Galaga Legions team wants another shot
If you remix something once, you're edgy, willing to let two styles careen into each other and just ride the resulting wave to cash and fame. If you remix something twice? Well, that's just a bit too much for our conservative Baptist upbringing, unless you've got mad, Puff Daddy (P. Diddy?)-level skills ... or you work for Namco Bandai, apparently. The same team that crafted a bold, fresh take on Galaga this year with Galaga Legions says it's itching to take yet another bolder, fresher look at the franchise.
As producer Nobutaka Nakajima told Gamasutra, "Because there are so many different ways of taking the Galaga franchise and many different aspects that could be created into the core fundamentals of the game, we do want to look at Galaga again." Sounds great, but could you maybe remix a few other classic franchises before you get into a rut with one? Hint, hint.

Low G Man? Really? I mean I used to love that game, but it was no Shatterhand.

I thought I was only person on earth who played that game. Low G Man was an abomination, so friggin hard! AAAAAHHHHHH!

Seeing this picture reminds me of a wonderful period when I actually had time to play all the XBLA games sitting on my hard drive. Sigh, days gone by...

It's going 3D.
I'd bet my hamster on it.*

GL would have been huge if it were released, say, a year earlier than it was. There is just too much good stuff for the 360 now - not necessarily a bad thing for gamers, but it's rough on developers releasing XBLA games now. Unless it's a title with a massive amount of hype (Castle Crashers, SF2 Turbo HD, Penny Arcade), it's going to be a hard sell for 360 owners.
I didn't purchase it, but it's one I would definitely pick up if they ran a sale on it.

I don't know about that, I still buy some of lesser known/hyped XBLA games. If I just want something for a couple of evenings that's enjoyable, but not as involved as a major game, I go searching through Arcade. Within the last month, my wife and I have gone through Elements of Destruction and Feeding Frenzy 2 just to have something different to mess around with.

I should've waited a little before buying Galaga Legions. I was still on Geometry Wars 2, but I was so hyped that it was from the same guys who did Pac-Man CE that I just couldn't wait. The result was a 1h sitting and another game lying around my HD waiting for a second chance.

Last I heard it's just "Diddy" now. The P was coming in between him and his fans.

I didn't like Galaga Legions, unlike Pac-Man CE. That changed the game, but kept the core graphics and sounds, while adding a new modern look. Galaga Legions went too far. It's a mess of a game that has more in common with Geometry Wars than Galaga.
