Readers pick best webcomic: Theft of the Magi
... Wow, that was close. The last time we checked on the webcomic wrapup, XKCD's Theft of the Magi and CAD's Crossover were tied with 145 votes apiece. We decided to be somewhat Vice Presidential and cast the deciding vote ... to XKCD. Cheer up, CAD, you still got second place, and your prize is just as big as first place's (read: nada). Laughing about the race in third place is Red, the Color of Seduction (Indoor Heroes), who beat out The Truth is the New Lie (Penny Arcade) also by one vote. Thanks to everyone who voted (see? your vote counts) and be sure to let us know of any game-related webcomics you stumble up on this week!

Yayyyyy! First!!!

Congratz! You win the grand prize! Incidentally, its the same prize that XKCD won for their winning comic. Enjoy!
LocalToast @ Dec 3rd 2008 11:42PM
I like xkcd and all, but I really didn't think it was that funny...
Sean @ Dec 3rd 2008 11:59PM
People still read CAD?
Negativecool @ Dec 4th 2008 1:04AM
Apparently a measly 145 thought it was alright, compared to XKCD's face melting 146.
Anticrawl @ Dec 4th 2008 8:37AM
Haha, +1 Negativecool. I hate how it is cool to hate CAD, the man is charming and creative, no sense going out of your way to insult the comic. If you don't like it don't read it.
You guys should check out http://www.8bitfix.com though, run by Joystiqers and we had a live stream of Prince of Persia for about 10 hours last night answering questions about the game and whatnot.
Sean @ Dec 4th 2008 11:27AM
I don't "hate CAD because it is cool to."
I don't like CAD because it is funny less than once in a blue moon, I'd rather waste my time doing something productive like repainting the sidewalk.
j.howlett @ Dec 4th 2008 12:00AM
+1 for the tie breaker
Lemmiwinks @ Dec 4th 2008 12:11AM
I must still be getting old.
MNC Dover @ Dec 4th 2008 12:31AM
Woot! 8th place! Boo-yaw!
Our comic this week is partially game related, so I'll go ahead and post it. Never know, maybe it'll show up.

I voted for you guys.. though it was a pretty slow comic week..
This one is kinda cool though :)
Courtney @ Dec 4th 2008 1:30AM
I also voted for you guys, thought it was more timely than many of the others.
El Verde @ Dec 4th 2008 9:12AM
That is a pretty good one. I almost skipped the last panel though. (Thought it was an ad banner.)
I assume it's "based on actual events?"
MNC Dover @ Dec 4th 2008 10:14AM
@Lxg - Thanks for the vote. We're hard at work trying to make a Cooking Mama: Thanksgiving Day Massacre movie see the light of day. :)
@Courtney - I was actually amazed we got that one out in time. Because of actual jobs in real life, we end up having to script our comics a week or two ahead of time. The PETA headline was too good to pass up though.
@El Verde - Yeah, it's unfortunately real. I worked at a gaming retail store for 7 years and had to deal with Black Friday each year. I so wanted nothing more than to jump into the crowd with a bayonet. After we finished that comic we realized that we should have had an interview at the beginning to set up the text at the end. Oh well. Thanks for the nice comment.

Get the fuck outta here you damn spammer.
Roto13 @ Dec 4th 2008 1:43AM
XKCD for great justice.
I subscribe to like 80 webcomics. I should really start sending in nominations.
MNC Dover @ Dec 4th 2008 10:15AM
XKCD is awesome, although a few of the more technical programming stuff goes over my head sometimes. But the jokes are written so well that it usually doesn't matter.
So...are we one of the 80 by chance? :)
Roto13 @ Dec 4th 2008 11:04AM
Monday Night Crew? Yup, you're one of my many, many RSS feeds. :P
Haggard @ Dec 4th 2008 2:52AM
Robot Martini was ftw
EBH @ Dec 4th 2008 4:09PM
Couldn't the XKCD one have been "Hey I sold your Roomba on Craigslist so that I could buy myself (Insert any game here)"
This Prince of Persia one is kinda bawdy but I like it

Beat PA by a single vote? Hooray! I'm so glad Tycho and Gabe don't vote for their own strip and that I did.
Anyway here's a Gears 2 comic. Spoilarz warning.

Dear Pirate is throwing its hat in the ring for this week. And as an added bonus, this time it even has a joke in it!
