sports that come to mine wouldn't really benefit from the accessory. Still, fencing does sound nice with this (though I'd trade it for real sword fighting anyday; tried fencing once and hated using the epee or whatever, but I've used swords so often in martial arts). But I wouldn't pay $50 for a sword fighting minigame... might get it just for WiiMotionPlus, though...

they are banking that you just buy it for the motionplus....

House of the Dead: Overkill, quite honestly. Not that i wouldn't buy it and have fun with it, but it hasn't captured my imagination like the other Wii 09 shooters

Make another vote for Overkill. I don't care much about FPS's, but if I buy one, it'll be The Conduit.

I don't know if there's a single thing coming out for the Wii that I'm really, truly excited about.
But I really have no room to complain. Smash Brothers remains awesome. Super Mario Galaxy remains awesome. I've still got two episodes of SBCG4AP to catch up on. Sam & Max Season One sits on my shelf, waiting for me to finish National Novel Writing Month.
Comes down to it, I'd rather have great games in my home than great games to look forward to later.

MadWorld looks boring, and the graphics look unclear.
Which is too bad. Because I do believe that mature games can be a real art. And the number of hardcore action games has been pretty limited on the Wii. But this looks like a really repetitive and dull game, when you get down to the gameplay.
But I really really really want them to prove me wrong.

There is nothing in 2009 that make me excited, my kind of games are Action/Adventure games, and there is nothing like that coming in 2009 (at least nothing that have been announced yet) :S

Sin n' Punishment 2 not developed by Treasure?! GROAN-TASTIC!

I'm excited for ALMOST everything in 2009. the only game I'm not excited for is PUNCH-OUT!! since I'm not really a fan of boxing games. BUT like i always say don't judge a book by it's cover (or screen shots) because you might just end up swallowing your words! and i know that from PERSONAL experience! so with that said i'll give PUNCH-OUT!! a try and see how it goes.

I'm excited about most of it.
I'll end up getting Wii Sports Resort for the Motion+ and as another game to play with my friends, but the only other game I'm meh about is Monster Hunter 3.

i guess if the wii was getting a bunch of brown & gray first person shooters and open world sandbox style games. then everyone would be happy right? because the videogame industry needs more games like that right?

...Nothing on the Wii that's been announced for '09 holds my interest. The Conduit looks kinda generic, but I might try it for the controls. Punch-Out was a decent game, but the new one doesn't get any rwaction from me other than "Oh." When nintendo announces their next Mario, Zelda, or Star Fox game, then I'll be excited!

i hate gamers like you. gamers bitch and moan about how nintendo doesn't create any new original ip's anymore. but then, (the gamers) they'll turn around an say, "hey nintendo! where's my new super mario brothers and the legend of zelda game!"
everyone loves to play follow the leader when it comes to the nintendo wii console. it's played out already.

I'm planning on getting the Wii Sports Pak II (least that's what I call it). I don't know if it's occurred to anyone else, but I'm mildly curious as to what else is on it. The thing's reported to have about 10 games on it but so far I've (along with everyone else) only heard of 3: Fido, Waverunner, Swordplay.
I don't know if it's odd of me or not, but the other game I'm kinda thinking about getting is that new Mushroom Men game.

How about a sequel to Okami? That would be nice. I doubt that it will be out in 2009, but the sequel to no more heroes could be awesome as well.

I have alot of respect for this game but just not planning on buying it on day 1 - Punch-Out - It looks cool but I just could not care as much about it as I do about the conduit - I have been eagerly waiting a game like the conduit for a while now and it looks like all the stops are coming out for the conduit...
Posted: Dec 1st 2008 12:09AM (Unverified) said
The conduit. A good game, but not my type of game. The genre is just so overdone. Oddly, I liked Red Steel due to its sword fighting. At times I break from conventional wisdom and base my purchases off my own viewpoints.

Though I'm getting it... The Conduit.
...I mean... ^^;; I already have a 360, I'm kinda' dead-tired of this genre of shooting aliens and mutants, unless it's truly original (or just a sequel of a good game... becuz I like more options).
The Conduit just isn't that... exciting lookin'.
I'm just gettin' it cuz it looks like a competent FPS for the Wii. And other than on-rail shooters, the Wii doesn't have much to offer for multiplayer FPS gameplay. (of which is awesomely fun)
