I don't care what Sony are saying at this point.

1) Alongside the rumoured price-cut, the rumour also included news of an Uncharted 2 gameplay trailer being shown internally, and a GoWIII gameplay trailer being shown internally.

2) The same day, a low tier SCEE eployee confirmed the information on NeoGaf. He also says most of the information will be released to the public soon too.

3) The next day, Jaffe talked about being shown a GoWIII gameplay trailer, confirming that it's being shown internally.

4) The day after, it's leaked that SCEE is emailing all its employees, reminding them that they're under an NDA.

5) Shortly after point 4, the low tier SCEE eployee edits his posts on NeoGaf to delete his confirmation, presumably because of the email.

6) A few weeks later, an Uncharted 2 teaser is shown, confirming that the game is at a point where they're ready to start showing it to people.

7) It is also revealed that an Uncharted 2 gameplay trailer and a GoWIII gameplay trailer will be shown to the public on Dec. 14th, thereby confirming the employee's prediction that it'd be released to the public.

8) The employee also gave details about what the two gameplay trailers had in them. If, on the 14th, the trailers are shown, and have the same content, we can happily confirm, once and for all, that the leak is true.

Gameplay trailer for internal showing doesn't necessarily mean that the game is anywhere near ready. The engine and level design is often the very first thing to be completed - months of marketing guff, testing, tweaking, testing, tweaking and qu'ran lyrics controversy follow after that point.

@Marty

I believe that is in reference to SCEE president David Reeves' denial of a price cut... which is also mentioned in the article.

at this point if Sony wants to keep its price cuts a secret, then they just need to shut up. to date every PS3 price-cut (or comparable sku-reshuffling) was preceded by a "No plans for a price cut" from Sony.

as for these sales comparisons, well, i'll leave that to Sony and Microsoft, since that's way more important to them than me. all i care about is knowing when WKC, inFamous, GOW3, Heavenly Rain and Alan Wake will ship in the US.

Glad to know that I can enjoy both systems while MS and Sony duke it out. Bring out the better game and I'll buy it.

However, any of my friends that ask what system to get I have to be honest. If they have the system set up, want HD movies and don't play games I steer them towards the PS3. If they want games and go online for competition, the 360 gets my recommendation.

Ya, I know there is Netflix but not in Canada. Call me old fashioned, but I like to own a physical copy of whatever movie I purchase. Love my blurays and PS3.

instead of writing a lengthy fanboy-esque tainted comment I feel that it would be better that I should write that I am based in the UK, I own 2 PS3's a shed load of blurays an even bigger shed load of PS3 games and I h8 the 360.

just so there is no confuision on my stance.

Sounds like one or two months of healthy 360 sales for it to lose that "lead".

lol who knows...maybe maybe not...but the point I'm trying to make is 300k units doesnt' substantiate a lead when the big picture includes millions of users. I really don't know what's gonna happen with Sony in the end this generation and no one does, but 300k? Does anyone really care about that number? Microsoft is breathing on Sony's neck.

You know, I was thinking, A PS3 price-cut at this point is really moot.

I mean IF they are doing it, it doesn't look like they will until after Christmas season. If there's anything that I have learned from my work, is January on-wards is a good time for incentives, but regardless, sales are TERRIBLE. In fact, I am seeing now, that a lot of the manufacturers that I deal with on a daily basis are beginning to shift their incentive programs and move them up to December as opposed to January because of the weak economy.

So if they are going to do a price-reduction anyways, why not do it before Christmas in order to curb some of the 360 sales while the getting is still good? In January, a price-drop or not, they will in no way be moving as many consoles as they would be in December...

To most people, the lower prices of the 360 is almost a no-brainer.

As for me, well I have kissed my PS3 days goodbye, after my 60GB PS3's Blu-ray drive died, two days out of warranty and they wanted to charge $180 to repair...

FINALLY sold it on eBay with 5 games and 3 Blu-rays for a cool price of $427.25. I'm still wondering why the bids went so high considering it was broken... hope the winner read carefully (it was in the title).

I payed a lot more for my PS3 than they are going for now, and still think it was a wise investment. They improve the online with every update. Plus you don't have to worry about a bunch of little shithead kids messin up your online experience. I also have a xbox collecting dust. All of the exclusives coming out for PS3 are what i'm interested in, i haven't gotten any of the xbox exclusives. One think sony could do to lower cost is come out with one witout a wireless network card, one that can't access home (when it comes out) without a subscription. Then sell it for 300 bucks for the cheap people out there who don't understand why the PS3 is more expensive.

Every online community is the same, I'm not sure why the Xbox has such a bad reputation. Play WoW or even Mario Kart and you meet just as many jerks online.

The only difference with the 360 is the ease of voice communication, which is something I love. It's very easy to communicate with everyone, no matter what they're playing.

If you don't like them, mute them. It's really not an issue, don't try and make it one.

I've been back and forth over which console to get, I wasn't going to get either until they both got really much cheaper (around £130 with 1 or two games + controller), and I have to say 360 has reached that first, 360 is also at their height games wise and community wise now and for a while longer.

It may be also for the same reason as being out longer and reaching peak game releases but it seems to me the same version of games are actually cheaper on 360 than PS3?? That's certainly the impression I got checking the shelves in one game shop. So that would also clinch it for me - games are expensive-same game cheaper on one system go for that.

So they would seem the best choice.

However I really believe PS3 is potentially the more powerful machine (along with the massive disk space) and we're waiting for the software to come, remember PS3 is a year behind- and I believe that software will come in 2009 and start to come a lot more after 2009 at which point 360 will be lagging.

On the same games for both consoles issue it does seem the games are programmed more for 360 and therefore the PS3 suffers for it. They need games which ONLY the PS3 is capable of.

The other factor is more of my friends have 360 so it would be more worthwhile Now to get it, that's the community issue and advantage 360 has because it's been out longer. PS3 should eventually get that, but of course they need to sell more now to reach that then.

So do I buy for now or buy for the future?

more and more developers are developing games for the PS3 first and then porting over......meaning that more games will look better and be more natural on the PS3 now......i.e. Most EA Sports titles this year, Burnout Paradies, Mirrors Edge, Final Fantasy 13, and more......

And i had this xbox in a shelf with 3+ of clearance on all sides for air flow, open front and back on the cabinet, and it was on a power conditioner/battery backup system. For this piece of junk to fail after a year on the best conditions possible anyone could ever give their system is beyond me.

I really love my ps3, I am a big pc gamer so it would seem the 360 is a nice transition but i was thinking, what would i really play on the 360?

I'm not interested in..Fable 2, Halo 3 would get old, Gears of War 2 could keep my interest but for how long?

I mean, we have uncharted, little big planet, mgs4, heavenly sword, ratchet and clank, resistance 2, socom, motorstorm, etc. Seems like we're just getting more and more unique games and the PSN isn't packed full of so much garbage.

Plus, we have actual wi-fi, add that 100 dollars to the purchase of your 360 and the battery packs, xbox live, etc and its more than a ps3 cost.

I dont want to come of as a fanboy but i thought thru the purchase carefully and the ps3 is just a greater value with so much variety and the hardware is really good quality.

So, go out there and buy it!

Why do you consider Resistance a plus for the PS3 while you ignore Halo 3? Halo has the better multiplayer and more users, so it would certainly last longer than Resistance will.

Most of the other games you mentioned also have alternatives for the 360. Ninja Gaiden, PGR, Banjo Kazooie, Gears, etc. It sounds more like you don't *want* to like what the 360 is offering.

And yes, the cost of the 360 adds up, but most of the things you listed are completely optional. Battery packs aren't necessary if you have rechargable batteries. Wi-fi isn't needed if you're able to run an ethernet cable (my 360 is about a meter away from my 360) and even so, third party wireless devices work on the 360, which you can get for less than $30.

I much prefer these optional accessories/added costs rather than being forced to pay more for a system, when I'm not even going to use most of the features.

Halo is even more a plus for 360 then Resistance is for PS3. Resistance is good no doubt, but it still has a long way to go to even be in the same category as Halo, and thats coming from a guy that can't stand Halo.

Every Now an then I pop in to Joystiq and pop back out. I read a variety of blogs now, because this cycle never ends here. Back at E3 it was Nintendo's turn where it just got bashed and bashed and bashed. I warned that this would happen and sony fans were getting exploited then and would be used later, now the boomerang effect.

Now it is a holiday season and it is back to PS3 getting kicked around. And just to make sure it stays on the PS3 the wii is not conveniently "not a game console" cause it doesn't have a the "core" games. But seems to me one console in particular doesn't get the same harsh light put on to it.

WAIT WAIT WAIT! BEFORE YOU ATTACK ME! Gears OF war2 IS like the Most KICK ASS THING EVER!.......
