Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Guitar Hero 5 and Tony Hawk announced

[Update: Activision tells Videogamer that MTV's report is "speculative as far as we're concerned." Yeah, sure.]

MTV Multiplayer reports that at a Massive (Microsoft-owned advertising firm) event yesterday in New York City, Activision Blizzard revealed a number of sequels to their popular franchises, such as Guitar Hero 5 and a successor to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The sequel will be named ... Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. And here we thought they were going to do away with the numbers! Unfortunately, no gameplay details were mentioned for either title.

Finally, it sounds the rumors we heard earlier during the summer might be true: a Tony Hawk game is scheduled for release in October that "you're not going to be playing ... with a controller in your hands."

But here is something that might blow your mind. What if Activision is using the word "Modern" in the context of the games time period and not ours. So it could be futuristic combat to us but not to the characters within the game.

Well being that the rist one was called Modern Warfare, and was Modern... one would think if it was going to be in the future, it would be called Future Warfare. COD hasn't done anything futuristic in the past, given the great success of "Modern Warfare", i'd think they would strive to make the next game the same format, with improvements. No worries, it's all speculation and trying to add anticipation. Just like GH5

Well you may not be stupud, but you should know that Activision switches between Treyarch and IW for each sewuel.

So basically, there are two COD's. One at WWII, one at modern time. Call of Duty: World at War # is handled by Treyarch, while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare # is handled by Infinity Ward.

Heh, not getting any. After finding out how shallow COD4 actually was, and how ridiculous perks were for a modern shooter (two-three shots in the head with Juggernaut is nuts), I figured to stay away from COD games.

Tony Hawk games past their sell by date long before skate. GH4 (after defending it like i did) spat in my face and i am already bored of cod waw if they expect me to get excited about a rehash sequel of their best work to date they are going to be dissapointed. im not really this cynical but please do they expect us to jump through hoops and clap like fuckin circus seals for this?

Try hardcore mode, it's like 1-2 shot kills no matter where you shoot them... and you can kill teammates so throwing random grenades will cost ya.

did anyone see the skateboarding peripheral for the playstation 3 that is coming out, or is already out. Apparently, the Tony Hawk people...if I can assume...would be using this. If so, that might be cool, until it breaks in 400 pieces because I can't land a kick flip.

Something tells me that this still doesn't count as CoD6, and that IW may not be developing it.

We've over-played WW2, we've done BF2, CoD4, and several others, so can we get the same kind of action in a futuristic setting? No aliens plz.

Bit early to be announcing this I think, people are still playing WAW and GH: World Tour. Well, I'm not, but still.

I'm loving COD W@W - level 55 and still playing every day.

I became addicted to COD4 until i'd prestige'd 4 times, hopefully W@W will last just as long.

Anyone know what the Prestige level for W@W is? It's certainly not 55 this time.

i think what would be awesome is if the makers of the game chose to bring the war to the U.S.A and showed us what it would be like if it was brought her your know? like maybe take place in some seriously big citys NYC or L.a or lol even vegas tons of places i think that would be ground breaking for them to do that and would easily take game of the year 09... im not serious about the following but it would be funny if 1 of the maps was walmart lmao can u imagine that?

If it were a cross between RsV:2 and COD:4. Meaning the customization of Rainbow and gameplay of Cod I would be happy. Sit down and watch all the episodes of future weapons, when you prestige you some sort of upgrades are awarded i.e. red dot and silencer? extended clips? it\'s not impossible is it? didn\'t think so. I would love silencers on my sniper rifle as well. And how about instead of perks, the higher your level and prestige.. the more skill you gain for example being able to reload faster or hold your breath longer or have steadier aim because you have played longer?
