Looks like Phil Harrison hasn't forgotten his roots after leaving Sony earlier this year. Speaking to Eurogamer at an event earlier this week, the President of Infogrames said that Home will be "a very successful platform" and that Sony will have "brilliantly realized their ambitions."
Harrison has also been checking out his former employer's competition. The ex-Sony exec had this to say about the Xbox 360's newly launched system software, the New Xbox Experience: "I was quite impressed .. they're just scratching the surface of what the whole industry recognizes ... that customization, socialization and community platforms are going to be just as important as the games themselves."
Darn it, Harrison -- so which side are you on? Kidding, just kidding.

I bet he still loves Sony in his heart, he just can't seem biased.

Is it just me or did I translate the title completely wrong?
On a serious note, it makes sense...I mean, without him where would there even BE a Home?

What? That's obviously a burn. They're "just scratching the surface"? He makes it sound like Microsoft are behind the times, and catching up to everyone else in the industry.

Just scratching the surface can mean anything you want really. I take it as more as: MS, for as far as they have come in the online/social arena, still has plenty more to offer which is pretty neat to think about....hopefully Sony can catch up/exceed Phil's future expectations....

Oh yeah, He was the guy who just said... "There’s a generation of kids being born today and probably already alive who I’m pretty confident will never buy a physical media product. They will never buy a DVD, they will never buy a CD, and they will never buy a game in a box."

WTF, why just kids? I am 33 and I would much rather move to a digital distribution model. I have bought more games on PSP since Sony made them availble online, than I had when it was just UMD-based games. There are some interesting side benefits as well, less plastic use, manual printing, and it saves space!
I am all for digital distribution, it doesn't change how I enjoy and play games.

Hes saying that because he know atari will fall...again and realize it was a big mistake leaving sony for just a hundred bucks

Ah whatever, I think it's a good thing Phil went to Atari. Good things... sort of... came out of it with a better Alone in the Dark? Okay that example fails.
But in any case, at least their making a better effort with their games on the PS3 - meaning some crazyass Home integration? Hopefully.

In other words, the gaming industry no longer sees games as the far and away most important thing. gosh, that makes a ton of sense.
Come on, that stuff is nice and all, but equally important as the games themselves? Give me a break.
