The results of the first-ever Xbox 360 Hispanic Holiday Entertainment Survey are in! And wouldn't you know, Xbox 360 is the perfect fit for the Hispanic persuasion¹. Did you know:

More Hispanics want a gift that brings their family together (89% vs. 64% of general population)
More Hispanics are looking for gifts that people can enjoy throughout the year (95% vs. 85% of general population)
More Hispanics are looking for affordable ways to entertain their family over the holidays (85% vs. 81% of general population)
Many more Hispanics would rather buy one gift for their whole family than spend money on lots of individual gifts (83 % vs. 52% of general population)
Lips en Español features 17 songs in Spanish by artists such as Alejandro Sanz, Belanova, Fanny Lu, La Factoria, Luis Miguel, Pimpinela and Selena (42.5% less songs than the all-English version!)

I feel the same way, kinda funny at first but then after awhile.. its kinda messed up.

I found this one more offensive then the rest.

Like okay I mean maybe the ones they interviewed had freakin 7-8 siblings but for a small family I rather get individual gifts. Not all Hispanic families are huge and cheap. Maybe Im being just sensitive but theres no reason to do a survery for a single nationality as compared to just everyone in general.

I want to be offended. But...its like a George Lopez joke. Its sounds so ridiculous but its true.. So I'm gonna have to laugh on this one. I'm surprised the survey didn't end with the Christmas tamale joke.

For the benefit to those who haven't heard it:

Q:Why do Mexican have tamales for Christmas?

A: So we can have something to unwrap!

The truth of the matter is, marketing companies do surveys like this to market to certain demographics. Many successful stores profile their customers, not only by ethnicity, but by gender, dress, how quickly you move through the store, what you're looking at etc.

It would be irresponsible for a store to not profile their customer base and try to market to each base.

@Danny F. - You are correct, the conclusions drawn from this survey do not apply to ALL Hispanics, merely 83%-95%.

I think too often people mistake acknowledging the differences between ethnic and socio-economic groups for racism.

but the problem with stats & surveys is that they usually are not going to be useful in real life.

if you goto 1 area and survey 500 people, you are only using that demographic, which doesnt apply to other areas.
if you survey people online on a website, then you are only using that demographic.
those 500 people were going to that website for a reason.

we are not all the same, these surveys and stats are worthless.

Oh wow Cj, my fault. I havent been watching TV aside from going to a friends house (sports). Other than that its work, home, World of Warcraft/internet OR Console/internet. I get my weather, news, etc. off the PC. Only bill i pay cable wise now is Internet, since i find i dont really watch TV... at all. So i dont get to enjoy the stereotypical commercials/ programs.

Umm. They're a minority, so when you compare Hispanics to the rest of the population wouldn't they be higher in everything? The only thing survey that wouldn't shift towards them is a survey of who is white, black, asian, or hispanic. What a dumb survey.
