Users have been sending us tips and Xbox.com confirms that some Xbox Live members are experiencing technical issues with the service -- specifically with signing in. According to the Xbox.com Support page, Microsoft is aware of the issue and is working to resolve the problem. They also thank gamers for their patience and understanding but something tells us those thanks will fall on deaf ears. X3F will keep you updated as more information is released. Until then, go check out our Holiday Game and Rating Guide and get those wish lists ready for Santa. Or, get out the pitchforks. That works too, we guess.
[Update: According to Major Nelson's Twitter, Xbox Live should be functioning normally at this time. However, Xbox.com now appears to be experiencing some problems. Is Xbox Live working for you?]
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

Everything you said was true but unfortunately Xbox fanboys are too loyal to MS so they voted your comment down. When your giving your money to a company you have the right to question them and complain about the things they're doing wrong. This loyalty is probably why MS hasn't bothered to make XBL free or find a permanent solution to the RROD.

I have been able to sign in fine, today and for the past little while, so I don't know if this is just a US thing or what but I'm up here in Canada and everything seems to be working fine.

I'm up in Canuckistan and I can't get on Live or on xbox.com.
Maybe it's a regional thing? I'm in Ontario, maybe it's only on the East side?

Looks like I'm not the only one. After getting signed out while playing a game I decided to try out xbox.com and that doesn't work either. Maybe we'll get another XBLA game if this keeps up!

This happened to me about an hour ago, I was watching a netflix moving on my 360. I am not impressed that the service is down, I am impressed that my video kept streaming, however I couldn't stream another while offline (as expected).

Goddamnit this pisses me off. 39.95 for 12 months of a service used by millions of people worldwide.. microsoft gaming division is FINALLY making a profit.. why can't they just GET THEIR SHIT TOGETHER???
I mean come on. Lots of people off from work = lots of people playing xbox at home. It doesn't take a rocket scientist.

Look at WoW, similar numbers in terms of people... but guess what? They are down every Tuesday morning. Yet, they still are insanely popular.
It is basically impossible to have 100% uptime, and by my judgment... 99% (probably about 24 hours a year) isn't that bad. :P

Why does everyone bitch about this so much. It is electronics and we all know that things happen. Give them the opportunity to get it corrected. If it takes longer than 3-5 hrs, then start the complaining. It seems that reading this stuff is worse than hearing my wife complain!! Suck it up and deal with it for a while.

I have a select few hours MAYBE a few days a week to play with good friends that I don't see otherwise.
I know A) the cost per month is minimal and B) the service is quite a good service and beats the PS3 online leaps and bounds.
But don't you DARE tell me that we don't get to complain about it.
If you don't want to hear it, go to another page, ignore these posts entirely. And on the upside, like your wife, we won't let you have sex with us tonight, either!

Am I allowed to complain? It took 2 weeks for MS to get me a working Repair Order Number. Once I finally got the coffin (since they were UNABLE to email me a shipping label), it took 2 days for me to get the console back to the depot.
It's been at the repair depot for SEVEN days, and I just got an automated email that "we have not received your console".
MS need to get their shit together. I purchased a Service Contract with them because it make it sound like things would go so much easier, and it's now 25 days since my console ringed and they don't even appear to know where the F*CK it is.

My comment was not to complain. But rather, to give them the chance to fix the problem. Shit happens. But I know you are absolutely perfect at everything you do and have never had an issue.
In that case, Tell me what you do cause I really need to buy stock in your company cause you can compete with Microsoft and are their direct competition. Also you have your own console that will launch next week and you will be able to support several million users.

Kane, if the service was for free, then I would see less reason to complain. However, since Microsoft feels inclined to charge us for peer-to-peer service, I say we have a right to complain. Xbox Live does not even have great service - as there is one friend who I am not able to connect. We both can connect to other players, but not each other. I say that since I pay for this service, I have a right to complain when it faults. I am not perfect, neither is Microsoft, but if they charge I expect excellent service.

Got knocked off a few hours ago. Want to know what I said? "eh, I'll try again later"
I'm an avid videogamer, owned an Xbox before Live even went up. Rarely does it fail on me, and when it does, it's excused.
Don't get me wrong, I don't like it's down. I have an incredibly busy schedule and any time I get to play is out of pure luck of free time, but still, glitches occur, and with such a great service, let Microsoft thank the gamers for being patient and understanding (and actually mean it!)

I know, right?
As I said to you in my email, this made me want to throttle a kitten:
"Microsoft Canada offers Gears of War 2 Limited Edition customers the chance to request an English Hard Cover Art book"
and
"We are aware that Canadian Gears of War 2 Limited Edition consumers may be interested in receiving a hard cover English language art book."
Offers a CHANCE?!?!!? A CHANCE?? You screw up, you put the wrong book in and instead of saying "We're sorry, really we are. We made a mistake, all you have to do is go here and we'll fix it" you make it seems like you're doing us a service by giving us what we should have gotten in the first place.
This is one of those situations where it wasn't a HUGE deal to start, but now that we're supposed to feel gratitude to Microsoft for giving this to us? Grr.
Stupidy heads >.

I lost my connection in the middle of a game earlier, and I couldn't get on xbox.com, either. It all seems to be working fine now. I love the way some of you people go right into psycho mode at the first sign if trouble. You know, they have medication for that. For the amount of traffic on microsoft's servers, there are going to be issues from time to time. There are people out there with real problems.

Working fine for me. Just finished getting my ass handed to me attempting to complete Expert mode in left 4 dead with a few buddies. (It'd help if they didn't use the shotty... or were a bit more careful with it, FF does a lot more damage in expert and the shotty has quite the spread)

Good for you. I've got it worse. That happened to me for the third time (I've never had RROD, only E74) a day after my warranty ran out, which is actually the second time it has E74'd out of warranty (the first time I just brought an Elite).
What makes it worse is my brand new purchased Elite (the one that's recently broken) had the serial registered with Xbox one day before me purchasing it out of Gamestation, so I have to buy a new console as I cannot prove it's mine.
You could have it so much worse.

Heh. You guys report on this, but completely ignore the thousands (tens of thousands?)of users who have no sound because NXE now confuses HDMI with DVI and won't port the sound:
http://forums.xbox.com/5/24128031/ShowPost.aspx#24128031
I asked you guys a week ago to report on this, and you ignored it. Wednesday will mark 14 days of us HDMI users having no sound with ZERO response from Microsoft. How about you cut us a break and make this a newsworthy item?
