XBLA Quarrel mixes Risk, Scrabble and Countdown
14
To play, players try to capture and hold various territories (Risk) by competing in rounds of Countdown by spelling various words of different point values (Scrabble). Players will also have to strategically place "quarrelers" pieces on each territory, which will ultimately affect the territory's point value. Sound complicated? Sound fun? I met these guys at the Game in Scotland game development trade convention in Dundee, Scotland (where Denki are based) back in April.
The game looked pretty sweet back then and they were working hard at it. I might actually buy it just to support local industry.

But why not use avatars instead of those cartoon people?

Because Denki isn't a top-tier Microsoft partner and likely wasn't given Avatar-related tech support and access early enough in the development cycle.

Regarding NXE avatars, it's 99.9% certain that we'll support them as an optional extra.

How about just putting out Risk?

I'll do ya one better: Why not an entire range of Milton Bradley games?
Monopoly, Clue, Stratego, Risk, Scrabble, etc ...
I mean has anyone played that new Monopoly game? It's perfectly fine as a game - but it's lacking online multiplayer. Are you serious? You make a Monopoly game on a disk (when it easily can be fit on XBLA) and then you don't let you play online? It was a fail to say the least.

Everything sounds better with the suffix, "-riffic".
