Things are looking grim for the company that once gave us Gorf, Arch Rivals and Spyhunter. The Chicago Tribune reports that Midway may default on its staggering $240 million debt, and that according to an SEC filing the one-time arcade dynamo has just 50 days to get $150 million of this back into the hands of creditors. It's money, unfortunately, that Midway just doesn't have.
The Mortal Kombat publisher has enlisted the council of financial advisory firm Lazard, though time is short and money even shorter. The urgency stems from the company's recent change in majority ownership, which allows bondholders to demand full repayment on their investments. However, with Variety reporting just a smidge over $10 million in Midway's coffers, that leaves an awful lot of candy bars to sell over the next month and a half if the company is to keep from filing bankruptcy (let alone being ripped to shreds by investors pounding on the front door).

So THAT's why they hyped MK v DC all to heaven; if enough people had been tricked into thinking it was worth playing, they might get to...make another one? Instead, we can all look back on MK 1, 2, and 3 with fondness starting in 50 days, and forget everything since, including the films.

I just hope someone else can get the rights to Mortal Kombat.

Im kinda surprised by the amount of people thinking Midway deserves another chance. This is in light of the fact they havent made a game that has done well in around 10 years. Im also willing to bet those of you asking for this dont have more than 1 midway game in your collection thats been made in the last 5 years.
Midway messed up and now they got to deal with the results of their bad management policies. Also, theres no way another company is going to buy them, so forget about that. Its easier to let the house crumble then pick the IPs out of the ashes.

I bet Atari will pick up a lot of games that are left homeless after the destruction of Midway.

Oddly, there is a local talent contest 49 days from now. The grand prize? Exactly 150 million dollars.
Get rehearsing Midway.
May I also suggest a bake sale?

Seriously guis other than Special Forces MK was never bad. The whole franchise is in the 7.5 thing in my opinion. Is not gold but is really fun.
The only MK games that deserved to be panned in my opinion are the following:
Special Forces sucked.
Armageddon was disappointing due the lack of polish.
MK4 is passable (N64 era)
MK4 Gold was unacceptable.
MK Sub zero was just mediocre but isn’t bad.
(It’s been one of those days were people seemed to be more retarded and pissed off than usual and it looks it won’t end outside. Now I know what they mean when they say Trolling is a art)

Man Gorf. I'm probably the only one on here that remembers that one. That was one of the first video games that featured human voice.

The reason why Midway is losing money is because of the TNA Impact game and it sucked ass. If Midway goes Bankrupt I doubt maybe Atari or Activison will take the rights of the Mortal Kombat series after Midway went belly up but they better stay away from EA.
