Rock Band 2 puckers up for 'Lips' mic patch
What rocker wouldn't want to add a little sparkle to the mic? Lips developer Keiichi Yano said it could be done. Microsoft and MTV Games say it will be done: We "are working together to ensure that consumers will be able to use the wireless mics from Lips with Rock Band 2," confirmed a statement received by MTV Multiplayer.
There's no set date for the patch, but we can expect Harmonix has marked this task a priority in its obsessive conquest to make any and all third-party instruments compatible with Rock Band -- and, in turn, we'll be sure to update the Matrix in our own obsessive conquest to chart any and all instrument compatibilities. Muwhaha!

I wonder if they can patch the mic gestures from Lips into Rock Band also.
Harmonix and iNiS should collaborate on a new IP sometime in the future.

It would be cool if they could even just let you use the RockBand songs in Lips. Music is there, note charts, and lyrics with timing. Should be workable.
It would add value to both franchizes.

As a fool who bought Guitar Hero 2, Lips & Rockband 1 drums from Circuit City for $30... This would be nice!

Hello, did you receive a box from Armacham? About F.E.A.R. 2, if so reply back or email me.

The mics included with Lips are of surprisingly great quality. It's well worth getting Lips JUST for the microphones. And the software isn't bad either. That you can sing over your own MP3s is pretty cool.

Actually you guys have been incredibly lazy in charting instrument compatibilities. I have e-mailed you multiple times to note that the Wii World Tour Generi-caster works perfectly with the standalone AC/DC Live Rock Band Track Pack for the Wii, but you haven't taken any action.
"Charting" out the compatibility for the Wii is the most important service you can do with your matrix, as it is the only platform that won't be seeing compatibility update patches.

I'm happy that they do it at all.

...the GH:WT drums work in RB2 (but not RB1) on PS3, also, despite what the matrix says.

But can I use the Rock Band mic with Lips? I don't want another mic.
SurfMurph @ Dec 5th 2008 5:44PM
I don't think you can get a SKU of Lips that comes without the microphones. I may be wrong, tho'.
edgore @ Dec 5th 2008 5:59PM
Will both mics work at the same time with rockband? I would love to be able to split the highs and lows with someone...
Considering how much ("too") I( have already spent on rockband, buying Lips for a wireless mic seems like a no-brainer - plus it's probably a good game to have around from parties.
Noty @ Dec 6th 2008 2:46AM
I love the look of the Lips mics, now I'll have a reason to buy them. Looks like Harmonix really is keeping their promise of making Rock Band a platform. Except for the AC/DC thing but that wasn't their fault.
Comet @ Dec 6th 2008 10:20AM
Besides them developing it and all.

AC/DC wanted their song pack to be retail, on a physical disc, and exclusive to walmart/sams. They wanted it to be more akin to an album release like their last album and Harmonix simply complied with their request.
