Im Puerto Rican and though i see the "wrongness" in this survey... I'll laugh about it and move on. Its all very silly and not worth it. Things are too PC anyway for my liking. Hell, I don't even think Blazing Saddles would pass the PC police these days.

Okay so it was an honest question you were asking.

People aren't being offended by the word hispanic. They're offended at the what the survey found. Which were stereotypical results. The problem people are having is that the pool size of the those survey is really small. But most of us/them are just laughing at the survey and ignoring it. Its not really a big deal.

It'd be like if I did a survey and found out black people enjoy fried chicken, rap, and whatever other stereotype you can fill in.

This isn't the first time Microsoft targets the latinos to get their dollars, they did have a game about piñatas a couple years ago. Except the cute was gone when the piñatas ate each other.

Is it possible that he didn't mean his comment to the extent that some have taken it? Everyone seems to be making mexican jokes now.

I'm not saying it was in bad taste but a quick glance (2pages) at his post history and he seems normally level headed. Perhaps clarification or the benefit of the doubt would have been more appropriate.

Ipsos, hey I take surveys on their site! Almost have enough points to cash in for a gift certificate at Amazon. It's a great, easy thing to do between classes for a few minutes each day. As for the race thing, well I'm mostly Hispanic but I've also got Caucasian heritage as well. Trying to profile me is pretty tough. Basically, I'm simply American. :)

I think the whole thing is pretty funny. The whole joke is really on microsoft for thinking they know about hispanics from some Ipsos survey. As we can see, the conclusion from hispanics (including myself) is that MS doesn't know jack shit, and has spent perfectly good money to come up with a bullshit answer. So Lips has spanish tracks? great! but that doesn't mean the 360 is perfectly made for such a diverse population unified only through brutal spanish colonialism. It's not racist, It's not even stereotypical, it's downright laughable!
