Rumor: Kojima Productions teases 'A Next Metal Gear'

A next Metal Gear is ... apparently being teased by a barren and maddeningly cryptic page on the Kojima Productions website. The internet detectives among you have likely concluded that a green power icon can only signal one thing. (That the game will require electricity!)

Before you folks tear open that wound again, take note that we have no idea when this teaser was posted, what it implies or why Mr. Kojima takes so much sinister pleasure in taunting us. We'll let you know if Konami tells us what comes after that ellipsis. Oh dear, it's not an iPhone game, is it?

Resurgence of the MGS4 360 rumors!

! stands for holy crap, full 180 means that they decided to change their minds on not having MGS4 on the 360, green's the xbox color... you could even look at it like it's the 360 Ring of Light

two I's each 180 degrees from each other... I think its a remake of MGS2 for the 360. (I + I, 180+180)

Or it's two exclamation points, implying a spanish connection...

I don't want to crush any dreams here, but that last symbol is also on the ps3.

And the Wii, for that matter.

It's on every current-gen console.

You know, this might persuade Fernando to get a PS3. Snake in a sombrero=epic win.

It's the power symbol, it's been around for decades, I hope you all knew that

I know the 360 puts significant emphasis on that symbol, Sony goes with the "PS" logo on everything

FUCK YES AN MGS2 REMAKE!
MGS2 IS THE BEST GAME EVER AND THE BEST ORIGINAL XBOX GAME.

Not to be a buzzkill, but speculation at this point may just be utterly pointless.

Let us recall that this is Kojima - the same guy that made us look on the back of the MGS case to find a contact number needed for the game, who made us plug the controller into the second port to beat a boss, and who made Raiden the main character of the second entry.

He's insane. It seems just as likely that, in order to read the cryptic message correctly, you need to jam your headphones into a USB port, hold ctrl+alt+s+n+a+k+e, and slather your monitor with BBQ sauce, at which point the name and release date of the game will be communicated to you via telepathic message.

I think you hit the nail on the head here. the "i" kinda hints at an ipod game imo. As an MGS diehard fan it would be kinda disappointing. Then again a teaser for an iPod game is kinda weird . . . but this could be a sign that apple is really pushing that "gaming" quality of the iPod Touch

I doubt this has anything to do with MGS4 going multiplatform. It does say "A NEW Metal Gear" after all.

I agree that it probably isn't a multiplatform announcement (though you never know), it doesn't say "NEW" Metal Gear, it says "Next" Metal Gear.

Next could be MGS 5, it could be Metal Gear 3, it could be a Kojima version of Solid Snake's Revenge, it could be an Xbox 360 port of MGS 4, it could be a Metal Gear board game... It could be anything really, but it doesn't have to be entirely "new."

I honestly don't care if its a PS3 exclusive or a multi-platform, as long as its a new MG in development. 180 could be a reference to the end of Solid Snake's adventures not coming as soon as we thought. Going back in.

And yeah, I really don't care if the next Metal Gear goes multiplatform either. In fact, I'd be surprised if it didn't.

It's kinda humorous how my comment seems to have been taken as a "Har har 360 fanbois you'll nevar get mah Metal Gear," rather than a simple observation.

The SWF file on the site has three parameters associated with it. I punched in random numbers and it wouldn't play past the KONAMI logo which means the file is gonna change what it plays based on some sort of data. Someone should decompile the swf to see if there are hints or not-yet-seen content or see how they can play with those parameters.

Month/Day/Year to make sure you over 18 perhaps?

Naw. The numbers are far to long to be just month/date/year. Besides the fact there isn't any questionable or M-rated content on the site anyway.

Speculate hard enough, and you can find "evidence" for any current-gen console.

If you ask me, looks like the power button symbol on the Xbox 360 when it is on. So I think Metal Gear is coming to Xbox 360.

Basically your statement sums it up. It cant be anymore obvious. Something involving Metal Gear is coming to the 360,hence the 360 green being used.

Nevermind Kojima, Konami knows there is a ginormous market to be tapped into sending something "MGS" over to the 360.

OH MY GOD, You're on to something!!! You must be the first person to think of that!!!

If it does have something to do with the 360 it would probably be Metal Gear Online for the 360. Kojima said that MGS 4 will not be on the 360 and I think he was telling the truth. Xbox owners shouldn't be getting excited anyway from all the bashing of MGS 4 i've seen on all the forums across the internet from them.
