Rumor: Kojima Productions teases 'A Next Metal Gear'

I personally didn't like the MGS4. It seemed a little ridiculous, and those cutscenes were excruciating. It was like a dramatic movie with a bit of gameplay. Don't get me wrong, The story is still as epic as ever, but I like to play the story, not watch it.

I'll be terribly surprised if I have any hearts, btw, cus I know how this works ;)

Metal Gear Solid 4 Substance/Subsistence version for 360 and PS3?

Oh, yay. Another snooze-fest of drawn-out cinemas that blatantly rip off movies that are far better than this series will ever be, mixed with short, dull playable sections that haven't advanced since the mid-90s.

I'll pass. As it is, I sold the MGS4 that came with my 80GB PS3 because, an hour in, I found it mind-numbingly stupid.

If it's any consolation, to the Sony kids, though, I feel almost the same way about the Halo series, too.

The 'i' looks like the Xbox disc drive with the eject button above it and the '!' looks like the second memory card slot with the wireless link button below it. The green of the power button seals its spurious future ex-bocks port. MGS1 redone with HD graphics for the Arcade would make me quite happy, I loved that game.

IMHO Konami wants attention. In other words, isnt every next gen console power button the same shape? Also they all have green to indicate that the console is on. PS3 has a green light, wii does and 360, hell my PC and laptop does. That power symbol is very very common. If you really want to play the game play it on a friends ps3. Anyways this looks like it could be metal gear acid, there are alot of assumptions out there, Konami is just a bunch of attention whores.

the power button is uncanny. the green color is synonymous with the 360. but what does the i mean? maybe ipod, or DSi. take a look at the URL too, MGST what could T stand for? tactics touch? MGS ACiD possibly? psp is dead perhaps it will be for ipod or ds.

Lets just say its for ipod/DSi then what is the significance of the power button?? i personally believe its a 360 announcement because the color and more things seem to match up.

NEW THEORY:
Let's say that "¡" is the inverse of "!", so therefore the sum of -¡ + ! would be 0. And that last symbol looks like the metal gear "!" inside of a 0. "A next metal gear is ... 0" a prequel? Metal Gear Zero...The Story of Major Zero?

i wouldn't buy it if it did come to the 360. never got into those games. so drawn out and they just feel like slightly deeper QTE's.

This one will no doubt feature 1300 hours of barely comprehensible cut scenes and ten minutes of semi-interactive play.

Anyone else curious as to the wonky grammar of "A Next Metal Gear is..."? I don't have any insights as to why exactly but that seems to be a very deliberate wording.

A "next metal gear" to me sounds like a new era of metal gear series with a whole new character since MgS4 is supposedly last chapter for Solid Snake...

I'd be going nuts if this new title focused on Raiden during his process of becoming the badass ninja he was in mgs4. That would be tight---to be able to play as him!

Maybe it has to do the Metal Gear Solid movie that's supposedly coming soon. And maybe the "i" stands for Kojima, where the Green Light means its a Go. That would be awesome if he directed it.

Do people honestly believe that a universal symbol means that its in development for the 360? Thats hopeful at best.

The on/off symbol is on most electronics, when green it means on, i'd say its far more likely that the new MGS is "on" or in development. As for the ! maybe another AC!D?

Either Kojima is deliberately and intentionally doing this to torture 360 owners who are interested in having a Metal Gear title by miscuing a title slated for another platform...OR if you apply Occam's Razor, simplest explanation being the most likely....

Metal Gear in some form is coming to 360.

Could be an entirely new Metal Gear story for the 360. I think this is the most reasonable solution. Of course, I'm hoping for MGS4 on the 360 - one less reason to get a PS3. ^^

OK...not sure if some of this stuff has been said..I stopped reading after the hundredth post of "OMG THIS MEANS XBOX!!!"

Clearly...it does NOT mean Xbox. It could, but there is no solid proof. I think the fact that the top line in the power on symbol is a "!" instead of a "|" is very significant. ! is associated as a Metal Gear symbol... being caught, alert, etc. So putting the Metal Gear "!" into a power on logo has some other sginificance.

Also, the shade of green that the image shows... my very first thought was the green of MGS1, when someone calls you on the codec. The image of everyone is green on a black background... not sure what the "i" would be. But it looks something more like an old codec image, placing an MGS "!" reference into the power on symbol.

Interesting, yet not enough to tell us anything. This is Kojima afterall. He probably made this teaser on purpose so that people would instantly jump to the "Xbox" conclusion, when all along it's something else thats right under our noses. Just wait and see.

Also the mgst in the url... my theory is that it stands for metal gear solid teaser... or something like that, another thing to throw people off. Again, NO SOLID EVIDENCE. Some people are just so difficult...lol

God no. MGS4 was one of the worst games of '08.

A VR Missions, Substance, or Subsistence type expansion for MGS4 in the form of add-on content. That's what I hope for. Although...I can't exactly fit this in with what the message says.

Well if you really take a closer look to all you proud PS3 owners such as myself, it resembles the PS3 power button on the console w/ "I/IO" being closer to the symbols show on the website. Most likely a new PS3 MGS.

My first thought was that it meant a man and woman had a baby hence no snake anymore like kojima said but a new hero a super soldier baby. (grown up of course) A super soldier baby would just be wierd

That is definitely the 360's center power ring. Announcing it on another platform wouldn't be this big - or cryptic.

But the 'power' icon, on my Blackberry, also has the same symbol. Same color, and everything... But I doubt it's another mobile game.

But it's definitely not Iphone/Ipod touch. Although it would be nice... The home buttons on the Iphone/touch are wonky squares.
