Tekken 6 punching PS3, Xbox 360 in Fall '09
Tekken 6, the latest in Namco Bandai's seminal fighting series, will be delivering a body blow to consoles next fall. Oh wait, you say, we already knew that. True, Microsoft confirmed last October that in Fall 2009 Feng Wei, Devil Jin and the rest would strike the Xbox 360 across the face. In addition, CVG reports that the game will get an equal bout on the PlayStation 3 at the same time.
The announcement was made during a recent event put on by Atari, which will publish the title in Europe on both platforms, adding yet another marquee feather in the once-struggling company's hat. Next year is shaping up to be a memorable one for fighting game fans with Street Fighter IV and Tekken 6 going toe-to-toe. So tell us, where do you place your bets?

TEKKEN who cares about tekken (well some people do but if I said that then it would make my opnion invalid and I don't like invalidness) Where is my Street Fighter 4!!!!!
ryan @ Dec 3rd 2008 10:48AM
Thou shalt not talk smack against the almighty Tekken!
Lord Negatron @ Dec 3rd 2008 11:25AM
Agreed.
TEKKEN: Not played since Feb. 30, 2007. I prefer other fighters than this. When will they get it? Lengthy SoulCaliber-like combos do not make the game interesting. SF for teh win.
Only for the fans...
aristokrat @ Dec 3rd 2008 12:26PM
Dude, what magical video game land are you playing games in? I'd play Tekken all the time if it would allow me an extra day every month!

Thou shalt not be forgiven for typos either! The almighty Tekken has spoken.

Thanks for the link! I had been wondering what I could do to make fighting games on the 360 suck less for a reasonable amount of money.
xFenixKnightx @ Dec 3rd 2008 11:17AM
Yeah I like the arcade sticks but i dont like the price. A nice pad like this should do the trick, and the d-pad can only get better. The fact that they look sick is a bonus :)
RiccochetJ @ Dec 3rd 2008 11:50AM
Does anyone know if these are PSN/Live Arcade games or are they going to be the $60 disc variety?
RiccochetJ @ Dec 3rd 2008 11:54AM
... Interesting, I didn't hit the reply button the first time. Although I do like those control pads, may have to pick one up!
xFenixKnightx @ Dec 3rd 2008 12:06PM
$60.00 disc games.

Wait...when did the publishers change to Atari? I thought Namco Bandai publishes Tekken.

green11420 @ Dec 3rd 2008 11:05AM
My allegiance is with TEKKEN. I have owned every Tekken game (except Tekken 4) and it is one of my favorite game franchises.
I have both a 360 and PS3, so I'm definitely getting this for PlayStation!

Uh no Sony never made Tekken. Its from NAMCO. Thats why Yoshimitsu was in the Soul Caliber series as well. It was a playstation exclusive for a while but that time has passed.

HAH for PojoMojo... Tekken is Sonys... yeah right.
HOWEVER, Tekken still remains a Playstation Exclusive. The Soul Blade series has always been a bit of a woman around town. And since Tekken 6 remains only announced on PS3, why do you feel that time is passed?
BECAUSE TIME HAS PASSED FOOL!

baby sea tuna @ Dec 3rd 2008 11:24AM
I was trying to remember the last time I gave a damn about a Tekken game and realized that it was Tekken 2 back on the PS1. Then I thought about the last time I got excited about a fighting game in general (maybe DOA2 on Dreamcast?). I buy them, play them a couple of times until someone pitches a fit about button mashing or move spamming and makes me shut it off. As far as I'm concerned, entire genre died along with arcades.
That said, I'd still like to check out SFIV.
butaneko @ Dec 3rd 2008 11:24AM
Tekken bowling ftw!
Maverick Saturn @ Dec 3rd 2008 11:29AM
I'd like to say bring on the Tekken, but after peeking and playing at arcades, I have lost desire to spend my hard earned cash on it unless I can somehow be convinced otherwise. I love Tekken, but nothing has changed, so I don't feel the need to replace my Tekken 5 yet.
Lee @ Dec 3rd 2008 11:38AM
I remember back when Tekken meant something.
Sinister Rouge @ Dec 3rd 2008 4:08PM
Still means "iron fist" last time I checked.
WiNG LifeInAGame.com @ Dec 3rd 2008 11:54AM
Tekken is probably the least interesting fighting franchise of all time.
Anything versus Capcom
Street Fighter
Smash Bros
Soul Calibur
Killer Instinct
Power Stone
Mortal Kombat
Virtua Fighter
Samurai Showdown
Dead or Alive
All wrestling games
.

.
Tekken
Shaq Fu
Okay, second least.
RiccochetJ @ Dec 3rd 2008 11:56AM
You think Tekken is worse than Eternal Champions?
WiNG LifeInAGame.com @ Dec 3rd 2008 12:02PM
I only counted franchises that had a real "series."
So I guess that discounts Shaq Fu. Throw in Clayfighter instead.
j.howlett @ Dec 3rd 2008 12:09PM
clay fighter was fun as hell. you know nothing
xFenixKnightx @ Dec 3rd 2008 12:14PM
"Power Stone"
*does huge belly laugh
Thats rich!
The only fighting games/franchises to *ever matter* are
Streetfighter
Mortal Kombat
Capcom VS (fill in the blank)
Tekken
Virtua Fighter
Killer Instinct
KOF
Samurai Showdown
Dead or Alive
Soul Calibur
Smash Bros
All of these have at some point been classified as AAA
Eh @ Dec 3rd 2008 12:20PM
why would a fighting game ever have to be interesting?
WiNG LifeInAGame.com @ Dec 3rd 2008 12:26PM
"All of these have at some point been classified as AAA"
You heard it folks, xFenixKnightx, official AAA rater of fighting games.
IslandLife @ Dec 3rd 2008 12:26PM
Seriously WiNG if you hate the series then so be it. But don't call it the least interesting. I think Dead or Alive won that trophy a long time ago.
Tekken is an awesome series. I guess it must be soooo cool to hate it now, kinda like FF7. I'll never understand the "hardcore elitist".
WiNG LifeInAGame.com @ Dec 3rd 2008 12:30PM
"I guess it must be soooo cool to hate it now, kinda like FF7. I'll never understand the "hardcore elitist"."
I never liked Tekken, and I don't know what that has to do with "hardcore elitists." I liked MK and that is hardly a balanced fighter.
aristokrat @ Dec 3rd 2008 12:31PM
Bushido Blade was a pretty cool game as well.
butaneko @ Dec 3rd 2008 12:45PM
Bushido Blade, yum! I wish they made a modern version. It could even work on Wii with 1:1 control.
IslandLife @ Dec 3rd 2008 12:48PM
@WiNG
And that's your opinion, but to state that Tekken is the least interesting fighting series of all time implies that you must have some facts or numbers to back that up. I personally hate Mortal Kombat for all the crappy combos and stiff animations that haven't changed much since the first. However, I won't state that it's the least interesting series when there are obviously a lot of people who do enjoy the series.
xFenixKnightx @ Dec 3rd 2008 1:25PM
WiNG
;)
Cellien @ Dec 3rd 2008 11:57AM
Last Tekken I played was on PS1, Tekken 1. I prefer Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat (1,2,3,4) and Killer Instinct.
Morning Toast @ Dec 3rd 2008 12:14PM
I've never been a SF guy. I followed Tekken all the way until Tekken Tag and then gave up. After three titles, Tekken just got uninteresting.
Personally, the best fighting game is DOA2 that was on PS2. I hope they port DOA to 360 eventually. Good characters, fast action, and great environments.
But in a face-off, Street Fighter will always win. The SF loyalists are just too strong and numerous. Unless Tekken pulls something super out of its hat, it's just another log on the fire. It'll burn but it won't do much else.
xFenixKnightx @ Dec 3rd 2008 12:17PM
"I hope they port DOA to 360 eventually."
Whaaaaa??? Can you say almost launch title?
