Here's some great news for the PS3 in the land of the rising sun: sales have more than double during the week of November 24th to November 30th, going from 17,436 units sold to 34,978 units sold. You can check out the sales chart in Japanese here. This is largely due to the release of Pro Evolution Soccer 2009, which debuted at second place on the weekly software sales chart by moving 168,405 copies. Epic win!

I agree with Matt. It's because we didn't start it, and because we aren't the best or one of the best. I have played soccer most of my life until a couple years ago and I appreciate the sport and just how much of an athlete you have to be to play the sport professionally. I own Winning Eleven 8 on PC and love it, and I (once money accumulates and the price is good) may get PES09....
Hopefully we continue to see these #'s considering it's Sony's homecourt....

I asked my American friends. They said soccer (football) is boring. I of course disagreed. They claimed that in soccer they barely make any score. I told them that it's not all about score, it's the process of making one score was the excitement. They don't seem to understand. So I told them that to me American football is super boring too. The game goes on for 10 seconds then stop for minutes to go on 10 more seconds. They said it's about strategy, so I told them in soccer, the players make their strategy while running. Oh well, who knows why they don't get it.

"I think the U.S. hates it because they didn't start it. You know how that goes..."
That doesn't explain Basketball or Hockey.

Americans seem to love boring sports...
- American-Football: has even more stops in gameplay.
- Baseball: most pitches they don't even hit the ball.
- Nascar: they drive around in a circle.
If it was about action, Hockey would be the #1 watched sport in the U.S.

Being from the US, I can tell you that the reason I don't like soccer is because it's boring. Then again, I think all sports are boring - well, except pro wrestling, but that's technically "sports entertainment"

So what's the real verdict on PES vs. FIFA 09?
I only have FIFA '09 right now and I enjoy it, but from what i've seen PES looks a lot more "fun". Also, the licensing for PES is not as extensive as FIFA, yes? I'm new to soccer games, and this was my first soccer game purchase.

Still the other consoles beat the ps3 by far. I will be more happy to see that the ps3 beat 3:1 the 360 and 1:1 the wii...

PS3 DID beat the 360 by more than 3:1 and the only system that beat the PS3 by far is the DSi. PSP and PS3 sales will pick up again with the release of Dissidia: Final Fantasy and White Knight Chronicles.

Doesn't matter, it'll sell far more PS3 copies and PS3 hardware.

Can one imagine if the PS3 was actually as cheap as the 360??
Not that M$ would let that happen..

Exactly.....if the PS3 was the price of the 360....we'd be at 10 to 1.....
However, so many people forget that not as much is included with the 360 in a base purchase as with the PS3 so they buy the cheaper product only to later find out they will spend as much or more to get a compatible system.

I understood what you were saying.
I agree. M$ is taking advantage of uneducated consumers.

Good news to see the PStriple selling again.
Also, I'm an American who watches English football that doesn't care for American football.
PS3 + PES = FTW

Good for sony! I hope they keep it up.
Also I don't think its really that Americans didn't make it. I'm American and I don't like either footballs. I find both fairly boring. However, I haven't watched a lot of soccer so perhaps I have judged too soon.

I don't like Soccer because it's not as domestic as Basket Ball anf Football.Football is not boring if people actually sit down and learn the mechanics of the game.I am a Ravens fan which got me into the NFL since I am a Baltimore native.I like to root for the home team.I hope that sheds some light on the misconceptions that none Americans have about our choice of sports.

It is only good news if it keeps up, which it unfortunately won't. SONY has abandoned the Japanese developers and gamers alike, this is their punishment.
