For a much better radio program, get FreeRadio: http://exophase.com/psp/freeradio-16-3071.htm. It runs on sony's firmware. It allows you to stream shoutcast, post casts, and internet radio stations. Completely excellent program.

"However, PSone games do not support full screen, and doing so will distort the image to fill the screen."

I thought the latest official firmware, or the one before it, made outputting PS1 in full screen possible. I wanted to upgrade the firmware just for this feature.

It'll fit the screen, but it will stretch the image to do so. It's somewhat less noticeable on some games, but on most, everything will seem "fatter" than normal.

Yeah, I know what you mean. PS1 games are in 4:3 format, and so on a 16:9 TV it would look fatter if stretched to fit. However, I still find it a nice feature because I play PS1 games on my PSP in full screen and I don't mind the stretched effect. I used to use Fuusa to enable full screen on TV, but it wasn't very stable. Now that it's an official feature, framerate and stability would be solid, I guess.

I was about to say the same thing. I agreed with everything Justin Eaton said except the touchscreen part. The one reason why I didnt get an ipod touch or ds was because I hate touchscreens and enjoy pushing buttons more xD

And for the internal flash memory 8 gig seems alright but I would like them to keep supporting the memory stick duo slot so you can keep stuff within the PSP and keep stuff within the memory stick. I didnt get two 4gigs for no reason you know.

Wouldn't two analog sticks on a candy bar shaped device be a bit awkward to hold onto?

Okay, that's just my excuse. The real reason is that my PSP is my haven from the FPS swarm.

Bad thing is, developers try to add FPS mechanics to 3rd person games... (Syphon Filter, Resistance) and that pisses me off.

@ cafecito

actually they're making resistance retribution a 3rd person shooter instead of 1st person like usual...

Yeah, that's what I said. Third person shooters with First person shooter mechanics (using the face buttons as a second analog). I hate that.

I'm alright with Syphon Filter, it's the Hour of Victory, Turning Point, Frontlines, Soldier of Fortune, Legendary, Haze, Blacksite, Battle for the Pacific, Call of Juarez, TimeShift, ShadowRun, Turok, Fracture, Perfect Dark, Prey, Quake Wars, A Nation Divided...and probably another 20 games I'm not able to recall...

You know, the games whose reviews rank in at "Yep, it's a shooter."

"Q. Would you know if an American credit card (like Discover, Visa, Mastercard) would work for the Japanese PSN Store? There are some Japanese games I'd like to purchase, and I don't know whether the system will accept my Discover card.
A. While I've only downloaded one Japanese game, I had no problems using my own American Visa card. Should work just fine."

Doesn't the billing address of the card have to be from the region? so in his case, for it to work, wouldn't the card's billing address be in Japan?

I really thought it was that way

The last time I tried from the European store it didn't work. Your address has to be in the region.

Just buy a prepaid Visa/MasterCard card and fill in a Japanese address online.

Some PS1 games do support fullscreen.

At the time, it seemed weird, but playing "Ghost in the Shell" fullscreen on a PSP is fantastic.

I don't know any other PS1 titles that have fullscreen offhand, but "Ghost in the Shell" is one.

Regarding the GPS plugin, we already have this in Europe.

Check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go!Explore

Surely this should be an easy port for the other side of the Atlantic?

As the owner of both a PSP and a DS, I have to agree that touchscreen support for PSP2 could only be a good thing. Not every game that comes out should have touchscreen functionality tacked onto it, but there are a lot of DS games that were built from the ground up with that in mind that are simply a blast to play and impossible to pull off effectively without it.

The DS is more of a touch itsy bitsy stylus onto screen than it is a touch screen. Just saying.

Leave the touchscreen thingy to the DS. I want regular, button controlled games... that's why I got a PSP instead.

Hence the part where I said that not every PSP2 game should have the functionality tacked onto it. Apply it where it makes sense to do so, and use only the pad and buttons for everything else. Honestly, given the success of the DS (especially compared to the PSP) I think we'd be silly to think the PSP's successor won't utilize a touchscreen in at least some capacity.

And let's not nitpick over the accuracy of the term "touch screen," for sanity's sake. It's a screen, and you touch it. That's enough.

Yeah, I gotta agree, a touch screen is almost mandatory to compete with the DS and the Ipodtouch . Plenty of DS games don't really use the touch thing, but for some (like adventure games), it is great. (Others, I agree, it's pretty lousy or tacked on).

Yeah I think a touchscreen would be great addition to add to the PSP, imagine using it to scroll through the XMB!! But of course physical buttons would indeed still be in the next iteration of the PSP as well as a built in camera, come on sony you do sell cameras as well and not to mention on phones too, use your powers for the good of the psp! (and don't just name it the PSP 2, be CREATIVE) (stares at his PS...3) also applications would rock on the PSP's wide screen!

ALSO a TV TUNER!!! Come on sony we are going digital! Have it accept those signals or make an add on, i don't care but gives us love like you make love with your Japanese counter-parts!!

I don't think Sony would add a touchscreen in their next portable. Sony is not interested in gimmicks.

PLEASE--no touchscreen on the next PSP. Unlike the DS, a PSP actually has *good graphics*. Why would I want to have my hand in front of the screen, blocking my view?

Besides its gimmicky nature, that has been my main objection to owning a DS. Having to partially block the screen to play games. Kind of defeats the purpose....
