Don't mess with this guy, he built a real Lancer

When it comes to homemade homages to video games, there are generally two spectra under which they fall. There are the cool ones, and then there are the scary cool ones. We're fairly certain this falls under the latter category, as the man you see above has crafted a very real, functioning Lancer (also known as "the chainsaw gun" from Gears of War). It shoots real bullets, it has a real chainsaw bayonet. The creator, known only as SOC, apparently intended the creation as an "Anti Zombie Device," so we don't really know whether or not the homage to Gears of War was intentional. What we do know is that we're staying very, very far away from this man's yard. See a video of the weapon in action after the break (warning: several pumpkins are harmed).

I'd like to see how the pro-gun lobby supports this one. "Uh... it's for when you're sawing down trees in the deep woods and a bear attacks. Yeah, that's the ticket!"

What this guy has done is 100% legal, so deal with it. I admire what he has put together there, while impractical for the most part, it's cool none-the-less. Go read some history books about the founding fathers and the 2nd amendment before you make stupid comments like that. If you so naively think that the government will always do good and will always protect you, think again.
And no, I'm not some nut job sitting in the woods, I've just read my history. That, and the 2nd amendment is a hot button issue for me.

@oly884-
Dude, I was joking. This is the type of over-the-top response that gets anti-gun people so excited. I have no agenda one way or the other. If you want to own a gun, you certainly have the right to. Apparently the 2nd amendment is a SERIOUS hot button issue for you, because my comment said nothing about it.
The important thing is that we have the 1st amendment which allows us both to attack each other senselessly on the internet:) Sorry to have gotten your ire up.

The second amendment says that you have the right to own a gun, but what I don't get is how crazy the pro gun lobby in the states is? Here in Canada we have more guns per capita than the states, but far lower levels of gun violence strictly because we put some limitations on our guns rights. The NRA deserves to killed by misfiring guns.
And yes that gun in the video is kickass.

Penguin, you are out of touch with our gun issues. We have a population of 300 million to your 30 million. Per capita is not an issue - we have 10 times your population. Also, the NRA has nothing to do with the gun problems. Just because they support gun rights, it does not follow they place guns in the criminal's hands.
I know Canadians love to act like they are better than us when it comes to gun issues, but this is an apples to oranges situation.

You don't need the 1st amendment to be an asshole on the internet. I've seen assholes from all countries.
Guns are for pussies anyway. I wish there were only swords and spears and shit, like in middle ages.

I certainly do not feel safe about humanity's survival if this is the guy who will be protecting us from the Locust.

I'm glad to see someone finally did it. I just wonder how long the saw will run before it's outta juice.

Isn't there a David Bowie song about being afraid of Americans? That's how I'm feeling right now. Please don't put him on the front lines with that thing.
You should be scared, we kick ass.
Try and invade us. You will get chainsawed by this Jackass. hahahahaha

They should put that thing on Future Weapons...It'd be hilarious seeing them be serious about the possible practical applications of a chainsaw on a gun.
"It's like a Bayonet, but a chainsaw. Messier. Louder. Attracts more attention. Also; looks badass."
That's pretty awesome.

That kinda sums up the life.
You spend you time trying to look tough and cool while your bitch of a wife laughs her ass off in the background as you, in reality, act like an overgrown child.
God bless this man, and all idiots like him (I include myself as one of the idiots).

as an anti zombie weapon its the dumbest idea ever. We all know if a zombies blood gets in contact with yours, you become infected. Good luck chainsawing a zombie 2 feet in front of you with his blood splattering all over your body and you not becoming infected.

while the idea isn't perfect, i'm just happy to know that some people out there are taking the idea of an up-and-coming zombie end-of-days scenario as seriously as we all should. those zombie bastards will stop at nothing to devour our flesh, and good ol' boys like that man are truly laying the groundwork for a proper defense strategy at a personal level. i commend him for his actions, and urge others to consider alternate means of zombie obliteration. its' our job as members of the human race to gather together and fend of these souless fiends (once they should appear in 2012).

Seriously how is that man still alive...I thought he was gonna trip pull a plaxico and shoot himself while he stumbled/ran missing every target, then while he flailed that thing around I was sure that one of his legs was goin down. Kudos for wanting to protect us from the zombies but please give the weapon to a more qualified person

Seriously impractical, but all in good fun. I loved Gears of war but chainsaws on a gun, lol. If you could shoot while being cut, then the saws would be a "suicidal tactic" or no more bullets. Stick to knives and bayonets, but i guess those would be ineffective against the locusts. Seriously that guy looked like he was gonna chop himself off at the ankles, lol...
