Cowen Group analyst Doug Creutz knows the public and, according to him, they want Guitar Hero: World Tour. Even though the guitar bundle for the game has been discounted like crazy over the last week (and selling just as crazy, we assume), he says that most folks are looking for the full band kit, which is difficult to find on store shelves.
"Supply of the full band kit version at all retail locations was very tight, with the title selling out quickly," Creutz said, even pointing to online resellers who continue to resell the full band kit SKU for ridiculous sums of money. "This picture of high demand and tight supply remains consistent with our previous channel checks."
If these supplies were higher, Activision would be making a lot more money off the title. As it is, however, the company must mostly rely on sales of the game itself and the other guitar bundle SKU.

I bought the full band game at Walmart the midnight when it came out; there were a couple others there and we had to flag down one of the employees. After 10 minutes or so, she brought out my Wii band kit, but told the others, who came for the 360 band kit, that there were none. I'm convinced that either Activision is incompetent, or Walmart is full of shit--no full band kits on the day of release, really?
RB2 seems to be in decent supply, and I didn't notice this much of a shortage with RB1 last year. GH has the name recognition, I guess, but something still seems fishy.

Too bad supplies will skyrocket this week after everyone returns their copies due to broken guitars and drums. I went through three different returns before finally convincing best buy to just give me my money back.
GH:WT = RB1 disaster with broken instruments, minus one major difference: RB1 makers shipped you a replacement and let you send yours back at no charge, GH:WT makers require you to pay for shipping both ways (~$20) and then wait a MONTH for them to "fix" it.
I was really pumped to finally get a music genre game, and had heard so much about GH. I was nothing but disappointed that out of the box the instruments were broken.
Anyway, just my 2 cents ;)

I kinda think it all depends on where you live. I went home to a small town for Thanksgiving and they were all gone. But when I came back to a Target in Denver, they had a bunch.
